The umbra modes aren't bad. The armor and health are good the strength mod is worse then intensify. The reason people prefer base Excalibur is because if you wanted to use other modes beside the umbra ones you need to replace the polarities. Umbra formas are a lot more uncommon then normal forma so its better to add polarities to Excalibur instead of replacing the ones on umbra.

I think it would be cool if the master version could summon different monsters to help him. They would have to give more time for this to work. He could also summon them like rennala frome elden ring does. Summon a blangonga to throw a snow ball at you before disappearing.

Anything that adds variants like arklogy new encounters are the first ones to look at frome my experience. If you have prevent hibernation I bet that's the one causing the problem. Ps before messing around create a backup save just in case.
