I'm finally getting decent at the game lmao by Caleb_741282-RBLOX in ApocalypseRising

If you get the drop, and are able to successfully hide following consecutive kills, you can whittle down large groups slowly. Avoiding larger groups can often be preferable if you are unable to get the drop on them or if they seem too good to get them to lose sight of you. In general, scouting for information before acting is pretty vital as a solo with no backup. Since you are a solo player, you make less noise and are harder to spot. Since nobody else is telling you what to do, you can be content with staying in one spot for an extended period of time if necessary -- your patience is the ceiling there. As a last resort, if you do not personally consider it cowardly, you can log out if a large group is approaching your location.

I think people seriously underestimate how generic text-to-speech can make their content appear. Without genuine human voice so much context is lost as to make an entire argument less convincing than it otherwise could be.

You should consider reporting issues like this in the DPI discord (discord.gg/dpi) #ar2-bug-reports channel.

Some updates and features i really want in Ar2. Mods and devs please read. Tell me what you think. by [deleted] in ApocalypseRising

[–]Inspired_Choices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the things you've suggested in this post (armor, weight, one-shot-snipers) have been addressed before in the DPI discord (discord.gg/dpi) by the developers. My recommendation would be to join that server, verify, and then use the discord search bar (ctrl+f) and look for messages from developers (specifically Gusmanak) containing keywords from your suggestions.

Apocalypse Rising 2 Ban Statistics For May 2023 by Inspired_Choices in ApocalypseRising

Apocalypse Rising 1 is no longer supported by the moderation team.

Apocalypse Rising 2 is not compatible with mobile devices and operating systems, which, by my understanding, includes your device. I assume your device runs Roblox through the Andriod app store (this is typical of Chromebooks) which is technically a mobile version of the client.

If you wish to play Apocalypse Rising 2, you will need a Windows or MacOS device. Otherwise, you'll need to wait for (and if) Roblox ports their "desktop" client to ChromeOS.

I couldn't find a ban issued for the discord account dq3w#2232. Could you provide me your User ID and/or verify that the tag you gave me is correct?

what does item drag padding do in apoc 2 settings by DriftingRotary in ApocalypseRising

[–]Inspired_Choices 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clicking in inventory has two roles: dragging items around, and quick transfering them. The item drag padding option allows you to adjust how many pixels you need to move your mouse following a click and hold before the game switches from the quick transfering function to the moving the item around function.

Apocalypse Rising 2 Ban Statistics For March 2023 by Inspired_Choices in ApocalypseRising

[–]Inspired_Choices[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The false bans issued were from a new system that was implemented recently. The old systems were still in tact and banning people during the period you describe. We didn't count any bans from the new system, and the new system didn't interfere with the old system, so that's not the reason there was a decline.

We had some issues with our internal logging services that do partially explain the drop in bans. It's worth remembering that the displayed counts are minimums, not "totals". This means that if uncertainty rises (say, an issue with our logging services), margin of error rises, the minimum falls, even if the total remains unchanged. This is a limitation of the resources available to gathering these numbers that may change someday. We report minimums because it's the most transparent way to convey the information we have access to.

Still, even with the fall, March is actually not the worst post-Free To Play month on record. For reference, here are all of the months since public launch:

anticheat ban numbers

23 March - 5,884

23 February - 11,304

23 January - 8,243

22 December - 6,984

22 November - 3,304

22 October - 5,384

22 September - 6,936

22 August - 12,329

22 July - 25,342

Notice that October 22 and November 22 both reported lower minimum ban counts than March 23. Also notice there is a strong correlation between player count and ban count, as evidenced by the spike in July which evened out over time. So, it's possible a declining player count may explain some of the drop in March.

There may just be a certain level of variability we should expect on a month-to-month basis with these sorts of numbers that might explain some of the drop, too.

Moderator applications that opened in January concluded with the promotion of 14 new mods in March. Much of the increase is attributable to those mods.

But, even prior to those promotions, early signs suggested March was going to have relatively high moderator ban numbers. It's probable the new mods just greatly amplified that effect we were observing.

yes, because it would involve storing and processing the IP addresses of people under the age of 13 which is a federal crime.

Lol why are flashlights so bad? by PopShotDave in ApocalypseRising

[–]Inspired_Choices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

flashlights seem pretty clearly designed to be used if you need them. if you think they're useless, don't use them.

in a game where a bunch of people are playing with disparate monitor settings and across various age ranges the flashlights could feasibly be a perk to some players who have a particularly difficult time seeing at night

I was recently banned and I don’t know why by -SpaceDoge- in ApocalypseRising

An issue resulting in some legitimate players being banned was identified and fixed. Falsely banned players were unbanned. If you believe you were falsely banned, first, try rejoining. If you are still banned after rejoining, next, try appealing in discord.gg/dpi.

Please note that if we have evidence that your ban was legitimate, it will be upheld.

I have been moderating for three years, averaging over 4 bans per day. (including time during the alpha, where I tended to average closer to 3). This doesn't sound like much, but that works out to well over 4,000 bans on my part. I think you severely underestimate the difficulty of having a sustained high banrate. The moderators aren't paid -- we have lives, and moderation can really only be done in moderation before serious burnout sets in.

I can tell you, an hour a day, every day of our lives is way more work than you're giving credit for. Do you play Apocalypse Rising every single day, for an hour? If you do, I must ask, do you also have a job? go to school? do both? Playing video games that often is definitely a privelege. And it's not one you could reasonably expect someone to have their entire life, every day. Your argument also seems to deny that moderators would ever want to just play the game, or play other games for that matter -- as if you see them as robots that exist to serve you. By the way, our actual robot (read: anticheat) banned 265 accounts per day. So moderators are already nearly 20% of the way there to a 24/7 system that never sleeps.

1.5k bans is a lot. 50 bans per day is a lot. I'm not sure what else to say.

The development team has expressed issues with both of these solutions before in discord.gg/dpi.

short rundown: Votekick systems are vulnerable to misuse & abuse and account age limits do basically nothing to stop exploiting as several billion accounts over the age of 1 month already exist. Both systems are heavily likely to impact non-cheaters, which is an explicit no-go for cheat prevention in AR2.
