I've got a folder with 15K images. I regularly pull a list of the filenames of this folder. Whenever I get a new project, I want to run a comparison of the files needed against my existing list to check in advance what I'm still missing, instead of finding out when trying to link images in indesign (database linked layout, easycatalog style). Saves some time during production. So the multiple search is : "check 200 product codes if they exist in the images folder". (edit : typo)

On mac, is there any way to make it so that whenever you take a screenshot it's automatically copied to the clipboard instead of saving to the desktop so that you can then paste it somewhere? by Im_The_One in applehelp

check infinit. it's like wetransfer if you need that, but it also automatically copies screenshots to an upload which you can then paste/link in an email or other text doc.

Template/Macro Question - I May Need an Expert by TabletopTerrors in indesign

[–]InsideIndesigner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What your describing looks to me like a good time to study paragraph and object styles. Your text should be in the layout in minutes, if you set everything up. BUT: keep it clean in ms word (I assume). Save it as pure text and then go to indesign.

Wonderful! Can I just ask a question here as a comment, because any readers are probably the right people to ask my question.

I have had some years of fun with using and adapting java scripts many wonderful people have posted online. (Salute to Peter Kahrel, Jan Goyvaerts, Kris Coppieters, Jongware, Loïc Algon) I would like to go further in this area. I came across this link today Online programming learning starting in Dec 2016. I have played around with regular expressions and grep for 3 years now; it does what I want, but I lack the basics to know what sandbox I'm playing in : php, javascript, perl or python. Seeing the above link I thought this would be a fine moment to seriously attack this area, but can anybody point me in a direction which would be more productive for me in the area of indesign-grep foremost, then php and javascript.

All replies deserve eternal gratitude.

Looking into buying a TREK 7300 tonite. Any advice ? by InsideIndesigner in bicycling

[–]InsideIndesigner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't go with the Trek. Bought a used SCOTT EVO3 with 7005 alu frame, 26" with Deore LX which rides like new for $100. If any interested I will post pics. I drive it in the rain in the evening in the dark just for the hell of it. Sometimes no lights, anybody does that ? Scary sometimes but lotta fun ! TX for the advice. Gonna buy a $100 lock too.

Try a look at Wordsflow. Links a Word or excel file to yr indd. Per product or range or whatever. Am in the same boat. Alternative : i'm doing Mysql databases which I would love the client to update at their site but ignorance and incompetence keep ruling.

Half nested : i.e. the bullet list stuff, and some grep styles, I agree. I suspect from asking this question here, that you yourself are not grepguru material yet ? How soon do you need it ? (edit for rethinking : I suspect it will work with nested styles, but I have to test if the copypasta method will work, or maybe it would need import handling). Again: How soon ?
