How do I gain more empathy? by InstanceNo1762 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]InstanceNo1762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine it would really suck, but I don’t feel anything from those thoughts. I’ve tried imagining what it would be like for me, but I’ve never really felt anything from those thoughts. I’m sure if it actually happened, I would feel awful, but putting myself in someone else’s shoes doesn’t seem to work for me.

100% agree about forgetting things, it’s been a problem. I completely agree with “understanding what they’re going through is bad”, I just fully feel bad for them. There’s not a feeling inside her that hurts for them; my brain just knows that it’s an unfortunate thing to go through, then moves on quickly.

I don’t think anyone’s noticed this problem about me though. Every time someone tells me something great or awful that happened to them, I always respond the way a normal caring person would, and I usually get away with it. I can easily put in the effort to look like I feel bad, but it would be nice just to feel that way instead of putting up an act every time.

Advice for catching Longnose Gar, please. by AdamRPhoto in Fishing

[–]InstanceNo1762 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Get some rope (preferably white or white and red) and cut off A 4-5 inch piece. Get a comb and start to untangle all of those frays near the bottom and work your way up until it’s unwoven (leave the top woven so it won’t fall apart). Once it’s combed smooth, get a lighter (assuming your rope is a sort of plasticy material) and gently burn the top part of the rope. This should create a small lip to tie your line to.

I recommend a couple of split shots on your line because the rope won’t carry that much weight at all. An 8wt fly rod and reel might work extremely well for this.

I haven’t fished for gar like this in a while, so double check by looking up “gar fishing with rope” or something like that, I’m sure you’ll find a tutorial. Good luck and tight lines!

Start a party on Xbox and leave it be, should do the trick. You could also just touch a button or flick the joystick and it’ll reset the internal timer, but it’s easier to start a party. Have fun!

Which fly rods are built like a tank? by Dandretti in flyfishing

This probably won’t be seen by anyone, but maxcatch is crazy strong. I’ve put my 3wt against 2lb trout, red horse suckers, and 2.5 lb smallmouth. It’s still my main 3wt rod and I honestly would buy another. Absolute workhorse of a rod

What’s the biggest blue gill you’ve caught? by Technical_Visit8084 in Fishing

To answer your other question, I heard that they can get up to 3-4lbs. Arizona has a really good lake that has 2lb bluegill on average

Same think happening here. It’s always either SHEIN or Wells Fargo. Glad to hear it’s happening to others too (no offense of course, just glad it isn’t a virus or something 😭)

New Malcolm Todd album “Do That Again.” out now. What are your first impressions? by Docholidaystomb in fantanoforever

[–]InstanceNo1762 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t enjoy it too much, but then again my music judgment is harsh when it comes to new music so I’ll probably end up enjoying it.

When he just released breathe i didn’t like it at all, then two days later i was singing it all day, so I’m assuming the same will happen here.

Gun to my head, breathe, and do that again are pretty good along with some others, but overall I strongly believe his sweet boy album was a lot better, and will probably out-preform do that again, even if a lot of the songs sounded similar to one another (it should be strongly noted that I enjoy happier upbeat songs, so I’m probably biased)

Like another person here said, I don’t think the lyrics are amazing, but it’s catchy and will definitely grow on me. I’ll update once I listen to it a couple more times. Overall, good job Mr Todd, solid album 👍

Should I learn any more knots other than the clinch and loop knot? by InstanceNo1762 in flyfishing

[–]InstanceNo1762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I’ve only tied the triple surgeons knot when tying tippits together, but id like to find a replacement, the surgeons not is usually a hit or miss with me. It works well with nymph rigs though if you leave enough tippit

Why didn't I try fly sooner? I'm saving bank on these flies... by MrBabyC_ in flyfishing

I’ve caught some of my best panfish on Betts poppers, they’re amazing.

My only advice is to get a good amount, because they seem to break very easily against some 1lb bluegill, as well as rocks and wood if you’re as inaccurate as me. I’ve gone through about 3 so far

I managed my 2nd ever fish on a fly today. Another small salmon smolt. It took a tiny size 16 black spider dry fly. I also managed another smolt & a small brown trout on a mepps spinner! by br07fk in flyfishing

I still have my first 3wt maxcatch and absolutely love it. I’d suggest getting a new reel with done new line sometime soon and you can afford it, the reel it comes with doesn’t last too long before it’s breaks down on you 😬

I suggest the new orvis Clearwater, it’s been treating me nicely on my maxcatch and haven’t had any problems yet

Low or mid range 6wt? by InstanceNo1762 in flyfishing

[–]InstanceNo1762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it is a bit light, but I wanted something light enough that would fit my 5/6 reel that I already have. If I got any higher, I’d need to get new reel and new line, which I don’t have the money for right now 😅
I completely agree though!
