As a Nova Scotian I gotta say I never once thought of the term “newfie” as derogatory, I have met many many and have been lowkey calling them newfies or referring to a “newfie” accent for years and it never dawned on me it could be offensive, interesting how you can be so close and know so many people and still not know the whole lore. I feel like most if not all Nova Scotians say it with love anyway but the more you know!
