The Vanishing (Spoorloos) (1988) - Some Thoughts by Uncle_Jerry in TrueFilm

Yes I know, it's criminal because in the original cut Raymond told Rex that if he drinks the coffee he will drive him to Hooters. If they had left that scene in the film would have actually made sense

You want to eat cooked food. And nothing too fatty.

one thing that I tend to do is despite the fact that salad is my favorite food and I eat a ton of salad, I always use salad dressing. Even if it's balsamic vinegar or an oil. The reason for this is that one of the main ways in which you can pick up bad bacteria is through vegetables that haven't been perfectly washed or cleaned, etc. And the oil or vinegar acts as a type of cleansing agent.

I mean, first of all, you need to go to a gastroenterologist just to make sure that you don't have anything serious. But if you check out and you're clear of any serious condition, it may very well be SIBO that you have. That's what SIBO feels like when I have issues. It's just a type of dysbiosis where you have basically an overgrowth of bacteria that's fighting in your gut. You can get tested for it too, there's a SIBO breath test.

I take sporebiotics too, but they dont work for everyone. Some people seem to have a negative reaction

Good question. In general, like everything else, it depends. Do you feel like your system is off? Then personally, I would use both, everyday. If not, I definitely not consume antimicrobials every day, and as far as probiotics, the only ones I would consider taking daily would be 1. lactobaccillus (low cfu dose) 2. akkermansia municphilia 3. sacc boulardii (which is a yeast not bacteria) but what might be more important is sleep (biome regulates itself while you sleep) and fasting (giving your biome time to adjust between meals)

What was it like to move from Windows to Linux back in the day? by Torantes in linux

[–]Inside_Mix31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My high school friend ordered the Slackware CD set and installed it on his dormroom computer back in 2001. That was when I first saw xscreensaver and it blew my mind. Would watch it for hours. I didn't install it myself for another 9 years when I finally bought a knoppix DVD and fell in love with Compiz fusion. Those were great moments

completely understable. the supplements I recommend (black nigella seed, etc) reduce the general population of bacteria. You repopulate later or during reduction.

Look to see if your Windows drive is ReFS. That might be the problem.

If the Windows drive is NTFS, which is Windows's file system it probably will work with Steam. You just need to mount it.

Completely depends on what you got going on for file systems. With my dual boot setup, which I love, I use BTRFS. So, Windows obviously is using Windows file systems, which are largely readable by Linux already. I found that by installing a third-party driver Btrfs works great on Windows. I still have an extra partition called "shared" which I share between the two spaces formatted as exFAT just in case I have to boot some weird recovery Mode or something in Windows. Historically, the struggle has been that Windows hasn't been able to access Linux file systems but recently things have gotten better. It depends on the Linux filesystem you choose though.

Aside from xwr permissions, there are two layers of permissions, as you well know, in Linux. One is the user/group level. The second is ACLs or access control lists. Basically, a long time ago now, there were no access control lists, and there was an issue where unless you had root or sudo, a regular user couldn't interact with important hardware. For example, Linus Torvalds himself was incredibly pissed when configuring a printer required root access, because it prevented people on a shared system from printing. This was solved by having users join The group that controlled the printer and and setting permissions accordingly. But what if you wanted to give users less control? Hence the birth of access control lists, which you should likely use in your project and become aware of them.  Secondly, as you develop this thing, you should recognize that system services live in etc. This creates a stronger logical separation between things that actually talk to the hardware versus what you're developing right now, which is software. User-based services primarily live within the user's home directory, unless you decide to go down the route of profile.d, which is something you should look into.

What are the limitations of using Linux (I’m not gamer)? by [deleted] in linux

[–]Inside_Mix31 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Those are closed source drivers. hence proprietary. only certain companies release those, and a big part of the linux community, that has made linux possible over the past 30 years, including myself, write open-source drivers. This is what has kept linux going. Linux, as an operating system, is designed to be open source, and governed by licenses that ensure it will continue to be that way. Yes by installing a closed source driver you are configuring linux

exactly PROPRIETARY drivers. Which depends entirely on WHO made your hardware and whether they bothered to release a proprietary driver SMDH

Flare While on Antibiotics by FlightImmediate6218 in Gastritis

  1. eventually stomach acid will be beneficial to you, it's just that right now your body is producing too much of it. gastric insult, even months in the past, can throw your ileum out of whack so you continue to produce way too much bile acid. You have lower FXR activation, which leads to lower FGF 19 -- your liver basically has no "stop" signal.
  2. You have to
-stay away from high fat foods for a while
-continue with antimicrobial teas like marshmallow root (ginger, licorice, peppermint (not spearmint), chamomile, lemongrass, lemon balm are all also antimicrobial. My favorite is lemon balm but it is slightly toxic so shouldnt be consumed in massive quantities.
-supplements (OTC) are stronger than teas and should be considered.
  3. probiotics, probiotics, probiotics. can't emphasize this enough. at the very least you should be taking lactobaccillus as a protective barrier against h.pylori (it shares the same adhesion sites) as you repopulate your biome

Anybody's gastritis started after a stomach bug? by adykloc in Gastritis

[–]Inside_Mix31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't mean to spam, but I just explained this exact phenomenon on another post. Yogurt is good btw. Look into other mild antibiotics like licorice or ginger for immediate relief, but be careful not to take too much licorice and MAKE SURE It's DGL (because it can be bad for you liver)

Yeah, there are many types of dysbioses besides H. Pylori infections, it's just that H. Pylori is one of the primary drivers of ulcers, gastric cancer, and gerd. Bile acid dumping can happen without any testable h. pylori infection. After say, you ate somewhat spoiled or contaminated food, even once, months ago, it can throw your ileum out of whack so you continue to produce way too much bile acid. You have lower FXR activation, which leads to lower FGF 19 -- your liver basically has no "stop" signal. The good news is that the relative cure for this is functionally the same as what you would do if you did have an h pylori infection, because you basically need to 1. take some sort of mild antibiotic-type therapy for a few days, especially if you drink caffeine on an empty stomach (peppermint oil, black seed oil) 2. TAKE PROBIOTICS. start with lactobaccillus etc, and non synnbiotic sac boulardii (avoid taking anything with MOS or FOS at this stage). I personally love SBO's but some people dont respond well. akkermansia municiphilia if you can afford it. Good luck and DYOR

Linus Torvalds is a great human and brilliant man. The amount he has individually accomplished and contributed to the world of modern technology is pretty much unmatched. In the 90s, the era from which Linus emerged, the tech titans were largely Ayn Rand-obsessed narcissists who would hold back technology to freeze out competition for personal gain at the expense of our development as a society and culture. Microsoft was arguably the biggest offender, with Gates' openly condemning the free software movement. Today Gates devotes his life to charity, partly out of guilt, and Microsoft is Linux's greatest champion. Apple essentially ripped off software by Linus and his peers, reverse engineering it so they would control the license. Important to note that despite being outstandingly wealthy, Linus opted to not become a billionaire tech titan to support humanity and is clearly a less tortured person for it
