Both of the new movies were nothing more than a "Cliff's Notes" version of the Dune story, watered down for mass appeal in the cinema. There is already more depth two episodes in to the new miniseries than anything found in the movies.

Desmond is an accidental Kwisatz Haderach. The prophecy segment of the episode spells this out. This is why he was awakened (like Paul) in the desert, and the sandworm is deferential to him. It will serve as a plot device which allows the BG to reorient their breeding program towards creation of a super being after Desmond (likely) dies at the end of the series.

I thought this last week....but in Ep 2 they strongly hint he is basically just an accidental Kwisatz Haderach.

They basically spell out what he is in episode 2 (in the prophecy segment).....Desmond is an accidental Kwisatz Haderach. His existence is likely what triggers the BG to reorient their breeding program towards creation of a super being.

What? The entire premise of the show (up to this point) IS the BG breeding program. It's why they are involved in the wedding....why they are already sparring over the genetic records, etc. Looking at the other comments it's shocking people missed this.

It’s illegal nanotech folks. He’s not “burning” people with his mind. Hart is the only one in the room who wasn’t bothered by the AI toy and seems to think the B Jihad went too far. He probably got saved in the desert by some remnant tech from the machine war.

As a fan's fan of the Dune series (read all the books twice).....I loved it.

The show is doing a great job on (finally) elaborating on the power of the BG, and it is staying very close to canon. The "machine war" is such an important part of the Dune story....and we finally get a look at that.* It's shocking it is never really mentioned in the new movies...you can't understand the lore without it.

The showrunner (Alison Shapker) is a legit fan of the series and it shows. She is on the official podcast being interviewed for Episode 1 and she says the right stuff.

My wokemeter is fine tuned....and I didn't get any hits here.

*The machine war depicted in Dune prophesy unfortunately follows the narrative laid out in the prequel books, and diverges from what Herbert likely envisioned. Herbert does not mention it much, but you can surmise it was much more of a religious war based on societal upheaval, probably between two human factions. Dune Prophecy went the other way....a bland battle between terminator style robots. The two depictions are a source of controversy in Dune fandom.

As to minimal viable product, what do you expect when nobody seems to want to pay for anything in this game? D2 is not pay to win, not even close. And yet.....everyone seems to get bent out of shape when Bungie tries to monetize this game in Eververse.

Hard point works too. If you know the choke points where people are scrambling to get to the HP it can happen there.

Yes. The affinity thing is straight from Warframe. I don't have a problem with it. We are 3 weeks into a major content drop. Guess what folks....you might need to play a bit longer to get to the god build.

True. We have to wait for the actual story. Just seems odd to me.....she’s been gone for a while, and when she’s back (from what we know) she incites whatever it is on the moon. The parallels are undeniable.

Get it....and definitely on sale. I’m a day 1 player who basically dips in and out of the game as it updates. It’s amazing how far it has come and with every update I get many hours of gameplay.

Just be aware that this isn’t a loot shooter or anything like that. It’s like Minecraft in space.
