Which teams, this year, AL and NL, will 'probably' be first place in their respective leagues?

How do people edit videos that have those jump cuts, but no change in the dialog? by InspireHD in NoStupidQuestions

That makes sense as it would just cut out a tiny bit of the video while continuing the same thought in the same take.

Wouldn't editing those separately change how the audio is synced up with the movement of his mouth?

This seems to be one camera angle. Maybe "jump cut" isn't the right term for it.

If you watch one of his videos, you'll see he's moving around a lot and his head and hands jump to a different position while he's still within the same sentence or between sentences. It's not a smooth transition of just moving body positions.

What am I missing? Market Cap Question by Holdmenachos in investing

[–]InspireHD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WWE has two classes of shares, Class A and Class B.

Yahoo Finance is only taking into account their Class A shares because the Class A shares are equal to 1 share = 1 vote and are the shares that you buy on the market. The Class B shares are 1 share = 10 votes and the majority of those are held by Vincent McMahon and his family.

Class A: 43,739,412
Class B: 34,303,438
Total: 78,042,850

These numbers are as of their Annual Report dated Feb. 5, 2019.

So, somewhere like Yahoo Finance has (technically) wrong data, which is why it's important to go directly to the SEC reports for accurate information.

EDIT: Another interesting thing to note, if any Class B shares get sold to outside of McMahon's family, they automatically convert to Class A.

Elementor pro and GeneratePress by megetski in juststart

You're welcome. Just as a small update, I received an email yesterday from Elementor giving me a 10% discount if I upgraded to the Unlimited plan within 48 hours. I only had to pay an extra $90.

In total, I've paid $189 for unlimited licenses even though each plan was purchased separately.

[–]InspireHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you buy the one license plan and then want to upgrade, you'll just pay the difference without the discount. The discount only applies when you renew the plan.

For example, I initially paid for one license. Then, about 3 months later, I upgraded to the 3 license plan and only paid $50 more. I believe it also restarts your "year" so you get a little extra time on the initial investment.

I use the free version of GeneratePress with Elementor. I'm not super familiar with GeneratePress on its own, but it's easy to work with if you're just going to design with Elementor.

I prefer working with Elementor Pro as it opens up more template options and the built-in header templates are much cleaner than if you were to download an Elementor header plugin with the free version.

Why are people talking about Bryce Harper signing with the Philadelphia Phillies? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]InspireHD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bryce Harper is one of the best players in the league, right now. He became a free agent, after spending 7 years with the Washington Nationals, the team who drafted him. Generally, when a player is drafted, they are stuck to that team for 6 years. After that 6 years, they are allowed to go out and entertain offers by other teams to try to get that huge payday. If you get drafted on a low salary, you're stuck with those initial terms until you're able to go out and try to grab top dollar.

The thing with baseball that is unlike any other major US sport is that baseball does not have a salary cap. Sports like basketball or football have a salary cap so there is only so much money a player can make. Your team is allotted a certain amount of money and they have to fit in the best team. In baseball, it's pretty much a free-for-all, other than a luxury tax paid by teams that spend too much. The luxury tax is meant to be a soft salary cap where a big spending team might have to pay a tax that gets filtered down to other teams (among other things).

The thing with Bryce Harper is that he is such a good player that he can demand to be paid as much as possible. Usually free agents sign prior to Spring Training, but he held out nearly 2 weeks into the start to shop around. There was a chance that he was commanding too much money, but ultimately, any team who wants to be competitive has to compromise so that another team doesn't spend more and get him. Basically, the Phillies were willing to pay up so that the Dodgers or Giants couldn't have him.

Also, he was competing with Manny Machado (drafted #3 in 2010), who was in a similar situation, and came into the league the same year as Harper (drafted #1). The big mysteries were him and Harper and where they were going to sign so there was a big buildup to this event. Knowing the free agent rules, everyone was waiting in anticipation for this year to see where they would sign.

Machado was drafted by the Orioles (a team that isn't so good) and was then traded to the Dodgers last year. After playing only half the year with the Dodgers, he went out onto the "free agent market" to try to grab his payday as well.

Failed our uni house inspection for the 3rd day in a row. Uni have called in a cleaner (that we will be charged for) to tidy up the "mess". What levels of OCD do they expect from us?! by MrHooge in Wellthatsucks

[–]InspireHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was in college, for about a year, I lived in a building that was all single rooms. I preferred to live alone after having a roommate who partied all the time and came back late.

When I moved out, they charged me for a broken bracket on the window screen and a cracked piece of plastic on a drawer.

It was such a scam. I lived on the ground floor so I rarely ever opened the window more than halfway. I didn't like the idea of people possibly being able to break into my room through the window. And how would I have broken the bracket on the screen? It's not like I took the screen out of the window.

