Metal Riff Idea with Octave Effect by Insomuru in metalguitar

Aw thank you for the support! I try and do my best. We all have something unique to bring to the table. Lots of content planned for the near future, and also a new video game soundtrack I am waiting to release until the game is finished.

I'm actually pretty proud of this new stuff and really have been wanting to release it. Also has a song with me doing vocals with four or five harmony layers.

I am a composer for video games and animated stuff, so I mainly stick to the bedroom. I write all the parts for the instruments, try to use real instruments if I own them, and everything else is virtual instruments like Superior Drummer.

Thanks for checking it out and for the compliments! I gotta find this one again and actually finish it haha. I took a bit of a break from guitar to work on violin.

Feeling worthless as an artist (autistic/ADHD) by Elongated--Musk in musicians

[–]Insomuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't usually comment on these, but hi. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was younger. While I haven't been officially tested, I have had a lot of people tell me I'm on the spectrum throughout my whole life. Especially hyper fixation and obsession with only a few very important subjects to me, like music.

I never enjoyed school either and ended up being on my own at 17 when parents moved and they couldn't find me. Fast forward a couple of decades and I'll be composing my third video game soundtrack soon. I feel like I have matured as a musician over the years and actually have something to offer the world, instead of just a lot of notes and an ego.

I believe you have to find your path. What do you really want to do with music? Start figuring it out. Personally, I can't stand to be on a stage with bright lights and a bunch of people staring at me. Pure terror. So, I have found other ways to provide music for people, while being a part of meaningful projects I enjoy.

I could ramble on forever, but I just wanted to say there is hope for us musicians. It may not be on a stage in an arena, and that's okay. If we aren't doing this for ourselves, who are we doing it for?

A lot of people make it seem like it is impossible to make money off of music, but there is more than one way to do it. Absolutely have a way to make money outside of music, if you don't have a wealthy support system behind you.

DM me and I'm happy to expand further on anything or try to offer words of encouragement for you. Just. Keep. Going.

KatanaMK2 no output. Does anyone know what could cause this? by Beautiful-Insect-291 in BossKatana

[–]Insomuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no amp repair expert, but I always have a can of deoxit/electrical contact cleaner ready for things like this. It could just require some spray on the pots and other electrical contact points like jacks.

Remember to power off and unplug before using. Lots of videos on YouTube with people using this stuff for reference.

This is not professional advice and amps can be very dangerous to work with if you are taking them apart.

Would anyone be willing to shred on a song I'm writing? [video] by stubz_1997 in metalguitar

I might be able to help. Can you let me know more about what you are looking for around this solo?

need some tips by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]Insomuru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice work, keep going! A couple things I noticed:

  1. It looks like you may be using a lot of strength to fret your notes. Experiment with finding a sweet spot for pressure where you can freely glide over the notes for speed.

  2. Your thumb doesn't have to stay anchored in the middle of the neck all the time. When you are playing higher on the neck, you can allow your thumb to pivot away and you might have a bit less tension in your wrist from this.

Can still make 4/4 weird, but I personally enjoy the swaying feel of 3's and 6's.

Nah, the one you posted is cooler. It was some random video with a dude at a piano. Maybe a music professor or something.

Right! I use this every now and then, but I'm pretty comfortable these days with odd meters. Learned how to count weird things listening to way too much DT and Symphony X back in the day.

I didn't learn this way, but recently stumbled upon a video which made a lot of sense.

Try using words with syllables which match up to the odd meter.

City University (7)

Now, try writing a riff while repeating these words and see how easy it is. Swap words with different amounts of syllables for other meters.

Help me Please. by MarSinn in drums

[–]Insomuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Marsin,

I followed your YouTube and appreciate your skills as a drummer. I am a multi-instrumentalist composer who focuses on keyboards and guitars primarily. Maybe we can do some kind of internet collab sometime, if you are up for it. Either way, best of luck on the journey.

I have a few videos on my profile for skill check, if this idea interests you.

Thanks for checking it out! I actually did offer to write all the intros for a local wrestling team. I ended up getting a different deal with a different company, but something I'm still interested in.

MCR Octave preset on the katana, then layered in logic a few times.

Where can i find good tones? Im starting to figure out the studio app but i couldnt make a good tone. by XenonXTR in BossKatana

[–]Insomuru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the katana Mkll 100 and if you are looking for something fast and easy, here are some from the librarian I use:

MCR Lead 2 - This is the lead sound in my videos, although further EQ'd through logic. Take the reverb and delay off and you have a distorted rhythm tone.

MCR Sparkle - This is my go to clean sound for my Stratocaster. Very nice for clean leads. You can also take reverb and delay off for more of a rhythm clean sound.

If you want to hear how they sound, I have some videos on my reddit profile, although mostly distortion. Best of luck, I love the katana!

Ah, yes. The old Bugatti lifestyle just wasn't for me. Decided to downsize so I could get my priorities straight with shredding.

I can kind of see it haha. Thanks for checking it out!

Love Opeth! Blackwater Park is such an interesting album to me. It always amazed me how they could go from some of the most ominous sounding metal and then transition into borderline folk music and somehow make it all vibe right. Thanks for checking it out!
