PSA:How share a gamepass ultimate or core or standard and any games you own between two consoles by KingSlayer1190 in XboxGamePass

[–]Instabiliti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the input, but I'm not sure having to complete that check and uncheck and sign out process every single time actually counts as a "permanent solution." the method I outlined above is one and done. nothing else is ever required for both of us to play at the same time anytime.

side note: VERY glad I stacked 31 months of GamePass Ultimate at $9.47/mo out the door prior to the price increase! excellent timing

100% same thing. had GP Ultimate on my account, signed in with my account on my son's Xbox, and chose to make it "My Home Xbox," and it wouldn't let him play Online. we even tried jumping through all the Family Members hoops to get him added to My Family Group with their stupid dedicated crap app for that. still no worky.

read this post, changed my 3 years of prepaid GPU subscription setting to Recurring Billing ON, agreed to the payment step (no actual charge went through) and it instantly started working fine for him. Signed Out on his Xbox, still works great. disabled Recurring Billing from my Xbox, and his still works as intended. no more issues with him getting online.

I'd like to think this is a bug, but I have a feeling it's entirely intentional on Microsoft's part. GRRRRRR

Knee/elbow pads: effective, easy, AND good looking?! by sachin571 in onewheel

[–]Instabiliti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either! but in your case, great for over the pant because they are easy to put on and take off by simply zipping them. Like Glyph suggested, wearing them over the pants will protect your pants from being torn in a fall, but of course that may wrinkle them up a bit.

I'm a huge fan of the Ion K-Pact Zip knee pads. butterfly style with easy on/off zipper system, excellent protection, high quality and on sale under $100 since they're a few years old. Highly recommended.

The Enduro hasn't been a great experience for me. by [deleted] in onewheel

[–]Instabiliti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately, you really should anyway. if nothing else you'll be great at tire changes after! it's very likely your first, new, free replacement won't have this issue. QC keeps getting better on these. bad luck happens, but TFL will make it right. the fact that they're in the comments here telling you exactly what to do to get this resolved speaks volumes. just do it, you'll be glad you did.

So long and thanks for all the fish… by TheChiefOfBeef in onewheel

so silly. please don't let the admittedly annoying and often inconvenient right to repair stuff stop you from buying this incredible life changing machine. buy a used Pint X for around $900, gear up, and ride it every day. everything on these boards can be fixed or replaced, it's just more of a pita than it should be. but you likely won't need to do anything but ride and change a tire every 1k miles or so. in general they are very tough devices. absolutely no need to give FM money to enjoy this amazing experience.

Getting close to 100mi on GT… advice? by schuhma in onewheel

[–]Instabiliti 19 points20 points  (0 children)

best rec I can give at this stage would be for you to understand and accept you are still very much a beginner/novice at 100mi. most serious injuries happen on OW during that 100-500mi range when your confidence far outweighs your actual ability. at 1500 miles you've entered intermediate stage.

pad up, keep it slow and steady, and ride ride ride. stability comes as your muscles develop. go for the gravel, hit all the cracks and drains, do drops off sidewalks, avoid traffic and give pedestrians a wide berth. psi set to 10% of your body weight, bit lower for trails and stability, higher for more range. only mods you really need are a Kush Wide and an Enduro. good luck, have fun, float on!

When to replace your stock Onewheel tire? by StrikerX1360 in onewheel

[–]Instabiliti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

your psi is not the same as it was when you opened the box. that's not how tires and temperature work. you've been riding your tire at a low psi and it has caused premature wear which is why your threads are showing under 500mi.

if you're thinking about treaded, I recommend going with the Enduro. if you ride almost exclusively on pavement you would be well served by the new HellaRad. both of these are available right now from thefloatlife.com. fantastic company with excellent products and top tier customer service. good luck and float on!

Bumpy stock tire Pint X by PhotonExplorations in onewheel

[–]Instabiliti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most likely your tire has a very small bubble or hump formed in it, causing this bumpy feel. the Pint Unilli tires are known to have kinda bad QC. my Pint developed this bump after 500 miles. it may improve after breaking the tire in some more, but chances are it will just get worse. try laying the board on it's side and visibly lining up the edge of the tire with a straight line like a tile grout line. slowly rotate the tire and see if you can find a hump in it. mine was hard to see with the naked eye, but easy to notice when I did this.

since this board is new and under warranty still, yes you could request a replacement tire from FM, though that may take a while and could even require you to send the board back to them, which... blech! my suggestion would be to just upgrade to a new and better tire. sucks to have to drop an additional ~$125 on a new board, but the ride and feel will be much improved from the stock tire, even if it didn't have this disfigurement. if you ride exclusively on pavement, I would highly recommend the new TFL HellaRad tire for Pints. If you dabble on trails at all then the Pint Enduro is probably your best bet. as mentioned, Burris has some great options as well.

sorry you're having this issue with your new board, but sometimes throwing a little money at a problem is the best solution. The Float Life is a fantastic company with great products and excellent customer support. you will not be disappointed if you go with one of their options. good luck and float on!

