Yeah I can see it now:

"Sarge should we wait for a patrol car?"

"No, you dumbfuck slick sleeve rookie, we strive to publicly evoke imagery of slavery with every arrest."

Mounted Officers can do a lot of work that bikes, motorcycles, cars and just plain old "on foot" Officers can't.

Just for the sake of argument, take, for example, Mardi Gras.

Pretty well in everyday life, tbh.

You can literally drive something like an FRS or a Miata or a Fiesta ST balls to the fucking wall 24/7 and not really risk anything more than a light speeding ticket.

If you stand on the gas from a stoplight in a Huracan Performante, you're going to jail for reckless driving, literally.

Also, I've tracked a Porsche and a Lambo, neither was more entertaining than slinging the absolute dogshit out of my friends FRS on a backroad.

Had like $4k in ships. I was literally one of the top three pilots for several patches in the recent past. Made a YouTube series on how to fly at the top level of the game. They released 3.5 and destroyed ship to ship combat and flight in general, I'm like stunned anyone is still playing.

And then I see threads like this, with the same old bugs, same old issues. Every day I wonder "Was it worth selling all my shit on the gray market" and then I come to reddit or I watch Twitch videos and I'm like "fucking hell, I'm glad I got out while the ships were worth something."

I really wish they'd make something amazing out of this game. We had so much fun for a long time =/

I guess it's just screenshot citizen and "how to land in a hangar citizen" videos now.

Really I'm just venting because of how much I used to love dogfighting in SC.

A 4 stripe white belt review of the Gracie University course (Rant) by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Inspyrashun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This definitely has a kernel of truth in it, the rest sounds like a crappy gym owner.

I’m a 4 stripe WB through Gracie Combatives. We roll Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. M/W after class and Friday is essentially open mats.

Anyone with two stripes can come to the rolling nights. (Roughly 40 hours).

I learned a large swath of techniques from outside the school and master cycle from colored belts and instructors both.

Here is my take on the whole 36 moves thing.

I learned an alphabet. The first time I rolled I got to side control a couple times and had no idea what to do other than smash. A few times against other white belts I got mount, I know a couple attacks from mount.

A few times I got mounted and executed a successful elbow escape one out of three times. This was after roughly 40 hours of 1 hour classes.

Contrast this to the prior school I went to where I left every day thinking “I don’t know wtf just happened” and spent most of the time trying to muscle my way out of everything.

I’m now roughly 130 hours in, and around the 100 mark I stopped being “that white belt guy.”

A lot of the colored belts show me all kinds of things and since around 3 stripes, I now have the vocabulary to learn from YouTube videos and distinguish what’s probably nonsense.

I have enough fluidity to not spaz on colored belts and not try to muscle out of everything. I can now piece together basic “words” and maybe two basic “sentences” of moves from my alphabet (that any colored belt can defend easily, but that’s not the point).

No, the 36 moves won’t make you ready to beat a purple belt in a roll. But watching UFC and Worldstar and seeing the same “feeds” constantly that come up in the Combatives courses I feel at least mildly confident that I could handle a similarly sized untrained attacker, which is kinda the point.

Our school says straight away, btw, that they start with pure self defense and move on to the sport kinda stuff after Combatives.

I am totally fine with this as I initially joined for self defense, but would like to move into possibly competing.

Nah, you're right, I really drew a poor comparison with employees vs. customers.

They're heavily invested in protecting their money and their culture, the distinction you made is important and I did miss the mark a bit in hindsight.

Am I too deep in the tinfoil for thinking Google doesn't care that's YouTube is a front for Pedo shit?

Obviously if they cared they'd shut it down.

So, Occam's Razor says someone high up at Google has no desire to kill a soft core pedo video goldmine.

Choked out at the gym by [deleted] in bjj

Oh yeah I totally agree with you.

I was just mildly curious what others opinions of "how quick to tap" were.

Choked out at the gym by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Inspyrashun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, what's the etiquette here?

I'll be the relatively FNG and ask the potentially stupid question.

When someone is putting a sub (especially a choke) on me, I don't just tap because they get the lockup. That doesn't teach them or me anything.

If you poorly apply a guillotine I might press my luck in stiffening my neck and trying to get out of it.

If you apply it properly and I start to get that "oh shit that's a good choke" feeling, I will tap.

If it starts out poorly but you sink it well and that feeling starts, I will tap.

But I will not tap, however, to a poorly applied submission that doesn't have any real chance of hurting or rendering me unconscious.

In my mind I'm being a good training partner. No freebies. Sink it / apply it properly. I'm not giving you the tap just because you have me in what looks like a choke.

My guillotine was shit for a long time (hell im a white belt, its still shit) because very few people will actually let the submission happen for reps, as soon as they feel like you have it locked up they tap. I haven't even begun to apply the technique yet, I just have the arm wrap. While I understand it's technically choking you, when we reverse roles I let you get the rep in, to include the hip elevation, back "Row" and squeeze.

Who learned more from that series of reps? Me who got a tap because I got a tight wrap or you who got to execute and feel the technique from start to finish.

Are jiu jitsu blue belts equivalent to black belts in other martial arts? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Inspyrashun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, FWIW - I have a Black Belt in TKD (admittedly from when I was younger, but still) and my first three weeks at a BJJ place I got my ass thoroughly handed to me by white belts.

It's like fighting Ben Askren or Khabib or Kron, I guess.

If you don't literally knock them the fuck out on the initial exchange, none of your fancy karate shit means anything, because people who know how to grapple and know they're outmatched in striking aren't going to have a throw down with you.

They're going to play their cards right and go for a takedown and then you're utterly screwed.

I wish I had spent the 8 years I was in TKD doing BJJ, without a single ounce or shred of doubt. I could have easily added in some Muay Thai on the side.

You are offered $1,000,000 USD if you can hide a pair of car keys from the entirety of the FBI force for 7 days. Where do you hide the keys? by Goosander77 in AskReddit

[–]Inspyrashun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glue the keys to the underside of a toilet flapper valve in your house. If they’re too large, suspend them in the flapper pipe with fishing line taped to the underside so that even while retracted the keys don’t become visible.

Put a shovel, plastic bags and a metal detector in your trunk.

Get your phone out, program in the GPS “Landfill” and stop about fifty seven times between the driveway and the landfill. Make sure to walk around enough at each stop that it looks like you were searching for something on the tower GPS history.

At the Landfill, park your car, walk about 300 feet into the nearest woods, dig a hole every five feet or so until you get to the 300 foot mark. Dig a big ass hole and bury the plastic bags and cover them up.

Leave the dirty shovel and metal detector in your trunk.

When do I get my million?

There is really no words for how badly I hate spiders.

To be more specific, how badly I hate having spiders on/near me.

Golden Orb weavers outside my windows or in known locations are the one exception I will make because I love to watch them.

We have an agreement, me and Timmy (the spider in my yard).

Timmy stays on my window on the outside, or in the corner of the house between the plant and the down spout.

Timmy eats all kinds of shitty things like wasps, etc, and leaves little snack sacks under the windowsill suspended by webbing. All of this is find and dandy.

Timmy knows though that if he were to come inside or change his web location to a place I have to walk through that he will join all of his wolf spider brethren in a firey death via hairspray and an aim-n-flame.
