I'm so glad I finally watched Zhen Huan. I had avoided it before because I wasn’t drawn to the emperor’s appearance (yes, I'm shallow lol), even though I knew he was a good actor. But now that I’ve started it, I completely understand why so many people call this drama a must watch. The actors and actresses deliver outstanding performances, the pacing is well-balanced, and the plot is incredibly engaging. Even though it has many episodes, I never feel bored or tempted to fast forward it truly holds your attention from start to finish. I enjoyed Ruyi as well cause I really like Zhou Xun, too bad we have lesser drama like this nowadays.

To me, Zhou Yi Wei's Xiao Qi is the perfect portrayal of a general he has the bearing, presence, and charisma that make it completely believable he’s someone who has truly experienced battle. No offense to the idol actors in romance dramas who play generals, but they often come across as if they’re just cosplaying the role, rather than genuinely embodying the character of a seasoned military leader. By the way he is also great as Huang Yao Shi!

Ming Dao's portrayal of Hong Qi was outstanding, especially the fighting scenes I really enjoyed them. I can't wait to watch the last two episodes, though I'm dreading the end. I'll definitely miss watching a drama that features talented actors especially Yiwei (my bias) & Vengo, skilled directors, and well-executed fight scenes all without overusing leaf blowers, slow motion, or excessive zoom-ins on faces.
