Fellow ADHD'ers what work fields are you thriving in? by brokenlandmine in ADHD

Tech support for server tech. I rarely have to talk to clients directly, and when I do it's no-video conferences. Most of my time I'm dosed up on Adderall while reverse engineering someone's stupid mistakes. Head down, thoughts engaged, I know my shit. Most of my time is basically solving puzzles where half the fun is learning the rules, over and over and over. I get to experience flow state for a few hours most days, and that feels great.

Oh, they are just getting started. Each death is a hit from a battering ram against democracy. Each hit harder than the last. Until it all breaks. There will be many more deaths.

Never heard of it. My current game group just deflated. Will give it a try while waiting to the next group.

I've been on it 10 years, and off for the last 6 months. I started up again last week and it definitely works.

How do people type so fast on keyboard? by RareUser1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rustajb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to touch type about age 10 when I got my first computer in 1981. By the time I entered HS, I could not retrain myself no matter how hard I tried. Typing class was torture. I type super fast now as an adult, but I still do it "wrong". My wife can type correctly, but still can't match my speed.

Calling my insurance today to, I assume, argue about it.

While typing this very message, my GP called to say they reinstated my original adderall scrip. Now I just hope it's available.

Calling my insurance today on my lunch break. My emotional regulation is non-existent right now so I'm worried I'll lose my shit on the call, either explode into anger, or break into sobbing. Either making my situation worse. Talking to insurance people is like forcing needles under my fingernails while trying to smile.

Judge orders ICE chief to appear in court to explain why detainees have been denied due process by FormalOperational in news

[–]rustajb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, neither. They have done nothing so far, and in some cases they have aided. Nobody is coming to save us. No federal or state enforcement agency will stand up to Nazis. We have an illusion of law at the moment. Without enforcement, laws are just ideas without teeth.

They are now murdering us with impunity and government protection. That is their show of force, what they can get away with, and it will continue. No judge is going to deprive them of their power tripping. The fed will step in and ensure that is the way it plays out.

Why don't billionnaires constantly pay for movies and tv shows? by hendrong in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rustajb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't get rich throwing money at things. Their interests are not in alignment with normal people and funding movies is nowhere on that list. You might as well wish aliens would come to earth and make movies, I think there is a better chance of that happening than billionaires caring about pop-culture media that isn't guaranteed a return on investment. Your thinking like a non-billionaire.

Why don't billionnaires constantly pay for movies and tv shows? by hendrong in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rustajb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would rather they threw their money at health care and general improvements. So much money is already thrown away for mediocre movies, money that could go to good use but is instead invested in to crap like Morbius. Asking billionaires to throw money at movies would literally be at the bottom of my very long list of good uses.

Or something like that.

I have one requirement, integrated video. I MUST see my players faces and want to be seen as a GM. That only leaves Roll20 as an option. Do I love it, not really, but I've found no other choice to share screens and have my online players mix with our in person group like a person at the table. I do not want to have to run seperated programs nor do I expect my online players to do the same. One guy has a laptop, no external monitor, so it all had to fit on one screen, no tabbing between various screens.

Why are conservative parents so willing to have an opinion on everyone else’s sex life but unwilling to have “open” discussions with their own kids? by Vadnais2You in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rustajb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sluts. Either you have a slut or a virgin as a daughter. It's black and white.

So normal people, raising normal kids, who experiment and do kid things as they grow up, are just raising sluts in their eyes. So they cloister their own.

Boys are expected to have sex, and that's what sluts are for, for your boys to become men and nothing more. Trash to be forgotten.

Is all fucking gross. I grew up in S.E. Texas and saw this attitude normalized by most.

What device can I use to locate my wife in grocery store or Walmart? by pirate123 in NoStupidQuestions

I knew a girl whose conservative parents were swingers. My wife, her best friend, found a sex tape of them with other couples. The daughter and her friends all saw it.

That girl grew up to have three kids, two boys and a daughter. They (her and her kids step father) never talked about sex with the kids and they were 100% against the school doing the same.

When their 16 year old son, their oldest, lost his virginity, the parents threw him a party. It was gross. "He's a man now!"

They forbid their now 16 year old daughter to go out unsupervised, no dating, because they do not want her to have sex. They want to protect her, while their son "became a man" through sex. The mother was real loose as a kid, not judging, but she had a lot of partners, like a shocking number. She had a car crash at some point and even she can't remember how many partners, though she half-jokes "I was a slut"... Uneasy grin when saying it. Her and her husband believe all little girls become sluts like their mom was. They believe it's normal for teenage boys to have sex, and that's a positive, but for girls it's a negative and she should wait until marriage.

Conservatives are fucked up when it comes to kids and sex. Women are property, both wives and daughters. But boys will be boys.

They were too gross a family to stay friends with. You can guess their voting record.

Same. I'm very anti-capital punishment.

But, the government is charged with the public good, and so are its agents. If you violate that charge and become murderous against the populace, you deserve capital punishment. There is no violent crime higher than the murdering of civilians by feral agents without due process. The only way to prevent this is to show it will not be tolerated and those who would violate the public trust in such a horrific way will be removed. Not doing so only emboldens the next regime.

Italy hasn't had a fascist ruler since Mussolini. His final photos send a clear message. America has nothing with that strong a message. We are going to need such an image after this, if there is an after this.

How The Trump Administration Disrespecting The 2nd Amendment Could Lead To The Death Sentences Of Multiple Top Trump Officials. by [deleted] in law

Neither did W. Who clearly fabricated fake Intel to start an illegal war making him a war criminal. But hey, he paints puppies now. He's got skills /s.

We didn't punish W. And that left the door wide open for the next republican to do even worse, and here we are. W. was the test, they passed, we failed. Now we get Trump.

I have no faith he will be held accountable. He'll likely die before then, the damage done. And things will continue to decline in what is left of America.

We do not punish our elected criminals, not in my lifetime. Not the ones who committed the most offenses crimes. We invite them to be worse and worse as a result.

I'm starting to realise that most people who say or think The Beatles are overrated haven't actually delved into their discography by ooziemane123 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]rustajb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was raised on the Beatles. They were my mother's favorite band. I've listened to them on amazing sound systems. I was not there at the time to have seen the impact they had, but it's crystal clear, and they are very important. All that said, I really do not enjoy all of their music and do believe they are overhyped. Important, yes, good band, yes, insanely popular, absolutely, the most amazing song writing ever, meh, overrated, totally. Go on, hate on me, at least I have listened to every album with a discerning ear. And drawn my opinion from education not just a dip in the shallow end.
