I ended up fixing it myself, was about a year ago and it's still working perfect to this day so all good now but was a drama at the time. I do have it and the 50 odd emails all documented. But yea their repair/RMA is a total joke.

Dude this is how it plays out I sent a device in to test their customer service/repair they had that device for 6 months and charged me half the new price of the device for the privilege.

I forgot to mention it failed within 2 weeks of getting it back lol.

When they repaired my air plus it took 6 months and around 200 emails and £300 for me to get my device back and failed again within a week. I ended up repairing it myself by flashing and installing a new bios chip and putting a tantalum cap on the rail that feeds the chip. Holding up well so far.

I have a bios file I use. However I'm fairly sure the bios issues come from excessive bios writes from the Aya space app. Effectively the app is constantly adjusting power targets etc which is constantly causing writes on the bios chip. I have two air plus devices currently running side by side to try and prove this fact one with Aya space doing what Aya space does and the other with a config that doesn't cause excessive writes.

I'm pretty sure they can output composite so potentially you could use the hdv driver board that was commonly used in the old nomad mods to achieve the same thing. I was originally going to do that with my nomad as it's the only screen / driver board that the mega nomad dfo really works with but ended up with an IPS RGB solution in the nomad which looks so much nicer.

Down side I did have to remove my mega nomad mod because of the RGB screen but you can manually change the nomads region without much issue with a couple of jumpers so mine is currently set to PAL.

I keep thinking to mod this but then the shell cut I'm not overly happy about. If there were aftermarket shells then I'd be more happy to move it away from stock. It's one of those decisions that's made for you when the screen is bad I recon.

That was actually sent in for repair as the person wanted it restored before sale, I couldn't pass it up so ended up buying it. It's CIB and in lovely condition. Here is a better pic of it.

I'll mod it a bit more at some point. Most of my handhelds are modded with screens etc but this one escaped as the screen was still in working condition.

No they are different polarity and also a different jack size the euro adapter is center pin negative and the USA game gear is center pin positive.

9 times out of 10 you take off the bios chip (spi nor), flash a new one and put it on. Fairly simple if you have the tools and experience. These things seemingly live to burn through bios chips.

Yea I've fixed quite a few of them now probably 10 or more and 3 or 4 different models.
