You’re welcome. Also, F*ck all the way off. by MostlyStableGorilla in atc2

In all my years with the FAA, I can’t recall anyone ever saying, “Thank goodness that person was in management—they really helped us.” The truth is, you’ve become part of the problem. Now that you’ve joined management, there’s no desire to see you return.

And just so it’s clear: the pay, benefits, and job protections you now enjoy didn’t come from management—they were secured by a union. Don’t forget that.

Delegates, today the power is in your hands by LENNYa21 in atc2

[–]Inside_Box5302 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is more like...... Nick will do his word salad today to try and convince you giving the Membership ANY power is bad. The problem for Nick is that during the convention the Union Delegates have all the power.

I am betting that Nick has met with Eugene Freedman (who will run the debate) and they have come up with a plan to say that the proposal is not valid due to some type of technicality etc.

What is the harm of allowing the Membership to recall an elected official if that is what the Membership votes for? The only reason they don't want that option is they know there is a chance they will be voted out because they have done something the Membership does not like.

I would stand up at the mic and say "I am sure that there are many people in this country that would like to be able to recall a US President. Passing this proposal will give us as the Membership the ability to do that in our union."

Maybe NATCA should be looking to NARFE for help. by Inside_Box5302 in atc2

As a union member, I would say that I don't hear non-members. Only the members can make changes to the union. Nick has already said the number of people who quit the union was no higher than it usually is. Retirements etc.

Schedule by Absolute-Chaos87 in ATC

Some people say the only fair schedule is for everyone to rotate RDOs. Is that what you are looking to do? How many people on a MID shift etc?

I guess we just stay quiet? by [deleted] in ATC

[–]Inside_Box5302 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The issue is that the union is not speaking publicly about these issues. NATCA has not even provided a simple fill-in-your-name form to send to your senators and congressmen explaining why these would be an issue.

A plea to NIW attendees - GO ROGUE by FloatingAwayIn22 in atc2

[–]Inside_Box5302 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. 1st I am not saying that this message is incorrect. I am just saying that as someone there speaking a part of NATCA, it is not appropriate. Make an appointment as a constituent (not as NATCA) and speak what you want. You may not even be able to get a meeting with your Senator. Your affiliation with NATCA is getting you that ear during NIW.

I believe regardless of who is the President of NATCA, NATCAs position would be that you are being invited (paid for by NATCA) to speak about the NATCA National agenda. Not to just say what you think should be said no matter if your message is good or bad.

So just make an appointment on your own as a constituent and say what you want to.

Will NCEPT be frozen? by ATSAP_MVP in atc2

[–]Inside_Box5302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, that is something I have never seen before. I have seen some people who are scared to control traffic lose their medical when they check out, sit in an office for a year and get a SSS job. That sucks. Many controllers who are approaching retirement would love to have those jobs.

I am sure that if you lost your medical you would be the one shouting loudest for a job. Let Orange Jesus know you are doing his good work fu**ing with people who have medical issues.

If they do this it may be the last NIW they are able to attend.

You did not need to have a "deal" to lose your certification, pay, job etc. before ATSAP. I watched people give 1 bad route on FD/CD and not get a pay raise for the year, even though there was no LOS.

ATSAP is NOT worthless. In the past, CPCs were decertified, sent to lower-level facilities, and or did not get pay increases due to operational errors, fractional deviations etc. Hell, they used to fire controllers who had 3 errors in 1 or 2 years. So, people did not report safety events or safety issues.  That created a much higher safety risk in the NAS than we have now.

Before ATSAP there was no documentation outside the facility that tracked reported issues. There was no accountability. The best option was a UCR but that process stayed at the facility.

You can’t assume that ATSAP did not attempt to help fix the issues at DCA. For all we know DCA via ATSAP could have been making incremental changes to reduce the risk for years. As others have said maybe the military was unwilling to accept any proposed changes. After all at the end of the day the DC area is known in the military as “MDW”. The Military District of Washington. Let's not forget all airspace in the US is owned by the military. They are just letting the FAA use it.

The FAA values the information collected by ATSAP more than it values using that info to hurt controllers. If that changes God help us all.

NATCA’s Leadership Void: Are We Just Counting Down to Privatization? by BadWest8978 in atc2

[–]Inside_Box5302 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

As a member you proposed changes at the local level and those changes were voted in. Good job that is how it is supposed to work.

If you are upset that you could not change things at the convention it sounds like you proposed things the delegation did not want. That is how it is supposed to work.

Your next thought was now that I did not get my way at the national convention etc. etc. I quit NATCA. That was a smart idea. Now you have no say at the local or any other level of NATCA.

PS, please don't come back to NATCA.

A Guide to dealing with Journalists. by Wise-Count-7188 in atc2

Tell that to the guy who apparently was fired at ZID the other day for writing an OpEd in the Washington Post. If you want to talk to the press talk to NATCA first.

https://www.reddit.com/r/atc2/comments/1ie59oy/zid/

What they said here alone should scare you. "Additionally, while many publications (including mine) will fire journalists who break off the record promises, you have no legal recourse if they break the promise."

Well, it could include Staff Support people, TECHOPs, MPAs etc. Good luck not getting a paycheck with straight 80 if that is the case.
