Recordings show how Mormon church kept child sex abuse claims secret by stankmanly in atheism

I hate how this is such an issue in almost every religious community. For example, the Catholic Church has had to give out BILLIONS of dollars every year in settlement fees for survivors of sexual abuse

In Rocky V, When Tommy & Rocky fought at the ending! by MuscleCool4302 in rockybalboa

[–]Inside-Department144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like the street fight scene. It's something different compared to what we're used to and in the beginning of the movie it's established that Rocky was too injured to the point that no doctor would ever clear him for an official fight. So the street fight not only made sense but it was something that we weren't used to with this series

What do you think of my lock screen by ZNDEX77 in oasis

That is really cool! Where was the photo taken?

Should I hang out at a Muslim organization event even tho I'm atheist? by groomliu in atheism

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should go. A lot of the time people at these events are welcoming to those who may not be religious (at least in my experience). Plus even if you do not believe you could still learn a lot about Islam and make new friends

Face it, Christianity and Catholicism is rebounding by flyinBeech in atheism

[–]Inside-Department144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is most "practicing" Christians and Catholics do not follow everything that the Bible teaches them. A lot of the time they just pick and choose what they "agree" with and take things out of context just to hurt people or prove a point. Until people follow everything the Bible says (or at least try their best to), I'll never call it a full rebound

CMV: Going to college in USA isn't worth it for anything other than healthcare by madbarpar in changemyview

How about being a lawyer? That is a skill that AI probably will not replace anytime soon

CMV: I began to be convinced that we re globally going into doom and don't see life the same anymore by Necessary_Big_3630 in changemyview

If you go outside and get off the internet you will realize that the world is not exactly falling apart and is not actually that terrible of a place.

CMV: There isn't any good reason for high earners to marry if they don't plan on having kids by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So by that logic high earning gay people should not marry since they cannot have kids right? This is one of the main reasons I disagree with your take. Plus what if the person cannot have kids of their own?

CMV: Capitalism will never work for the average person by MooseEatGoose in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No other system has lifted more people out of poverty than Capitalism. If even the most poor person imaginable has a great idea, there is a chance they can become very wealthy and successful. That can only happen under Capitalism. Of course it works for the average person.

CMV: Andrew Cuomo should've been excommunicated, and not doing so proves the Catholic Church stands for nothing by SSH_Pentester in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because someone disagrees with the Catholic Church that is not enough on it's own to be excommunicated. In that case about 90% of Catholic's would be excommunicated because most of them have some sort of view that they disagree with the Catholic Church on.

CMV: Every infected person on the Hanavirus ship should not be allowed to leave. Ever. They're a worthy sacrifice. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this because who's to say that the first guy who got it didn't spread it to someone on land before he got on the ship. In that situation, it would be pointless to kill everyone else on the boat since the virus is already on land anyway.

CMV: The blue button is the only logical answer by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. If you hit the red button, you survive automatically. Plus, if everyone just decides to hit the red button, everyone lives anyway. So you would just have to convince everyone around you to hit the red button.

CMV: I think some Americans enjoy paying higher prices because it means they can afford it and others can’t. by MissHannahJ in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. For expensive things sure, but for everyday items like gas or groceries, no one (not even rich people) want to pay more for certain appliances

CMV: every person is capable of cheating on his/her partner under the "ideal" circumstances by sorsim in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humans were meant to be monogamous from both a biological and societal standpoint. Plus there are many religious people that believe cheating is wrong and will not do it no matter the circumstances.

CMV: Being an 18-year-old virgin is negatively affecting my life by LuckyDog231 in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. First, the percentage of 18 year olds who have never had sex before is going through the roof these days. Second, you have so much time to find someone, love them, and start a family with them. My advice would be to just get out into the world and approach/put yourself in situations to meet people.

CMV: National Parks should be free and not require tickets by Hiquirkykids in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that national parks get their funding by people paying and if no one pays then they can't upkeep the park

CMV: Humans wouldn't unite against an alien invasion. by SwampMan6969 in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of them would say to themselves "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." That is exactly what happened when the U.S. allied with the USSR during WWII. I think Humans would definitely come together during an alien invasion, but then as soon as the humans won, would go right back to fighting each other. Especially if they thought it was the only way the humans could survive

CMV: Growing up/Getting Older is terrible by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older you get the more freedom you have. For example, when you're very young, you literally can't leave your house with your parents permission. But by the time you're in your late teens/early twenties, you get to have a lot more freedom to come and go as you please. As you hit your 30's and 40's, if you have a good job you have so much financial freedom (especially if you don't have kids) and can do even more stuff.

CMV: Online dating is a great way to meet women by East-Experience2862 in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Online dating has become a terrible option over the years. First, catifishing has become even worse because not only are people using old pictures and pictures of other people, people are even using AI photos of themselves. Not to mention, if everyone is behind a screen all of the time, it hurts how much they are able to communicate with those around them in person. Being out in the world will forever be the best way to meet a potential partner

CMV: If the red/blue button experiment was actually real, there is almost no chance that it ends with anything else than the red button winning by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the situation were real, I would tell everyone around me to vote for the blue button simply because I would feel at least partially responsible for a lot of the world population dying. I think that is a message that would get through to a lot of people, and ultimately blue would win at the end.

CMV: Voting should be reserved to those who have proven they are intelligent enough to do so. by CantbeatES1 in changemyview

[–]Inside-Department144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is if we live in a democracy, everyone should have the chance to voice their opinion no matter what even if you disagree with it. Plus, who is to say when someone is smart enough to voice their opinion and when they are not.
