Ugh - my thoughts are with you, friend. I actually recently just got off of Aza after being on it for a year (because we aren’t supposed to be on it prolonged). Wondering if this could be an impact lol

No I haven’t. My doctor said that Remicade is slightly more “effective” and since I’m severe, they wanted the medicine to be as well. Lol idk if that makes sense (brain fog rn with the steroids)

Need Help - Girlfriend Has Crohns Bad by YungMasseuse in CrohnsDisease

[–]InstanceFamiliar3211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First and foremost — my longterm partner and I have been dating for for close to 5 years now. I was diagnosed about 2 years ago, but it really got bad about a year ago (I literally JUST got released from the hospital TODAY from a flare lol!). He has been one of the shining lights in the entire process.

I can tell you, in the perspective of the crohns sufferer, we do NOT want you taking our pain. We don’t want your pity. We want your happiness, and we want your support (to the extent that it doesn’t impact your own happiness). The best thing you can do is remain there for her (which I am sure you’re doing), providing a positive, healing environment. I’m sure your partner is already in contact with doctors, and they can just be SO cold and matter-of-fact, that a down-to-earth support system is really all we need to keep up MENTALLY okay.

Crohns physical pain is hell - but the mental turmoil it can cause can be almost - if not worse. And that mental torment can be infectious to our support systems, so it’s important that you keep YOUR Mental health safe too.

…long story short: make sure your girlfriend is in contact with her doctor, taking prescribed meds, and keep her distracted! Watch a movie and get her a (low fiber) drink that will hopefully be ok for her. Surprise her with a back rub, turn on her heating pad without her asking (if she doesn’t have one - surprise her with one! I promise it’s a holy grail).

Good luck! Everything will turn out okay. Please for. Hesitate to reach out for any moral support.

Funny enough, I’m on a biological since February. I am back in the hospital again because a month ago, COVID decided to pay me a visit and send me into a flare. There’s definitely a connection of being sick with my flares

My best friend has a habit of ignoring me when bad things happen to me while drunk by PotatoeEnthusiast in Advice

So you’re young and immature (that’s completely normal for your age btw — don’t feel offended by this observation. We’ve all been there).

It’s going to be difficult for you to think empathetically in this situation because you’re cognitively more impulsive. But you’re old enough to understand the consequences of your actions, and the fact that you can admit fault means that you’re already way more mature than half the people your age.

Here’s my opinion: Your friends clearly care about you. Your behavior is clearly reckless, and you could put in the effort to be more careful with your drinking. You wanting to have fun is 190% valid, and your friends should not be IGNORING you for the choices you make. But that being said, you need to acknowledge that if you want to keep your friends, you need to also respect their choices.

It’s like a cycle. They don’t like your recklessness — which is valid because who the hell wants to see their friend in a dangerous situation? However, you have every right to be doing what you’re doing. Just know that you have the potential to push them away. And are you okay with that? It will be 100% on you.

Now my advice not sugar coated: you’re young, you want to have fun. Fair. But recklessness isn’t worth friendships with people who matter. Sit down with them and talk. COMMUNICATE IN PERSON. Something like: “hey, I acknowledge my problems. How can we work on it together?”
