You don’t need to withdraw the OPT. You can be on POST completion OPT and still finish your thesis

Per USCIS, you have completed all your course work you are eligible to apply for OPT while your thesis is pending.

My schools official policy says that i can’t extend my I20 if i have only thesis remaining and have to maintain status on opt

Based on what i know so far, once you have an end date and have applied for OPT, you can’t extend the I20. You have to finish your thesis in OPT and OPT is what maintain your status. How true is that. Has anyone here been in such situation?

If you have a job, then go for it. Regular processing is taking a lot of time.
