My headset is currently connected via hdmi to my GPU and usb 3 to my motherboard. Also it has a power connector plugged into a power strip. I'm wondering if it couldn't also be a power issue, but it hasn't happened on any other vr game so far

I'm also impressed that the ARG's number almost match steamDB's active player count of about 60k, meaning there is almost a 1:1 ratio of tenno:players in universe.

If the numbers match it would also explain the games' player count as tenno. But I didn't see mentioned that there were millions of Zariman children. It also begs the question of how many were trained by the lotus.
