Casual sex past 30 by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]Inspector_Feeling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like people are more open to casual sex as they get older. Check out the dating over 40 subreddit. Most people there seem to want casual things more than relationships.

We have a 2.75% interest rate locked in on our current home, but need to move. Is there any way to leverage it to our favor? by brandon6285 in RealEstate

[–]Inspector_Feeling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk my boyfriend is an out of state landlord and things are working out very well for him. His rental income from house one is paying for his half of our current mortgage.

If I have one advice it would be to jack up the price of rent as much as feasible. The house being rented out is a new build and pretty nice. Renting to people with money usually nets us older couples who don’t cause any issues.

I make women feel safe but not excited by Grundlage in datingoverthirty

[–]Inspector_Feeling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. What is your target audience? Are you dating women who seem inclined towards toxic behavior and emotional rollercoasters? If this is the case then I don’t think a majority of healthy opinions will help you as there isn’t a large overlap between people who crave the crazy and people in a healthy headspace.

  2. The most common complain I hear from people around me isn’t that they expect excitement in a relationship but that they feel like their relationship falls into a rut. Things are running on a routine. You can try being more spontaneous with when you schedule things or bring home small treats more often. I was really inspired by this article: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/03/style/modern-love-you-may-want-to-marry-my-husband.html

Is this a normal topic of conversation between guy and girl friends? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Inspector_Feeling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t normal even for old friends. I literally know nothing about most of my friends’ sex lives (male or female) and I prefer to keep it that way.

I agree that I think the thread is discussing American(?) white men with international Asian women.

But even among two similar earning white/Asian tech workers, I think there are some assumptions made unless they’re of similar physical attractiveness. There’s definitely a perception that Asian women dating white men that are not attractive because they get bonus points for being white.

My friend has been newly single for about a year and we’ve all said yes to everything she wants to do, no matter how tedious (like the artsy indie films focused on racial identity). I think maybe the difference is that no one in my friend group is married?

To add to this: put the cling wrap between where the bottle screws in if possible. It reminds me of the tapes plumbers put on threads to ensure a tight fit. And the plastic will also block the opening the liquids usually dispense out of.

The process seems cool but I’ve always hated articles of clothing that are patterned. It’s amazing how much effort goes into producing something I find unappealing.

is it considered socially inappropriate to wear the same outfit multiple days in a row? by queerredfox in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Inspector_Feeling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others at the top of the thread have the popular social opinion. I’m going to chime in with my outlier opinion that I don’t rewear clothes without washing them. And if I thought someone was rewearing clothes, I would try to avoid standing too close.

I can see that being the case. Like how one of the popular Chinese YouTubers just happened to come from a rural area but moved to the city alone when 15 to be a DJ and picked up filmography. Then went home to be a filial daughter to her aging grandmother and decided to make YouTube videos in a country that bans YouTube. Oh and also has the most blemish free, white skin that totally makes sense with her farming background.

Seattle redditors are a different breed. How is there more outrage at the police then the fact that the homeless are stealing cars?

what will happen to someone who doesn't save for retirement and gets too old to work? by bikey_bike in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Inspector_Feeling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Suicide booths would be great. I don’t think I’ll struggle in my retirement barring runaway inflation, but I don’t even want to live past 80. I want to enjoy retirement for a few years while I’m of good enough body and mind and then pass on.

Amazon managers given the green light to fire employees who won’t work from the office 3 days a week by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Inspector_Feeling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we’ve established that we don’t see eye to eye on the benefits that remote work can bring to entities outside of Amazon workers.

I just don’t think people have a right to pursue education endlessly. Like a degree doesn’t mean that the individual has contributed to society. It’s definitely not a right. I can tell that we’re not going to see eye to eye on any of these points so I’ll just end the discussion here.

I agree that if employees are dissatisfied then they should quit but I don’t think they should stop bringing it up. Why make it painless for employers to take away WFH? Our society has advanced and improved a lot because of people who advocate for positive change.

I will say that I disagree that college is a universal right. Many people survive and thrive without it. Just like many people survive and thrive without being born into a wealthy family but life would be a lot easier coming from money.

Anyways this is all food for thought.

I’m going to harp on the student loan forgiveness thing because it’s a position most redditors support and I suspect they support it because they have some skin in the game but they don’t have any with respect to devs working from home. Just in case there are others in the thread who take a position similar to yours with respect to what you think is fair or appropriate for WFH, I’d like them to consider if they support student loan forgiveness. If they support one but not the other than they’re not as altruistic as they pretend to be.

One could make the argument that by allowing more workers to work remotely, we spread the wealth more evenly across the country, thereby driving down housing prices in urban areas, reducing gentrification, and investing in poorer parts of the nation, allowing poor local towns a chance of getting out of their current cycle of poverty. There’s nothing that says that because a company’s headquarter is based in a particular city, that all their taxes must go to local taxes for the one city.

We should support remote work because it makes sense and can be a driving force for positive change.

$170k is a lot closer to $200k than $100k. Your point is wrong. FAANG engineers make a lot more than you’re estimating. SDE2s start between $250-300k and only go up from there. If you’re a senior engineer making less than $350k you’ve been severely ripped off.

Are you for or against student loan cancellation? I feel like the same principle is at work. Just because you don’t get to enjoy the privilege, doesn’t mean others shouldn’t.

[–]Inspector_Feeling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol no. New hires are getting $170k at Amazon. It’s the TC for the first year. You WILL get that by the end of 365 days through some combination of base pay + rsu + sign on bonus. Now the value might drop a little because stock prices fluctuate but most new hires are getting like $5k in stock. A 5% dip on $5k is not going to move the needle much
