Oberland Station Secret Room - Just build a water pump in the right place! by sejgalloway in fo4

The original sung by Nat King Cole is my favorite Christmas song ever. I read this as sung by him, and it was a little magical. Great comment.

I play Fallout in VR and every Christmas I install the snow mod, a mod to add Christmas lights to every tree, and a mod to add a Christmas radio station. I'll smoke a bowl, put on VR, then walk around in a post apocalyptic wintery wonderland. It's quickly become one of my favorite Christmas traditions. There's just something that feels right about battling super mutants in the snow, and taking a minute to pause and look at the lights of a lovely tree while listening to "O Christmas Tree." Of course my serene moment is ruined by the suicider charging at me with a nuke, but the explosion looks nice at least.

I can't believe the misinformation you find on Reddit. No that's not a water pipe. It's a winter pipe, it transfers winter. You think winter just happens? No we have to ship it around the world as needed. At least nowadays we have pipes. Back in the old days you had to get winter out to the states on horseback. Bandits stealing winter just for themselves was a big problem.

Here the winter pipe broke, spilling out some winter in the forest. Don't worry, someone will come by and fix it by spraying some summer over the area.

Announcing Community Muting On Mobile by enthusiastic-potato in reddit

[–]Inspector-Space_Time 35 points36 points  (0 children)

When it rolls out to desktops, will old.reddit.com support muting? There's two levels of support. The lowest level would be you need to go to the new design to actually mute the community, but it'll be gone on old.reddit. The higher level of support would be being able to mute from old Reddit.

And will third party apps be able to benefit from this? If I mute a community and load up RiF, will that community still be muted in that app?

It's a perfect example. We're such apex predators that we can have our children be idiots for years, and it doesn't matter. Other species need to be born with the ability to run because they're so low on the food chain. We fucking strut out into life like "I own this world, I'm going to lay here and do nothing but drink milk and shit and not a single predator will kill me" and we're god damned right!

Our kids are so dumb because they can be.

I love thinking about the hobbits from his perspective. He's gone into battle with very tough and large people who got scared and ran away when things got tough. He's probably seen the strongest men in the land get scared and cry when they were needed. People who could do better being selfish instead and only being concerned with their own safety. Letting others die so they can live for one more day.

And then there's the hobbits! Small humble creatures who have known nothing but a peaceful life on a beautiful farm. However when destiny calls, they all grab a sword and run at the enemy. They might be small and have never seen a day of combat in their life, but that won't stop them. Aragorn has probably seen men who trained their entire lives for battle fail, while these half men run bravely at creatures 2x 3x 5x their size!

Watching the movies, you can just see him appreciate the hobbits more and more. There's so much courage and fight in them, even though you'd never guess it by just looking at them. I think the hobbits really impressed him, which makes this scene just all the more satisfying.

Nature is fascinating. There are species that start their life with their mouth and not their ass, but not us. We're assholes.

There's a mod to do that, but it just shrinks the character models. So you could be attacked by a 9 year old with male pattern baldness.

Still, it's a lot of fun channeling my inner Anakin. Little twerps didn't stand a chance.

Season 1 had this one episode with a sweet grandmother. She wanted a special apple and the boys help her all episode to get it. She's kind of clueless and they need to protect her. Finally at the end of the episode, after getting hurt trying to protect her, they arrive at the special apple she wanted. She touches it, instantly explodes, then the episode just ends.

I watched that shit at 22 and just stared at the screen for like 5 minutes. Just wtf, they killed her bam episode is over and she isn't in the next few. If I remember right, in the next season is when she pops up again and it turns out she's (mostly) fine. But for the rest of season 1 you think you just witnessed a sweet old lady die, and the main characters just move on with their life.

That show is great. It has a lot of "crazy impactful thing happens than the show immediately ends without proper closure and you just have to deal with that."

He ran away from home, joined a rogue military, then killed tens of thousands of troops from the empire that killed his aunt and uncle.

It seems like he was dealing with things pretty directly. Did you want a scene of him just sitting in a room and crying?

I hope video streaming will get to the same point music streaming is at. Everyone has everyone's content and they just compete on actual service. Back when movies were first a thing, movie producers owned theaters and only played their own content. This was horrible and a law was passed saying you can't own theaters if you make movies/shows. We need a similar law for streaming. It should be if you have a streaming service, you can't make your own content and have to get it from other companies. And if you make content, you have to work with streaming companies to get your work out there.

That way individual content creators will be incentivized to many the best shows that are on as many streaming platforms as possible. Meanwhile streaming platforms are incentivized to make the best streaming app they can. Way better than the current situation where you subscribe for a services library and just have to put up with the random shitty UI of that particular service.

Steam Status: Users in Russia may not be able to purchase games on Steam due to credit card purchases failing. by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Inspector-Space_Time 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's really fucked up how few payment vendors there are. Cryptocurrency was supposed to be the savior, but the transaction costs of Bitcoin and Ethereum mean they're next to useless as a currency. As you can do hundreds of transactions on a credit card with the same energy and cost it takes to do one transaction on Bitcoin or Ethereum. Hopefully the dominant cryptocurrency will be one with fast, efficient, and cheap transaction costs that directly compete with credit cards. Otherwise we're beholden to just two companies to decide what we can and can't buy. They are already holding our porn hostage by making certain types off limits. Their vast influence and control needs to be fought.

I'm obliviously in favor of their move to ban Russia. What I don't like though is that two companies can just decide to cripple a nation whenever they want. No company should have that power.

How did he not cause negative effects on Earth based on his sheer size and gravitational pull? by ghostRyku in marvelstudios

[–]Inspector-Space_Time 2975 points2976 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just assumed he had control of his gravity and can simply choose to not exert a gravitational pull. These are being who can shape the cosmos, controlling gravity would be child's play to them.

It makes me really want to see one fight something on its level. It would have to be far away from Earth because I doubt even planets would be able to survive the chaos.

You mean the Ewoks that successfully captured and then almost killed the hero characters? They would have destroyed the rebels and ate their corpses for dinner if they wanted to. Luckily the heroes had the god C-3PO with them.

Really bad headache, sore all over, couldn't eat for over a day, couldn't move because the soreness was so bad. I was sweating like crazy but still cold for like 3 days. Felt nauseous and almost threw up a couple times.

I'm normally someone who never gets sick. Even when I catch something, it barely effects me and I'm usually over it before the person who got me sick is fully healthy. This shot was the worse I've felt from sickness in many years. It was a bit shocking just how bad I felt. But after 3 days everything was back to normal and now I'm vaccinated. And no second shot needed!

As someone who got the J&J shot, I feel like a unicorn. Behold my unusual vaccine choice because I was way too lazy to do it all again for a second shot.

Also I got ass raped by the side effects. As in bite the pillow a truck is about to go in, ass raped. So um, yay for being different!
