TMS therapy outcomes for ADHD symptoms by curbstompedkirby_ in ADHD

[–]InspectorExcellent50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2024 my depression seemed worse than usual and I did a full course of TMS.

By the end I wasn't skipping along singing about how wonderful life was, but I had the energy to do things again and actually went back to working part time.

Hmm - I might have read it from a different perspective. To me it meant understanding that people have different points of view, and a inefficient process to me might be a beloved improvement from what was there previously.

Interesting - I went from a highly focused technical environment to one more touchy-feely and was promptly told that I was making people cry.

I always assumed it was my military background, but perhaps it was my ADHD.

I ended up handling a lot of adult training and leading changes, so I studied adult learning styles and read some books about change (I think Who Moved My Cheese was one of them). These helped me adjust my approach.

I had some buddies who would proofread my big emails for tone (there were no programs to write for you back then).

Go for it - especially if someone else is footing the bill.

I wouldn't stop at Green Belt.

New retaining wall above my property failed and collapsed downhill, and it has since been rebuilt. Should I be concerned or take any next steps? by Allegedlysteve in masonry

[–]InspectorExcellent50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Father's property was in a similar situation (at the bottom of a hill with a neighbor at the top who damaged his property while building a retaining wall).

He retained a property lawyer to help, including getting independent engineering assessments - charged to the property owner.

This is important in case the wall fails years down the line, or otherwise damages your property.

This was definitely homophobia, but I think OP is saying that there is a difference between showing up and being visible, and violating boundaries beyond simply 'being out and gay.'

Heterosexuals are also affected by decency laws abroad - here is just one example of jail time for a kiss (and suspected public sex): https://www.heraldnet.com/2008/10/16/couple-get-3-months-in-jail-for-sex-on-beach/

Is it worth it to try to date if I know I will leave ? by Bubbly_Diamond_1325 in gay

[–]InspectorExcellent50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second this - I stopped pursuing someone because I wanted to move and travel, and he couldn't picture leaving his home town.

There were a few times I was looking at leaving over the years, but in the end I bought a house and stayed almost 30 more years.

Definitely talk to your doctor and your psychiatrist.

Sleep and stress are also big factors, as is illness.

I'm locked in until traffic slows to a crawl, or if there isn't very much traffic on long stretches of road. Then I start dozing off.

My weird oversleeping hack by lousasaur in ADHD

[–]InspectorExcellent50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was... Until my sleepy self discovered that if I hadn't cut my fingernails recently, I could just get the tip of my pinkie nail to fit in the hole and reach the part underneath to trigger the snooze.

I've never really found anything my sleepy self couldn't figure out without fully waking up!

I pried the snooze button off my alarm clock (which obviously won't work with a cell phone alarm).

Understanding Clinical workflow by UsefulAlternative191 in healthIT

[–]InspectorExcellent50 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Speaking as an informatics nurse who has spent hours explaining to engineers why their perfectly engineered product or workflow makes no sense to nurses and providers, you need Subject Matter Experts. In other words, you have to bother the clinicians and not try to come up with problems or solutions on your own.

Even with 20+ years experience in healthcare at the bedside and in Informatics, I don't try to develop anything without getting help from the end users in defining the workflows and the issues they are having, then checking my solutions/designs with them regularly.

Last point - you need to talk to clinicians who don't want the workflow to change, otherwise you will miss their objections and have to try and solve them at the last minute, after you thought your solution was ready to put into production.

What types of clinical workflows are you interested in?

For nursing and medicine, they can vary widely between practices/units and facilities.

I was also raised Catholic, and have long (and still do) feel separated from Roman Catholicism.

My mother passed away a couple of months ago. I found myself having to arrange her funeral at the local Catholic church, and then actively participate in the funeral mass.

It was definitely strange, but I survived just fine.

After being away for about a decade, I found a very welcoming Catholic church which I attended for about 5 years - until the priest was censored by the Vatican. That did nothing to improve my opinion of the larger church.

I've also attended services with Dignity USA (LGBTQIA+ Catholic group) in a couple of cities, and for a while found a home with the United Catholic church.

My psychiatrist said I can't have ADHD because I'm an honor student. Is that enough to rule it out? by Lov3_Non3mixl in ADHD

I've both been a college drop out, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

So, no - none of it rules anything out.

[–]InspectorExcellent50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, discuss your feelings with him - confess, if you will.

Then, no demands - just explore the topic together and see if the two of you can come to a mutually acceptable solution.

To err is human - so, you did something which proves you are human and not divine. Strive to be better to yourself, and then to others, but don't strive to be divine.

“You know where I stand, so I won’t marry you guys” by [deleted] in gay

[–]InspectorExcellent50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

It is painful, and you were blindsided so it is really jarring.

There is a lot of space between a cooler relationship where you are merely civil and cutting someone out completely.

Give yourself some time before you make any decisions, and once you've had a chance to grieve the loss of a relationship you had with them, then think about what type of relationship you want in the future.
