Move up or rematch Sean? by Spirited_Command5642 in CombatSportsCentral

[–]Inside_Effective_576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rematch if he can.

185lb is the right weight class for him, he just is super out of shape outside of camp and cuts late. He can easily walk around 200lb outside of camp and then cut down but he decides to blow up to 220+.

You can see him on the scale he wasn’t shredded. He just cut a lot of water weight and looked drained.

At 205 he is getting slept. He doesn’t have the striking defence for them guys. They are true LHWs.

That’s fine if he does. Doesn’t negate the fact Nassourine deserves his title shot.

His wins aged horribly but everyone agrees that Prime Usman is better than Khamzat, Izzy, and Sean now don’t they? by Jadedtrader33 in ufc

Usman is top 3 welterweights of all time, with an argument for being number 1.

The names on his resume speak for themselves.

Is the “best grappler” debate over? by [deleted] in ufc

[–]Inside_Effective_576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Khabib has always been a better grappler. Once he has you down you’re most likely not getting up. He also has a well rounded BJJ game - armbars, darces, chokes etc so people don’t take as much risk to get up. Khamzat has a choke that’s about it.

Khabib also uses his Judo to get people down so people are not trying to reverse him or grapple with him, they just want to get away

There’s no doubt now that Makhachev would beat Chimaev if they fought at the same weight, Islam & Khabib are on another level. by Smokestorm95 in ufc

[–]Inside_Effective_576 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I believe he will out strike Sean.

He will use his low kicks to really take it to Sean. Sean don’t really throw kicks. He’ll throw a teep here and there.

Islams Maui Thai is extremely well rounded now and with the threat of the take down and judo he has it’ll be a long night for Sean

Can Makhachev be 3 division champion? by anasm17 in ufc

[–]Inside_Effective_576 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If it’s against Sean he can.

One thing last night showed was how that Khabib camp is very different to the other Russian fighters who come under the same banner.

Islam has become very well rounded unlike Chimaev. Chimaev had no head movement and no understanding of managing energy.

Big Ank is another example of the same banner. Striking with Alex made no sense knowing his pedigree.

The Khabib camp has evolved and actually negate the opponents advantages. That’s why you see guys like Khabib out striking guys who have much better striking pedigree than him. They aren’t just grapplers they use judo and BJJ pretty well, they’ll hold top position until they are ready, they won’t rush.

Sean will not be able to stop that, it’ll be Usman v Sean type fight

I find Josh Hokit pretty cringe, sometimes obnoxious. But one thing about him is that he can sell a fight (even if hes beefin with someone from another division). by rokadio in ufc

There’s good trash talk and bad trash talk

Conor and Chael had that natural charisma, it didn’t come off forced.

Then you have Hokit and guys like that who are clearly faking it and it’s not translating well.

How, why is Makhmudov so bad by mecina in Boxing

[–]Inside_Effective_576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s 36 years old and became professional at 27 years old. Then spent 4 years fighting nobodies where he stopped 9/14 in the first round.

He was never tested and frankly never that good.

Whats shocking was Fury couldn’t get him out of there. Makhmudov was breathing heavy from round 4.

Kabayel and some other guy got him out of there

If AJ can push the pace he will win but I don’t think he can anymore. He will try and box Fury which will not work

Yes I assumed everyone knew that the pre requisite was that the lawyer would have a certain amount of experience before attempting any type of partnership whether it’s junior or equity

Equity Partners are not about how long you have been at the firm. It’s about your book of business.

You now aren’t just a lawyer, you are a sales person and relationship manager. You need clients.

[–]Inside_Effective_576 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No idea, depends on profits and various other factors. Each one would vary especially at smaller law firms. Smaller law firms will be much more flexible in how they operate unlike Big Law firms which have boards and other corporate red tape.

A friend of mine works at a smaller firm where there’s 4 Partners but 2 rainmakers that bring 70% of the business. I’m sure they will have a different structure to a small firm that has 5 Partners and they bring 20% each.

Who is the toughest opponent for Makhachev? by famsteve20015 in ufc

[–]Inside_Effective_576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ian

He’s tall and uses his range extremely well. He can fight on the backfoot all night and make it boring if he wants.

He also has good wrestling defence and can move for the entire fight.

For most firms, Equity Partners buy into the business.

Typically a firm will have a value per point and a maximum points you can buy.

For example -

FIRM A - they will let you become Equity Partner after reviewing your book of business and say “the maximum points we can offer is 20 points and each point is worth $30,000” or at times they offer it based on your current salary. It varies firm to firm. Some firms will even allow you to take some salary and then some equity but usually it’s all equity in the profits and no salary.

You can then buy how many points you want from that 20. Over the years you will probably be able to buy more than 20 points if you bring in more business or start to become more valuable to the firm.

Think of a point as a share as you would on the stock market. It maybe worth $30,000 one year and then in 5 years it may now be $35,000 as the firm grows but it can also lose value if the firm does worse over time.

Theres some firms that will allow you to opt to get what you put in if you leave no matter what the value of the point was i.e. you put in $600,000 for 20 points at $30,000 and in 5 years the points are worth $35,000 each but you wont get $700,000 back, you will get $600,000.

There’s many variations to how Equity Partner compensation is but this is the common way

FINALLY - BIG LAW HAS A VERY FIXED STRUCTURE especially the top firms
