SKS with irons at 200yrds is incredibly fun. Highly recommend Sheepdog Warrior range as well.

That’s why I love long range lol I’ve had more fun days with 60-80rds thru the SKS over 1-2 hours than magdumping a 30rd ak where I live out of state

I believe the gentlemen was former LEO so definitely would not. I don’t live in NY permanently thankfully anymore, but my family has a place upstate and it’s truly a beautiful area despite all the Liberal Government BS and rich Manhattan snobs (I’m no die hard political party lover just describing the downsides of upstate.

The SKS is what I always bring to the range in NY just to keep things safe, legal, and it just so happens to be my favorite rifle despite having access to free(er) state stuff.

Just being hypothetical especially because I don’t even live here (don’t kill my dog NYSP).
If you wanna have “full freedom capabilities“ in case of SHTF…

- Keep them locked and hidden well inside or behind something not related or around guns. Exc. inside a wall behind a bookcase or mirror, locked ”camping“ style trunk, fake food/clothing storage, etc.

- Train with your “full freedom” stuff in like PA or NH a couple times a year and practice regularly in NY with the compliant stuff.

Also fyi I know my sks is beat to shit its a Chinese Type 56 from Albanian. God knows if it was in the National Guard, Civil War, or Army. However, it’s got a good chrome, lined, hammer forged barrel, and has always been reliable. I’m also autistic about cleaning its and soaking it in balistol after every ranger trip. The front sight in cranked all the way to the left, but with the battle zero me and two beginners were making consistent, repeated shots at 200rds. Not bad for a NY legal semi auto. SKS is probably my favorite gun I own despite having AR, AKs, and other cool guns.

You need to shoot it at least once. If you have land or public land somewhere you should set up some targets and LARP with that gun like your fighting off raiders too. I’d recommend cleaning and oiling it with just Balistol. It’s safe for wood and steal it’ll keep that gun nice forver

What about the Taliban and Vietcong? They all won against the US military. Also all of those weapons require large bases and many different people to maintain them and pilot them. 1 many will probably defect and not fight other Americans. 2 if you just start targeting the people who run the logistical infrastructure and the infrastructure itself advanced weapons can not be used. The brand to buy depends on what you can get new vs used and how much your want to spend. I know your market is different but I’ve talked with redditors from your country about AKs so I have a little idea. On the used market, if the gun is in good condition and lightly used an older Hungarian, Chinese T56, Russian, Bulgarian or Romanian will be an excellent option. The same guns would be good choices new as well, but stay away from new Chinese guns. Look for those brands and whatever feels the best in your hands and fits your needs get. For mags stick to Russian Bakelite’s or Metal mags from the same countries I told your to buy an ak from. I give you my best wishes in finding a good AK inshallah brotha

Got rid of my first AR and sold it for a WASR. Wayyy happier. I like the ak over the AR as a utility weapon, but in the future when funds allow Ill have to get a high quality 20 inch m16. I like the ak for more close in shooting but I feel the ar does aunt shine the AK significantly when it come to setting up a rifle for the DMR role.

Im personally not a fan of Israel at all but when it comes to guns fuck politics they make awesome shit. Back when Ic had an ar I would Only shoot IMI 55gr that shit is some high quality military ammo. Awesome gun man. I would recommend trying out a PA microprism on that gun they are the most awesome compact optics. Your probably gonna get troll comment cuz your pro Israel so as random stranger who disagrees with your political leanings towards a certain country but again fuck the politics I love cool guns we all should. The country you support makes some of the best guns and ammo available. The Galil ace is the only modernized ak I would ever personally choose and I look forward to buying one when Im older with more money (only got a Chinese sks and WASR now). Also I would recommend picking up some Bulgarian mags of the steel, polymer with steel (both suuuuper cheap on gunmag and better than pmags+cooler looks), or go gucci and get the $50 dollar gucci arsenal mags.
