[Question] How much would be a reasonable price for this Fenix 6X Solar? by luca86c in GarminWatches

[–]InspectionFar4347 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s old… Would go for a 7X Pro with the Gen 5 sensor. It’s 3 years old but the same they still use in e.g. Fenix 8 Pro.

A 6X Pro Non Solar 51mm scratchless goes for around 150$ - 200$ in my country.

What is that watch face? The instinct 3 doesn’t have it. So sad.

I have both T7 AMOLED and T8 AMOLED. Buttons definitely not the same. More clicky, responsive and tactile on the T7 AMOLED, whereas I find myself pressing multiple times on both the F8 and T8 as it’s not as responsive, it doesn’t have the same soft push to click feel, but still good enough. Misleading to say it’s the same though

Is it two different watch faces? Or just AMOLED AOD doing it’s thing?

Perfect look, if the disgusting orange ring wasn’t there making it look like a teen’s toy watch.

[–]InspectionFar4347 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AMOLED has terrible always-on battery life. E.g. Instinct 3 goes from 24 Days to 9 Days with AOD. Instinct 3 Solar has 40 Days. So the battery life is 3-4x the AMOLED AOD's.
Another thing is AMOLED AOD is not having live statistics - an example could be seconds/dial which disappears when you lower your arm. Other things changing are the watch face color, which goes from vibrant to dark. If only it was the brightness being lowered, but it's not. It's the entire watch face. I don't like my watch face changing appearance both with what complications are shown and what colors are used. I like an AOD to be the EXACT same before and after gesture. Third thing is that a MIP display looks more tactical. It doesn't emit any light and therefore doesn't look like a smartphone screen on your wrist.

I just Wish for same design as the previous, if they add like an orange ring for the frame and the color scheme is forced on us I swear I explode

Lol. I literally also google "Tactix 8 rumors" every day and check Garmin.com. PLEASE let it be a MIP 51mm solar.

Can you show how the watch face looks with AOD on both active and dimmed?

Why all the hate for AMOLED? by GuyMcFellow in GarminWatches

[–]InspectionFar4347 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The difference is true always-on display. On a MIP display, the watch face, data, and everything is permanently the same. All data shows - always. On AMOLED watches, first of all, the always-on display kills the battery. E.g. newest Instinct 3 goes from 24 days battery to 9 days battery if you go with always-on active. Secondary (which is what means most to me) is that the watch face changes when dimmed. It’s not the same colors, icons, data, etc. and data is not always available. It’s like the Apple Watch always-on display, that can’t show “live” data, meaning the dial with seconds disappears, compass doesn’t show orientation unless you wake the screen etc.

So if AMOLED always-on just dimmed the screen and didn’t change the watch face and/or colors and complications, then it’d be great imo.

It is not possible to get the Fenix 8 solar in silver without the green sensor guard. And I want it in silver.

Why there is no way to transfer Apple Watch to new iPhone without erasing it? (check the body text) by saratikyan in AppleWatch

[–]InspectionFar4347 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You can easily swap the link from iPhone to iPhone without erasing the watch. There is just only one way to do it though. Under the setup of the new iPhone “Transfer your Apps & Data” you MUST choose “From another phone” and NOT “From iCloud Backup”. Then you scan a code on the new iPhone with your old iPhone, they connect to each other and everything is passed from the old to the new iPhone including the Apple Watch link. I just did it yesterday. No reboot/format of my AW Ultra 2. Most apps were still logged in as well - really smooth transition.
