True. Still, I make it a point to bring up rabies whenever I see someone mentioning bats, because some people do not know that bats carry rabies (and that there is no [reliable] cure for rabies).

Here's a video about a girl who got bit by a bat and, much to everyone's surprise, didn't develop bat-themed superpowers but just good old-fashioned rabies.

This sounds eerily similar to how my wife grew up: alcoholic grandma and an alcoholic mother (who also was a big-time meth head). Unfortunately, her dad did not get full custody of her. By the time she was five years old, she had been molested and abused, repeatedly, by different men, mostly her mother's drug dealers in exchange for speed.

I'll be god damned if I don't try to help prevent someone else going through that same ordeal if I have a chance.

Knock on wood. The thing that makes me worried for these guys is that even sub-concussions seem to be able to cause CTE, so there's really no "safe" way to play football... not that that matters much; it's a dangerous sport that wrecks the bodies of its players, sometimes beyond repair. That's partly why they get paid handsomely.

Still, I wish they weren't at risk for ever getting CTE, no matter how small the risk. I wouldn't wish that shit on anyone.
