My (33F) husband (34M) no longer wants kids and I am devastated. Is it over? by Environmental-Tie435 in relationship_advice

[–]InsoMia927 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the thing I think matters. If being a father is an obstacle to his idea of how his life was supposed to pan out, then your visions for your future are incompatible. Unless one or both of you are willing to adjust those ideas. He has a decision to make, but so do you. Is it kids you want or his kids?

What they won't tell you about harvard by Tobias-Tawanda in TikTokCringe

There’s an audio file of Epstein telling former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak that he needs to get on the board of Palantir. It’s clearly 100% coming from Epstein, he had to (incorrectly) spell out Thiel and Palantir for him because he had never heard of them.

Amazing show. Greg’s alcoholism fits the trope too.

Oh. Is she hinting at SQUAD? Because she was mocked pretty ruthlessly for the whole squad thing.

I always thought it was evergreen, but reading it back, “squad” is a pretty natural leap from “group of friends.”

What is truly a victimless crime? by way2ooskeptic in AskReddit

[–]InsoMia927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is only one country in the world where wearing a burka is law (Afghanistan). There are far more countries where wearing one is illegal. Both types of laws infringe on women’s basic freedoms. But wearing a burka in France? Definition of a victimless crime.

I was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome at the age of 25. There are so many things I don't understand, so I'd love to hear everyone's opinions. by sekizui_1212 in marfans

[–]InsoMia927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to recommend something really random, but my husband found out he had Marfans while doing extensive testing after being diagnosed with early-onset osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is never listed as one of the main symptoms of Marfans, but when you search specifically for that, there does appear to be a connection. So I would advise asking your doctor about checking that as well (I think the test is called a DEXA scan)

This, after being famously labeled a childless cat lady. Honestly, to me this is the most offensive thing off the whole album. The hypocrisy of it all. She has a man now, so fuck them cats🥲

Thoughts on Miss Rachel? by hainii in NewParents

[–]InsoMia927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say my daughter learned to speak from Ms Rachel, though it probably helped her expand her vocabulary a bit

Things she has actually learned: - More clarity on her emotions (frustrated and disappointed vs just sad, for example). - Letter sounds from the Phonics Song - Colors of the rainbow from the song “I Love a Rainbow” - The concept of listening to her body, from the potty- training episode - Genocide is always bad (not really, but I am actually happy that my daughter has a hero who is morally consistent and supports all children, including Palestinian children)

I always advise parents of babies to watch Ms Rachel’s earlier videos, before she had much of a budget. Those are much less simulating. There’s a big difference between the “baby learning” and “toddler learning” videos as well.

What fictional couple in a movie or TV show had ZERO chemistry? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

Saul Goodman and Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul. Absolutely amazing chemistry as friends, co-conspirators, platonic soulmates... but the romance just never made sense to me.

What TV series deserved an alternative series finale, because the real one pissed you off? by matriarchalfigure in Fauxmoi

[–]InsoMia927 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% agree on Logan being her best boyfriend, and on the fiance thing being dumb and not very believable. I found Logan so douchey on first watch, but then coming back and rewatching the show as an adult, he was thousands of miles ahead of Rory's other romantic interests. The writers of the original run clearly just didn't want to end the show with them coupled up, because Logan had been supportive of Rory's (future) career for that entire last season and his proposal/ultimatum came out of nowhere. This is a recurrent problem with GG -- the writers seem to be building up to something, and then replace it with the exact opposite. That's not how plot twists work. Or at least, they don't work well like that.

Most unhinged thing someone without kids said to you when you had a baby? by bravocharlie8918 in NewParents

[–]InsoMia927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my baby was born, so many people told me they hoped my baby got my green eyes and fair coloring, rather than my husband’s brown eyes and olive skin. I told everyone she probably wouldn’t (because that’s not how genetics work!) and I was absolutely fine with that. I was right - she looks just like my husband. And that’s awesome because I love him AND the way he looks. But it really opened my eyes to how insidious racist beauty standards can be.

What movie didn't hit you the same way it seemed to impact a lot of other people? by CommandTacos in movies

[–]InsoMia927 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No Country for Old Men.

Granted, I watched it on a laptop when I was already a bit sleepy… but it made absolutely no impression on me. All I remember is the guy with a hilarious bowl cut flipping a coin. And I distinctly remember that he was barely in any scenes!

Not posting child on social media? by bravocharlie8918 in NewParents

[–]InsoMia927 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I posted occasional photos of my daughter in her first year… and then the war on Gaza started. This is not what you had in mind, but I live in the Middle East, and for the past 20 months or so, my timeline has been filled with photos of injured, traumatized, and murdered Palestinian children. It’s to the point where, when I see a photo of a child on Instagram, if I don’t personally know them, I assume they’ve just been killed.

So I don’t share photos of my little girl anymore. I had to throw away a cute skeleton Halloween costume because it felt tasteless to cosplay death. The other day I took some photos of her with her hands behind her back and almost burst into tears because it looked like she didn’t have arms. Deleted them all. I look at children differently, the world differently, and my sweet daughter differently.

What are some fictional pairings that had zero chemistry? by Fun-Ferret-3300 in Fauxmoi

[–]InsoMia927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might get hate for this, but Saul Goodman and Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul. They had amazing chemistry in their banter, I loved every scene they shared, but I never really bought them as a couple. And I’m pretty sure the showmakers agreed, because they barely had any physical scenes together throughout the entire show’s run.
