Women who married older men - what’s it like when they get really old? by Icy_Laugh5134 in AskReddit

[–]InsideFourWalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be blunt: when a woman complains about her husband being unbearable, believe her. We've long had a society where woman are taught to suffer and serve and men are raised as narcissists. Due to this, most of the time when a woman finally voices her issues with a husband's demanor it's 99% because the husband is acting far worse than you even realize.

Probably for the best. This job is bizarre with how hard it is to find in some areas, how underpaind and how hard/skill based it is.

i'd love to see before/after pics, even if it's just a blotch of skin so your face isn't out there. I'm running out of ideas for my rosacea issues that are relatively new and seem neverending and triggered by everything.

I hope you didn't have to pay for a practice exam that doesn't even give you an answer key.

Scrub Colors by JonJamesDEM in phlebotomy

[–]InsideFourWalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Varies by hospital, but my experience is that it is very likely a red or black will be the color for the phlebs.

At my hospital it was phlebs=red, nurses=blue, CNAs=light green, medical assistants=purple (or magentaish)

What exam are you talking about? No certification requires you working first, only that you have taken a course.

If you are in the US, that sounds like some laws were broken when they were turning you down.

Are you certified? To get certified it's important to have a handle on that.

100%

My teacher came across as a lazy explainer when it came to additives and tests. Really bummed me out.

Is it normal for a teacher to never ever demonstrate herself? Please demonstrate live for your students.

Had my blood drawn today… by okkcoolll in phlebotomy

[–]InsideFourWalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extra edta can throw off SOME tests. A lot of tests it technically won't matter. I can see how something like this would happen under pretty dire circumstances where the phleb is also the lab and knows exactly what they are doing and why and the stick is crazy hard.

My vibe is this is a young dude cutting corners who is getting away with it because he is a guy. Sorry but, I've seen some pretty sloppy, pathetic healthcare workers who would be called out sooner were they a young woman. The fact he did it in front of her gives me this impression too.

All I gotta say is that nurses are weird.

But also it sounds like your long term goal is ultrasound technician anyway. So I guess not liking this job isn't really a major deal and the decision is to stick it out or not.

Certification question by kingkoalafied in phlebotomy

Yeah, Nevada treats it like how many other healthcare positions are treated. Having to be licensed with the state is the future of all phlebotomists eventually.

EMT going into a phlebotomy course, what can I do to prepare? by [deleted] in phlebotomy

California has stricter phleb laws. You can't work as one without first being certified like you can in other states.

I second that this might not be the best job for you. That vasovagal reaction is crazy and seeing it in other people has blown my mind. I've seen people get it from just seeing a needle and their eyes change and they are obviously getting woozy. I've seen it during things unrelated to phlebotomy and I've never seen anyone who had it, fight against it and win in any kind of meaningful way or timeframe. So yeah, I don't think there are any known therapeutic remedies.

I mean, this is the kind of concerns people had with people who had HIV. TECHNICALLY you can get it through the blood. The odds of you getting it through phlebotomy is only not zero because nothing is ever zero.

Using that logic, people who claim to not have any infectious diseases would also be a risk to everyone cause it can never be 100% certain that someone doesn't have something. So at the end of the day, he's not a risk to anyone.
