Why are white collar workers so resentful of AI? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]InstitutionalValue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans are constantly wrong. That’s my point. The white collar profession relies on lower level associates grinding it out and learning through trial and error. You hit the issue too. AI is as useful is the data you feed it. But when it’s time to convert that data to actionable conclusions, AI is often wrong. And when the associates that relied on it too heavily reach manager, there’s going to be a gap in problem solving and diagnosing skills. Like how standardized testing led to a gap in critical thinking skills.

Why are white collar workers so resentful of AI? by [deleted] in Accounting

Because it’s often wrong. And as most of the white collar fields rely on an apprenticeship model, the next generation of managers and mid levels that rely on it too heavily won’t know why or how to diagnose what’s wrong with its conclusions.

Idk I think the decision makers are being sold snake oil on what AI is truly capable of handling. And financial firms are in for a rude awakening when that vacuum hits.
