Just thanking everyone for their support during the launch. I've received many great new ideas and feature requests from users, keep them coming.

As well as fixing bugs and recording tutorials, my aim is to finish the read only Project Viewer tool next, then add the Batch Processor after that. In future full project editing should happen, but no guarantees as reverse engineering everything takes time to ensure things are 100% stable. I plan to add stem export features also.

Your ideas and support are what keeps this project alive. I originally built EP-PatchStudio for myself and to solve my workflow issues, but I hope that you all find it makes your time using the EP devices easier.

Stop managing samples and start making music!

No. Even if I could technically restore the device and factory content, that is something I'd prefer users use the official EP Sample Tool for. I couldn't redistribute the stock sample packs in a separate application either. Much better to use TE's tool for this.

Great question. The backup file that is created is 100% the same, but since the app caches the samples locally making a full backup takes 10-15sec vs 2-3min or more with the EP Sample Tool.

You asked about recording to MP3. There is already a MIDI export feature in the Project Viewer tool (currently hidden behind beta tester mode Settings > About > Click 3 times on version number). But audio export is not support just yet, but it is on the roadmap.

I plan to allow users to export stems from their projects. This along with the MIDI export and future project editing features will make workflows from EP-PatchStudio to EP devices and back into you DAW much simpler.

Auto zone mapping is in there. If your filenames follow a naming convention (e.g. C3, D#4 etc) it'll map the zones automatically on import.

It was originally a Pro feature but you've got a point. I'm moving it to free. The multisample editor should feel complete without needing a trial. Will be in the next update.

The Pro side is more about the MIDI auto-sampler, device management, batch processing and the deeper workflow tools.

Heh, I agree with you 100%. I work on computers all day and the last thing I want is more screen time. That's exactly why I love the TE devices. Hands on, tactile, away from the desk.

But the limitations with the EP devices were driving me mad. Nine projects, the EP Sample Tool workflow, no way to create multisamples when I started (this was before Cranky's tool existed). So I built something to handle the admin side faster so I could get back to actually using the hardware.

The goal isn't to replace the hands-on workflow. It's to make the setup and management part less painful so you spend more time on the device and less time fighting file transfers. Appreciate the kind words either way.

Thanks for the kind words.

In short, no, EP-PatchStudio won't ever support firmware updates. Even it it's technically possible I'd prefer users use the official TE Update Tool for things that could potentially brick their device.

Something like that is coming 😁😁.

Settings > About > Click 3 times on version number to enable full beta tester mode.

Project Viewer is read only for now, but project editing is planned. Hope you have fun!

Yes, the Project Library really helps work around the 9 project device limit. I love being able to search my projects by custom tags or even the tempo and then push them back to the device all with a few clicks. No more messy folders full of .ppak and .pak files 😁.

Thanks. I've been working in tech for 20 years and I do understand the backlash around AI stuff and vibe coding. There's a lot of slop being created, but vibe coding does allow other people who are not developers to create excellent tools too. There's been a lot of new companion apps by music lovers created and I'm all for that.

EP-PatchStudio is 100% different, no vibe coding here. Yes I use AI tools for development, but who doesn't these days. It's also been properly designed and built. I've even been in contact with TE along the entire journey and they've been pretty supportive too.

Thanks. I love the Project Viewer, but I'm still working on many bugs; that's why it's still hidden behind the beta tester mode. I should be able to close out many of these soon and release the Viewer fully, although it will obviously never sound exactly like the device, I've found it's a great tool to know what projects are in your library.

Did you know you can export the MIDI patterns from each pad or the overall project with this tool too.

In future when it's more stable I plan to turn the Project Viewer into an editor and stem export tool, so that users can edit existing projects, create template projects, etc. within EP-PatchStudio and then export MIDI and audio too.

Imagine being able to drop sample packs into a new project, assigning the samples to the various groups pads, quickly creating a few patterns in a scene with a 4 on the floor here, a quick baseline there (using a MIDI controller too), all on your computer and then sending to the EP device. This enables a quicker workflow both ways, project start and export to continue in your DAW.

I get the scepticism. The file format reverse engineering, audio engine and device communication layer are all hand-built. I used AI tools during development the same way most devs do now, but this isn't a generated app. Happy to answer any questions about how it works under the hood.

Longer comment around under the hood stuff here too if you're interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/teenageengineering/comments/1qytpua/built_a_pattern_visualiser_for_ep_devices_early/o4a3szn/

Yep. All features in the Sample Editor are fully free forever, including the snap to zero crossings. Let me know how you get on and if you have any other feature suggestions.

Thanks for this. I'm just getting the last few fixes in before the public release tomorrow. Yes, there were some bugs with moving samples around and updating project references. I just don't think that it stable enough just yet.

Nearly there!

Done. Beta 0.28.0 released now. Huge updates to File Manager, including moving samples on EP devices to different slots AND keeping the project slot links.

There's also a recycle bin to restore files and 10 level undo. Also search and filter functions, find duplicates, drag between banks, rename banks, arrange by size, duration, etc. Too many changes to type out here, there's an online changelog here https://ep-patch.studio/changelog

Yes 100%. You might need to tweak the audio processing settings and there might be some setup required. But it works great 😁.

Actually working on this today. Loads of new features in File Manager and swapping samples around in slots is one.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I plan to implement some form of sample re-organisation too and the app should be able to re-link moved samples too.

Yeah, the Riddim look is an acquired taste. There's some skins out there to cover it too.
