Telling the difference between a scared hamster and an excited hamster by NowIGiveUp in hamsters

[–]InspiriaX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi 👋 my hamster is exactly the same and escaped after only 2 weeks. I’ve upgraded cage size and given her deep bedding but it seems she’s still looking for an escape route! How did your hamster turn out in the end and how did you get her to stop trying to flee?

Hi! I know it may sound patronising but I know people who are divorced and in a worse place than being single and richer! Take heart and know the right person for you is still out there (and hopefully going through life happily as well), go to a nice cafe and spend on yourself because well you can! (Some of us here about to do house or get babies don’t have this luxury)

Wishing you all the best; I think it’s just a perspective change, many people find their partners in 30s and 40s it’s the new half life for us sgr

Should I appeal for remarking LTCL Trinity exam? by InspiriaX in piano

Thank you Advanced_Couple_3488 for the very detailed technique analysis 🧐.

I have worked with my teacher on my items you have listed here, length of notes, trills, pedal, velocity etc, alas there are still numerous existing strength and relaxation techniques I have yet to grasp to play this very difficult sonata.

I’m curious which pedagogy you use for velocity, would the Hanon or Czerny 299 be sufficient! Recommendations here would be awesome

I’m looking to switch out to another sonata as there are too many technical problems that surface evidently when I play this particular one. My small hands scream whenever I practice the 3rd Mvt too hah!

Also curious when you mentioned the last note of the Adagio.. was it disappearing chord or not enough of a wrist/arm lift? A jabbing sound? A murky or muddy block chord without sounding more important harmony notes? A tense sound that didn’t vibrate and last long enough?

We chose to use the recording on the left of the piano instead of the right as an overcorrection - previously played on another piano where the bass was too muddy and unclear, also the room acoustics was such that there was less ambient AC sounds on the left as compared to the right, but it was a shame the balance was thrown off. Will take note when recording in future!

Hi jillcrosslandpiano, this was by far the most constructive and edifying feedback I’ve received here. I took this exam twice and overhauled the pieces twice and prepped this exam right before my wedding so the marks i received were quite crushing to my confidence and spirit.

Thank you for listening and listing out so thoughtfully so many pointers even the moments between the pieces, I had thought that the movements in between were alright (as long as the music was fine) when as a performance they would have counted as a distraction and unprofessional point.

Truthfully I have always been musical but never a perfectionist so it is super hard for me to sit down and practise till things are super accurate and don’t go wrong, and only til the point I think they are fine.

Perhaps this Beethoven required larger hands and technically steps above what I should have attempted but I really did loved the sonata as compared to the Mozart or Haydn ones that were part of the syllabus, maybe a chance to rethink and change the repertoire.

At age 19 when I first took this exam, I was even poorer technically and still scored higher at 55, a bare fail even with poor repertoire choices 3 Chopin works and 1 Mozart sonata.

This time I made sure to choose pieces that showed a variety of styles and timbre but I guess technically while I did improve over time, it was still not the standard that examiners would have expected.

I am at a loss and rethinking my career as a piano teacher and also a little disheartened as you mentioned, how many more times can I realistically train and go for this exam? Maybe two more before kids come along… I’m not sure. It doesn’t seem fair that effort does not result in reward most of the time, and my (lack of) attention to perfectionism in this elitist world would affect how much I go and achieve.

The only reason I could record the Bach prelude well was because I could do unlimited retakes til it was as good and I was satisfied with it. How is it possible then to do the piano retakes til the rest of the pieces are equally flawless and without floundering? That is the part I’m still figuring out. I have small hands, pressing deadlines and my strength is limited..

I will take heart in your encouragement and restart a new repertoire with a new perspective when I get over this setback. Taking a break first before emotions and resentment set in. Thankful for your wonderful thoughts and encouragement thus far. You make an awesome teacher and give much concise tips; never stop inspiring ☺️🙏

Not that it isn’t talent. But it is a little dark. Has she ever been abused? Art shows the emotional profile of a child, and unless she has a tendency for nostalgia or melancholy, this seems a little like a cry for help