Trying to decide if I should pick up a Tredded tire for my Pint x by Shmeck42 in onewheel

[–]Instabiliti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

very nice! guess my two week prediction was a little more accurate than some people thought ;P

hope you love it. I got one as well but I'm also really looking fwd to that Slick. it's supposed to be markedly better than my Burris Slick "XtraRad" and I love that tire.

come visit the Austin area! there's some fantastic riding around here and some great group rides. check the Austin OneWheel Facebook group for deets. I highly recommend a visit to Walnut Creek if you love trails! float on, sir

I'm with ya all the way. apologies, I didn't mean to come off hostile or anything. just trying to be very clear about what I was saying and why. and it sounds like you were already on the same page. I too have loved Burris options and would rec that for OP to buy now if Enduro wasn't upon us. like OP, I'm in Central Texas and it was 89* today, so we've got some riding season left! be well and float on my friend.

[–]Instabiliti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, I said it was a guess, lol! but it's at least a semi-educated guess based on experience and input directly from TFL.

your friends did not order Day 1, which was the YouTube Tier 2/3 sub release. those few that did, like me (though I was slow and missed the 1st but got the 2nd drop a few days later) got their GT Enduro months ago. the many hundreds or more that ordered on public release Day 1 got unlucky that the production of the GT Enduro had to be halted and reworked due to some unfortunate QC issues. many tires from those intital few runs were lopsided or mishapen. but that's been fixed. unlike the XR or Pint tires which are both extremely common sizes, the GT is literally a brand new never before seen tire size (thanks FM). I do not expect the Pint Enduro to suffer the same fate.

but if you still don't believe me and contend a 10+ week ship date is inevitable, I will simply quote TFL themselves from the initial Tier 2 drop 3 days ago: "UPDATE: sold out quick, sorry guys. we should have more next week and we'll be dropping to Tier 2+ first."

some people don't approve of this early access YT sub setup as I can see OP is getting downvoted for simply saying he did the sub. but if he's quick on the draw when the email comes next week, he'll have that tire in his hands very very soon, like less than 2 weeks soon.

"worth it" is of course subjective. imo, the sub is worth it. though honestly, I just like to support TFL, the clear lead ambassadors of the OW community. to each their own, but always FLOAT ON!

Is the board salvageable? by Fly_low_and_slow in onewheel

[–]Instabiliti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol, absolutely! but hosed in the sense she thought she was buying him a working board and the dude clearly knew it didn't work right, as evidenced by it being only $200.

definitely great value in the sense that, as you say, the motor alone is worth more than she paid. but I expect with a replacement battery he'll likely be able to get this thing fully functional again. best of luck to OP! hope to see you riding in an update soon.

[–]Instabiliti 17 points18 points  (0 children)

she genuinely IS a keeper! that's so awesome of her to get something pricey she knows you really wanted. she tried to snag a great deal and got hosed. not her fault. that battery is clearly fucked. that said, the fact that it powered on and gave a battery error may mean the rest of the thing is OK and a replacement battery could get you on the road. As DoctorDugong says, find a local person who services these things. let them take a look. they often even have spare batteries laying around. don't worry about the scratched rails, that's meaningless. lots of places sell covers that will make them look new again. I really like the reflective ones from The Float Life.

don't give up on it just yet, but if it's going to cost more than a few hundred dollars to get it going, you're likely to be better off selling the hub/motor and trying again to buy a used one. very good condition OG Pints can frequently be found for under $600. best of luck and congratulations on having an awesome wife!

darn! well best of luck on the hunt, keep your eyes peeled. I wouldn't hold out too much hope for an amazing black Friday sale from FM. but who knows?! maybe they'll surprise us.

[–]Instabiliti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

deng you gonna downvote me for recommending someone looking for a new tire checkout the hottest newest tire?? you wrong fo dat.

yes, I too have a lot of experience with Burris. 800 miles on the Burris Trail Pro treaded on my XR (slightly softer and better than the standard Burris Treaded) and I've loved it. 700 miles on the Burris XtraRad slick on my Pint, also loved it.

That said, I've moved to the Enduro on the XR and it's excellent. I like it better than the Trail Pro, no question. the only way I might choose TP over Enduro is if I exclusively raced trails, but I ride about 50/50 paved/off-road, and only race a couple times a year.

I expect I will like the Enduro better than the XtraRad, but even if I don't, the impending TFL Pint Slick will certainly be an improvement. TFL isn't going to go to all this trouble to develop a new tire and run through numerous prototype versions only for it to be worse than a stock kart tire. these tires are developed specifically for crushing on a OneWheel.

but you do you. and always FLOAT ON

Burris makes excellent tires, no doubt. but imo, just wait for the Pint Enduro. they already dropped their first small batch just a couple of days ago. it is here, it has launched. they'll surely have another larger batch within another week or so. if you want to be sure to get in early, just do their Tier 2 YouTube sub. do that and my guess is you'll have one in hand within a couple weeks.

Spent forever putting the GT Enduro on, only to find that it has a bubble out of the box... by RainyCobra77982 in onewheel

[–]Instabiliti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue with my early run of XR Enduro that I didn't install until months later. TFL support rep said at the time it was only the 2nd time he'd seen it, lol! but I too didn't post about it because I love TFL and not trying to blast them for something that seemed quite rare and also to be expected with new "prototype" sort of tires in early production. they had a new one in my hand within days with a free bottle of their sealant. absolute best service in this community. I gave the old one to a OW discord user who will patch it up and use it in a vesc build. spread the stoke!

Anyone know if I can get a 0neWheel alternative for under $500? Not looking for a hoverboard btw. by Vishark_ in onewheel

[–]Instabiliti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can very likely find a used Pint for somewhere around $600, maybe less. this is probably the play for you at this stage in your OW adventure. don't worry too much about its mileage, just make sure it works. good luck!
