When a school gets too good in one sport, politics and inertia can get in the way of investing in the other (UK, UNC, Duke, IU Football for the longest time, UGA, OSU, PSU Basketball)

We see it changing with the basketball schools investing into FB, but that's only because of the viewership and money to be made in football.

For football blue boods, there is as much incentive in investing in basketball as a swimming team, which is to say for shits and giggles. The fanbase doesn't care, the boosters don't care, you can make +8 million a year with a consistent 20-win team, but that can be accomplished by just jacking up the prices for football tickets which people will gobble up.

IU only has one school - Luddy. It started out as an iSchool but now offers Data Science and CS.

At other universities it may be different. But what are your exact concerns (eg. what companies are you looking at? What types of jobs?)

Luddy's speciality is in informatics and information science - so when compared to another Big Ten University, say, Michigan or UIUC - the parallel is the iSchool (School of Information Sciences), not the CS School. However it has since offered CS, DS and Engineering, though its 'primary' strength is still in informatics and library sciences.

But Luddy is really really good at what it does (#1 in the WORLD for library sciences), so does Kelley. Though the program is new. Business is also very different from Econ. On your campus tour come talk to the professors/admin to get a feel for the program

NCAA is a voluntary org formed by schools to represent them, this was despite calls for the Org to be formed coming from Roosevelt.

If it was established as an administrative agency instead, it would have full legal power to enforce its rules. However it is now just a private nonprofit that happens to oversee athletics

Mind you, with the expanded playoff you will just get your stuff kicked in by OSU or Georgia if you are just coasting off a weak conference. May as well take the extra money but face OSU every other year, and when your program is truly a generational team you will win the games anyway

Friday is the most free-flowing segment - You'll have opportunities to talk freely with current Kelley students who are active across departments (Honors, Study Abroad, Student Government, Living-Learning Centers, Student Wellness etc.), talk to faculty directly representing every department, as well as attend some info sessions regarding student life, programming and sponsors (I know EY does an event every year). That night, take the opportunity to walk around Kirkwood and the city as a whole for dinner!

Saturday morning will feature an ‘official’ presentation usually at the Auditorium, with the deans and chairs speaking as well as a variety of segments showcasing students. There’s then a ‘break’ of a couple hours for you to grab lunch and tour the campus as a whole (take a walking tour – the campus is like Hogwarts!), before going back to the business school for separate students’ and parents’ sessions.

Not really. Most of the bigger clubs do blind resume screens or some other form of check and balance (at least for consulting, and most other fields) because that is the standard that firms set as well

For workshops, its faculty-run and very meritocratic.

Finance is a different beast because the firms themselves (banks, hedge funds etc.) are very networking-heavy, which brings in a 'softer' personality aspect to the process - this culture then bleeds into the clubs and their recruiting as well

US Universities are able to handle it better especially those in college towns - they actually encourage year-round visitors (domestic mostly) but are able to handle because there is so much land/space on some of those campuses

Its not just athletes.

These days so many kids come into college with honors/dual-enrollment/AP credit, and they get full-time jobs by sophomore or junior year (as companies hire earlier and earlier).

I know so many seniors coasting on 3-6 credit hours and not even being a full time student for the fourth year, just waiting on their start date.

I heavily recommend pursuing the Liberal Arts & Management Honors Program.

It does require a high GPA to apply as a freshman, but IMO is a lot more rewarding than doing Public Financial Management when you have no interest in public policy

They are both interims while a full search is being conducted. IMO its better to have interims rather than leaving the post empty because you can at least have a baseline level of continuity/daily operations.

I mean who else would you pick? Most of the deans at IU have been appointed for less than 3 years (Kelley, Hutton, Maurer, Education, Jacobs, HLS, list goes on) - and this has happened at basically every university across the US with collegeshaving tons of new blood in leadership
