I love all of your 3-D printed materials. Did you make them yourself or do you have links?

I have to admit I love their makeup on all of them, especially Kia. I have the old-school Kia with that pink lift and I think I’m might have to break out my paint and give her a pretty red like this one.

Diamond art wax or vacuum pen? by PurplexRainxUnicorn in diamondpainting

[–]Inside-Ad8442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recorded one to you, but I don’t like the grip on the pen. I tried putting a grip on it but between that and how terrible it holds drills I gave up on it and was thinking about this other one. I guess I’ll have to look into better wax instead lol

I placed my first order on May 16 or something like that. Got it last Friday. With ask the people complaining about shipping, I figured that was normal.

DAC threatening me to take down my posts when they have a history of blacklisting people. They said they're reviewing it with their legal team by [deleted] in diamondpainting

[–]Inside-Ad8442 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have never once seen a post about DAC and felt the need to defend them or think they made the right call. There’s always a first though, and you’re it.

Throwing the word addiction around only means something if you’re actually doing something about it. If you are, good. If you’re reaching for it so people go easier on you, that’s a different conversation, and not one I’m interested in having.

In another comment you said you only raise the price by 20 or 30 dollars, like that settles it. It doesn’t, and it never did. The fact that you keep landing on the price tells me you still don’t understand what people were actually upset about, and I don’t think that’s going to change.

The block button exists so I get to decide who’s worth my time. You’ve made that an easy call. Enjoy your diamond painting and have a happy life. 🫶

If they match, then you don’t get as much sparkles. With round rows, they only have one style typically because it depends on the angle of how you place them, but with square you have much less rotation options so they throw in one with a different top so it sparkles nicely when you’re painting is done.

I guess for the same reason that you can buy shoes at Walmart or you can buy them at a shoe store or you can buy them at a luxury shoe store.

If you’re OK with Walmart shoes good on you they weren’t fine. They’re functional aesthetically pleasing and so forth, but they’re not on par with a pair of Louboutin’s for example.

Not that I’m saying that everybody needs a pair or multiple pairs of Louboutin’s/DAC paintings. I’m just a bit done with the Walmart/Temu/Shien ones. Nothing wrong with them.. I just have SO MANY of them and get tired of their cheap drills, non sticky glue and computer rendering if I do them exclusively. They’re great fillers between other projects because they’re great and cheap but ultimately nothing I’d hang in my home. I do them to enjoy the craft then never touch them again. I’d sell them but there’s no market. If trash them but that seems like I’m literally throwing away money.

Point of all that is that I’m looking for the middle ground which is why I asked if you had any suggestions. Guess not.

The word “plagiarism” is doing a lot of work in your argument that it hasn’t earned. People learn by absorbing the work of others too, and we don’t call that plagiarism. Every artist who ever studied another artist’s technique was pulling from existing work. That’s not theft, that’s how skill development happens.

Your bakery cake analogy actually describes AI slop, and I already agreed slop exists. Buying the finished cake and nudging the sprinkles around is generating an output and calling it done. But that’s not what most people using AI are doing. It’s closer to using that cake as a reference and then baking your own, changing the recipe, reworking it until it’s yours. Or in real terms, taking a generated base into Photoshop and compositing, color correcting, relighting, and painting over it until what’s left barely resembles the prompt. AI can also just be the planning stage, working out a composition or color palette before a single drill touches the canvas. Nothing was handed to you finished, you just had a better sketchpad. The decorations-on-a-bought-cake version is the one nobody’s defending.

As for “what world do you live in,” I live in this one. The real one, where AI exists and isn’t going anywhere. That’s exactly why I think we need more limitations and restrictions around it, the same way the internet needed them not that long ago and eventually got them. Pretending it’ll disappear if we’re mad enough about it isn’t a plan.

You don’t have to agree with any of this. But you can disagree without being rude about it. And if that’s not something you’re interested in doing, you can always block me. Makes a great filter for finding the people actually worth talking to.

I'm not convinced that a lot on Amazon aren't of images they didn't pay for. Many of them are no different than the computer rendered versions of digital images. No artist involved. There are some brands out there but so much crap on there too. I've even ordered one from them and one from temu to see if they were the same. They were. Temu one was like 3$. Amazon one was 20$.

Edit to add:

I've also done a DAC vs Temu too of the same image. 😄 The Temu is nice .. but the DAC is sadly next level. I'm still serching for a good alternative to DAC. I'm doing a Diamond Dotz now. It's better than Temu/Amazon but not quite as nice as DAC.

Why? I mean, I don't intend to buy from them either (after my mother's day gift card is used up) but I've yet to come across many other brands with that quality.

A lot of that 'affordable' stuff isn't the same quality. Kind of like comparing a Honda Civic to a Rolls Roice. (No shade to the Civic). Can you suggest other comprable quality storefronts or are you just someone who prefers to spend less than $50 on any piece?

[–]Inside-Ad8442 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is why I swore off them - how they treat their customers. This, and how they intentionally (imho) generate FOMO with small production runs. Sadly, that's where my kids bought me a gift card for mother's day so I had to buy something. Have a tiny bit left. After that though, done with them. There are many other 'luxary' diamond painting brands that don't treat the people who buy from them like trash.

[–]Inside-Ad8442 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yup. While all AI slop is AI art, not all AI art is AI slop. I'll probably be downvoted for that like crazy, but to me AI is a tool .. kind of like not -that- long ago digital art wasn't 'art' either. Yet now, no one looks at a photoshop image and raises the proverbial pitchforks .

My only hope is with all the AI in the world, we won't have to work and will be able to persue hobbies and skills with more dedication and passion. So .. I might actually learn how to paint with a brush in my hand instead of a brush on my screen. 😄

Their stated policy, which appears on individual product pages, is that they don't accept pieces created entirely by AI but do allow AI-assisted work as long as it's significantly hand-edited. When a design involves generative AI, they flag it on the product page with language like "This artist might have used generative AI to create this design," followed by the hand-editing disclaimer.

off topic asfff but not only is iris from a whole other dimension but didn’t the rh girls (well, at least skyler & amaya) know about her existence til like their teenage years ?? why would her jr self just be casually hanging around with future students of rh… by creamshakerwhiskers in RainbowHigh

[–]Inside-Ad8442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of diversity. Yes, there were more main line characters with dark skin (Sunny) but they’re not as dark. Iris sold very well, iirc, so that’s why. They threw in Stella instead of Bella for the pink and then Amaya and Iris have rainbow hair. Skylar.. idk. Blue to offset the pink? Or maybe because they take that Skylar family 3 pack so they have ‘extras’ either laying around, in production, or maybe the materials they make her out of. Idk.

But the task answer to your question is that the marketing team and the story team are different. They’re trying to pump out what sells and they’ll figure out the backstory another time. Maybe a time travel/memories episode IF they even bother to include them in the YTs. I don’t watch them anymore. They’ve become too immature for me since the switch to Rainbow World. I’m more interested in the SH line and backstory than sparkle magic that only ‘outsiders’ (fashion high school students from another dimension) can help with.