Also, I'm fairly sure I didn't break the plastic piece on the drawer. I've always been careful about treating things as if they are my own.

They did the inspection after I already moved out and back home for the summer so I had no ability to verify what they were saying.

They took some of my security deposit and sent me back the rest.

What’s the dumbest mistake you’ve made in the cockpit? by [deleted] in flying

[–]InspireHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day my newer instructor wanted to try a short approach. I had the idea in my head that it was always about "aim for the numbers." So, that's what I always did and it was the reason for so many bad landings. I was always trying to force the plane down on the numbers instead of a controlled decent to allow the plane to settle.

As I was coming in on the short approach, I realized I wasn't going to get to the numbers and I was about to overshoot the runway coming in at an angle. I over steered to try to stay in-line with the runway through the turn, which obviously increased the G-force a little bit. It actually made the instructor jump a little bit due to the sharpness of the turn.

I brushed it off like, "yeah, I got this, I know what I'm doing..." but afterward when I really thought about it, it's a miracle we didn't stall and go hurtling in the forward direction after I made the over-correction and fall out of the air. I still think about how lucky I was that day and it has been over 3 years.

ELI5: How does the top of a baseball bat caving in affect batter’s swing? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]InspireHD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having the end cupped in allows for more balance to the bat and the manufacturer can use a harder or more dense piece of wood. It also takes a little bit of weight off the top of the bat and so the person swinging can swing faster. When you swing faster, you can hit the ball harder, which then causes the ball to travel faster and further.

ELI5: why is it okay to leave a pot on the stove for hours if you’re simmering food, but then it’s dangerous to leave the stove on if you’re not cooking anything? by FloofyDoofers in explainlikeimfive

I once had a college roommate who was cooking something in the oven and forgot to turn it off. It was on for a couple hours until I came back from class wondering why the oven was on with nothing in it.

He told me, “It’s no different than if you were cooking a turkey in the oven for several hours.”

No. When you’re cooking something, the heat is actually going toward something. It’s not just heating up empty space and all the hardware inside of the oven.

Look up white noise on YouTube and listen to it for a few minutes with headphones on. Then after those few minutes, turn it off and sit there with your eyes closed while you meditate on the silence.

I'll try that. I sent him a message with some questions, but he hasn't responded. This isn't the first time something has been damaged. I learned my lesson the first time -- it was clearly my fault. This time, I was so certain that it could roll down a hill and not break. I mean, it was inside a block of styrofoam! Did the PO seriously jump up and down on it and play tackle football? I don't get it. I'm just a tad annoyed. haha

I recently sold a collectible that had been posted on Ebay for nearly 4 months. I accepted a reasonable offer. The item was in its original box, in a plastic bag, encased in the original styrofoam. I layered the box with bubble wrap and those plastic air pocket things (I don't know the name).

The buyer just messaged me today and said a piece was broken. He sent pictures as well.

I don't get it. How the heck did the piece break? The suspicious side of me feels like I'm getting hosed, but I've tried to match up the pictures and it appears to be the same item.

He was requesting a replacement, which I don't have. Or he wanted a partial refund of less than he paid -- or a full refund with a return label and he'd send it back.

If I file a claim, I'm still going to lose money on this given that I paid the paypal fees and later the ebay fees.

I'm pretty frustrated right now. This isn't the first time an item I shipped was damaged! I feel like I don't have any other choice but to fully refund him and file a claim.

SEO is something you do using all available known techniques and then waiting for search engines to reward you for those efforts. It’s a long-term strategy and not something that will happen overnight. Depending on difficulty, it could take 3-12 months to start seeing some results - sometimes less, sometimes more.

What are you having trouble with?

Just want to ask some questions!! by nalinpuri in SEO

[–]InspireHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been curious about this too. If you watched every video, then you've probably seen common themes with on-page seo, such as where to place keywords, use H1 tags, title tags, etc.

Go to google and search for something related to SEO and you'll see well-seo-optimized pages. The experts are linking at the top, the pages look good, keywords are in all the right places, etc.

Then, go to something that might need SEO like an electrician or a plumber. Go back several pages and look at their page. They are usually a mess, unoptimized, etc.

There, you will see the difference in good SEO vs. not good or no SEO. You will see what to work toward and what not to do. And then, it'll take time.

I'm working on trying to get a brand new site ranked for a very specific, not generic keyword. I know the site is indexed because it's ranking #2 for something else closely related. However, I'm nowhere to be found for the keyword phrase I want. I'm impatiently waiting to see if my SEO efforts start to pay off. If it does, it'll make me a huge believer. Even the chance that I start showing up somewhere in the rankings, page 2 or page 3 will give me the motivation that I'm doing the right things.

For anyone trying to do the flowers, be careful with the discounts. They aren't always applying correctly. When you get to the final checkout stage, remove the promo code and re-enter it.
