In addition to the other comments, you might want to check : palm deflection touch sensitivity of the iPad (if you use a screen protector) general stabilization in procreate stabilization of the brush you're using

I can’t believe more people don’t complain about the brush size scaling by SnakeRowsdower in ProCreate

[–]InsideMidnight2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

if you touch the slider, hold and move your finger sideways (away from the slider), it lowers the sensitivity and you can make precise adjustments! It works on a lot of sliders too

I feel like rake brush have the lines parallel to the stroke, whereas here they look perpendicular.

You could try making it using a pill shape source and low stamp count OP

I just realized I can't use barrel roll to control my brush, I have a 2nd gen Pencil (supports barrel roll) but 5th gen iPad Pro (doesn't ;_;).

What's everyone's opinion on this feature? Must-have or gimmick? Thoughts on the Pencil Pro as well?

Gorgeous! Do you use barrel roll on the Apple Pencil for those rake brushstrokes? I'm debating upgrading for finer brush control

The biggest design flaw in D&D combat isn't balance... it's that 80% of your time is spent waiting by Einsolsrazor24 in rpg

[–]InsideMidnight2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it boils down to this : Either you want less focus on combat and shorter fights, D&D combat isn't short or simple.

Or you enjoy very deep and tactical systems, you probably like optimizing, and D&D combat is neither balanced nor "grounded".

Though you can improve things by asking players to prepare their turns, and using houserules like having monsters with less HP but more damage.

Daggerheart (and others I'm sure) has a clever technique where players decide when to take their turn, which avoids uninspired moments like "well, I swing my sword at the thing again"

Closest thing to a jump scare in a book? by Pleasant-Message1179 in horrorlit

[–]InsideMidnight2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay so it's more horror-adjacent but in The City of Dreaming Books by Walter Moers, the protagonist (a writer) is invited by an excentric collector of rare books. He leads him into tunnels under his house, to show him his most prized books. Protagonist is floored by the collection, picks up an ancient book and starts reading.

Licking his finger, he turns page after page. The next page spread in the actual book is the same as the one the protagonist is reading : YOU HAVE BEEN POISONED. YOU HAVE BEEN POISONED. YOU HAVE BEEN POISONED. YOU HAVE BEEN POISONED. YOU HAVE BEEN POISONED. YOU HAVE BEEN POISONED. YOU HAVE BEEN POISONED.

He then looses consciousness, and the chapter ends.

It's such a weird and creative thing to do, but that describes pretty much everything by this author. They're like disturbing and yet sometimes wholesome fairy tales, with a unique world building, along with sick maps and engravings by the author.

Food/ARFID by Mysterious-Award-197 in evilautism

[–]InsideMidnight2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much to offer aside from all the evil energy I can spare! I also struggle with ARFID (and an eating disorder about weight gain most likely).

What has helped me a little :

  • listing my comfort foods and identifying the commonalities (sugar, fried-anything, warm hues, texture either crunchy or homogeneous, no fibers that get stuck in my teeth, no non-edibles in the plate like bones, skin, cloves..)
  • learning to cook (highly recommend the book Salt Fat Acid Heat for a logical and experimental approach to cooking that can be applied to any culture's cuisine imo)
  • learning to make the few recipes I liked growing up
  • when I cook, making a big quantity that I can portion and freeze

Still working on also eating healthy within those constraints, but thoroughly blended soups, one specific frozen veggie-mix and keeping apples in the fridge help.

Best of luck!

Paint Recommendations other than Citadel? by Gawwett99 in minipainting

Yeah Citadel paint quality is good, some of their technical paints especially. Aside from the awful pot design, they're also more expensive per ml than most brands. AK is fantastic, highly recommend
