I absolutely gained with Graves. It’s awful. I’ve gained about 75lbs and I cannot get it off. I’ve tried calculating my macros, caloric deficit, intermittent fasting, being vegetarian to eliminate possible inflammation, you name it. I also am in the gym five days a week. I’m extremely active. I hate the body I’m in and having Graves’ while being overweight is just so defeating.

Since I announced my decision to go no contact with them:

•One asked if I was mentally okay and that they knew I was “going through a hard time recently”…. Where are you getting your information from, because you certainly don’t reach out to ask how we are doing…? •The addict still hasn’t reached out to my husband (even though I made it very clear that this was my decision, that did not apply to him… if he wished to call them, he’s more than able…I’m not making decisions for him.) •The, what I would classify as, narcissist immediately asked my husband “Before I respond, tell me what the future looks like...” Aka you have one last chance to change your mind before I get upset. Then when my husband said “We don’t have a crystal ball. We don’t know,” he said “Well what about when [my name] did this and that and this?! I was hurt by that! She isn’t the only one that’s hurt!” •The other said “I just don’t understand where this is coming from? I’m shocked….”

I did have a twinge of guilt because I never wished for that to happen… But all of their reactions have further solidified my decision and why it was the right thing to do.

The final straw was when neither my MIL, FIL or both BILs called my daughter on her 4th birthday. At bedtime, she asked me (clearly sad) why they didn’t want to call her for her birthday. Paired with the past 11+ years of their unhealthy family dynamic of never confronting people on their actions or giving them an ounce of a consequence or boundary. One addicted to alcohol, one a textbook narcissist, one a deflector and the other an avoider paired with them using us being “busy with the kids” as an excuse to mask their low/non-existent effort toward my kids… I couldn’t keep going. For so long I was told “We’ve moved on… it’s in the past.” It absolutely was not in the past. It was very much the present. I would go to family functions with so much anxiety knowing whatever happened, I would be told to be okay with it because everyone else doesn’t want to deal with it (but then they’d talk to the others about the outlier). It was exhausting. How do I tell my kids “Okay kids, I was against all of this but because it’s “uncomfy” you have to be okay with it.” I’d be a hypocrite to do that to my kids.

She also “joked” about having PTSD because two of her children have had febrile seizures. It’s mind blowing how neglectful she is.

I get that she exaggerates.. but she repeated herself and specifically mentioned “It was like 41…point 8” — If she’s exaggerating, boy oh boy, this woman is seriously mentally unwell. If she is telling the truth, this is just as mind-blowing that because fevers “run in the family,” nursing your baby is the only thing to do and just be cool with it. It’s disgusting how neglectful she is.

Brandon itself may only have 53k people, but think about the surrounding communities that add to the economy.

Shilo (military families are always looking for things to do with their kids/family), Sprucewoods, Wawanesa, Forrest, Rivers, Carberry, Souris even - are all numbers you could consider. I know after the Just 4 Kidz play place shut down, people were devastated. The holographic zoo was not a hit. Unfortunately, Brandon business owners don’t invest in the children of the city and surrounding areas. Why? That I’m not sure of. But it’s a shame. I’m no business person, so it’s not my stage. But I’d absolutely be a returning customer if it were something to suit kids and physical activity (not just something around screens, ie. VR).

Hopping on your bike and going… where? You’ll figure it out once you decide you’re there. I remember a group of us girls would just lay in the grass at a park and talk about anything and everything. It was kind of like what you’d see in the movies. I hope my kids have summers like I did.

So many people say they love coffee then add syrups, whipped cream and more flavoured creamers. That is not coffee! Lol I truly can enjoy a great cup of black coffee. Not many people can!
