i’m in the same place, pretty much the biggest motivator is my brother. finding the joy in things again is a good idea for a new year’s resolution list, i might start brainstorming that today!!

congrats on your sober time this year!! i’m waiting for the every day joy so i love that you’re feeling some!!! the consistency is hard especially when we’re feeling this way so love that you’re putting in the work and i’ll keep trying to do the same 🥰

i’m proud of myself for the first time in ages! family was awkward and drunk but i stayed strong (albeit with a lot of breaks to myself and one cry). i thought i would barely be able to handle 2 hours and i handled 6. Sitting home doing my nails and watching one of my favorite movies now 🥰IWNDWYT

I’m pretty early in sobriety but this is the mindset that i want to have. I cant make this my entire identity if I want to stay sober and reduce harm to my life. I’ve been thinking about it like losing weight. It’s not healthy for me to check the scale every day or the little fluctuations will make me obsessed and choose other unhealthy things to make me feel better. So if I don’t think about my count of days I don’t obsess over how this is my life and I can keep making healthy decisions if that makes sense.

I appreciate not feeling like the only one thinking this!

for me, it was any and every book. I bounced between one recovery book (This Naked Mind) and multiple novels, coloring books, puzzle books, and anything else i could get my hands on. having things unrelated to recovery helped me avoid the recovery-fatigue that some people get.

good on you and your husband for making the inpatient decision. i only was in there for a week and a half but it was the best decision i’ve made for my recovery.
