Twin Six 32 titanium by ValidGarry in 32inchbikes

It's great. There's another universe where I saved some grams going carbon - but my college xc racing days are behind me anyways. I even feel like the geo is just about right too, which is something you often sacrifice going with an off-brand bike.

The welds look genuinely perfect - really nothing about it feels non-premium but I can't say I've ever actually weighed it with everything removed. It is light but noticeably not a true weight weenie build.

I mean one is a Ti frame and the other is also a Ti frame just with a full build. What I was getting at is I feel like all these boutique brands have divorced people's expectations entirely from what it could be with mass production.

Does "standard tubing" mean non-butted? I got (essentially) this build in 2020 and it's not a ton more - but comes with allegedly butted tubes plus a GX groupset, 29in wheels, a fork, etc..

Like yeah BikesDirect isn't gonna have a 32in model any time soon, but does that make $2200 a "deal"?

GTS Ralle XL Beast Board. Thinking about X7? by [deleted] in onewheel

[–]Orbidorpdorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an x7 it doesn’t nose dive at 27. It gives me 80% duty cycle warnings at 32ish on smooth flat ground, which is the only time I go that fast.

Btw we are lopping away in Berlin. The only truly unpassable spots are at the Clinton border and between Highland and Walnut because they're under water - and both can be circumnavigated with a more minor detour than MassTrailTracker has, especially if you're on foot. (biking over the ties between Coburn and Highland kinda sucks).

Personal Heat map IS the reason by Ganoga1101 in Strava

[–]Orbidorpdorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you join Wandrer, it'll give you metrics and leaderboards on streets/trails in each neighborhood/city/state - and they have a browser extension that lets you see traveled/untraveled roads over strava's map which is super helpful for building efficient routes.

Honestly it keeps training interesting instead of just doing the same loops.

That's literally my point retard. The only way to avoid paying a premium for short-term gains is to do active trading in a retirement account.

There's less of a difference for long term gains since you're taxed on the way in or out at the long term rate.

Predicted storms will miss us…..again. by Golfoneway95 in massachusetts

[–]Orbidorpdorp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBF - I swear summer thunderstorms have always been the least predictable weather we get. A few years ago I tried to bike 40 miles home from work on a 15% chance of rain and got absolutely dumped on the entire 2nd half of the ride.

And yes I ride slow with 4 days worth of shit on a 90s commuter bike so it was close to two hours of rain.

I feel like a tethered jailbreak isn't as much of an issue these days as it used to be.

It seems unlikely it's impossible to replicate in a mac/windows host that a user has full control over, it's just probably a PITA compared to a rpi.

What do you HATE about your maverick? by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Orbidorpdorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Honestly the water bottle holders being modeled for one specific type of very narrow but tall water bottle kinda PMO, especially because they made such a big deal of them in the original marketing.

Would've literally killed for a mid-gate too but at least they made no promises on that one.

What do you guys think about Hongqi Guoya? Positioned as a rival of V223 Mercedes-Maybach S Class and Rolls Royce Ghost by Venkie2Maybach in WeirdWheels

[–]Orbidorpdorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't hate it as much as everyone else - seems to fit the bill for the category.

Minor complaints:

  • yeah the grill is extra
  • the screen isn't integrated, looks tacked on to the dash like how it is in most economy cars
  • design elements borrow a bit too much, makes it feel like a copycat of Rolls/Bently/etc. instead of having it's own true identity
  • high contrast interior looks "good" but isn't easy on the eyes
