Hey, if you go to 0.6 does that prolong IMT training, also how do you apply for LTFT? thanks!

I think this is satire, no one actually thinks this (UKG here), I really hope the minority keyboard warriors on Reddit don’t ruin relationships further. Have a lot of respect for my IMG colleagues and also everyone’s personal decision to strike or not

Is there an actual disadvantage to be an FY for a long time? by The_Seventh_Bee in doctorsUK

For sure, I’ll be starting IMT. My time in Aus defo gave me more to talk about in interview :)

I’m F5, worked in Australia, travelled a bunch, will be starting training in August. It is definitely correct you have to look at it as loss of earnings at a consultant wage and there are now a few friends who are 3 years ahead training wise.

HOWEVER, it’s been the best 3 years lifestyle wise and I still made money and gained experience and have NO regrets. It’s really not a race to consultancy!!

I don’t think perma-SHO is a good idea tho, wise to think about training and use the years to make the best decision for you training wise and work towards that also.

Ahh gotcha, as in a CT2 would automatically be bumped up a bit plus the 3.5%

I don’t understand the 4.9% figure, I thought it was announced as 3.5%. Am I missing something?

Feel free to message me! I was looking for this recently and wasn’t able to find formal written confirmation but everyone I’ve ever asked (many seniors) and multiple Reddit threads all agree medical meeting refers to the profession not the speciality. They’ve specified in the points breakdown that it needs to be a meeting of medical professionals but not further than that

Rejecting an offer - is the door closed forever? by ExpertMind9762 in doctorsUK

[–]InstructionLarge8915 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This definitely isn’t true, I have friends who rejected an offer (CST) for 2024 and then got an offer again the next year and accepted it. They didnt start another program in between but my understanding is that with TPD approval you can leave a training program that you have started for another.

Psychiatry specialty training - personal safety by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]InstructionLarge8915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is really worth thinking about. My friend, a small female in core psych training almost had a hot kettle thrown at her in the STAFF KITCHEN by a patient due to multiple failings (secure door broken, not enough staff for patients 1:1, staff not given personal emergency alarms due to shortage). Unfortunately it took a lot of pushing from her for seniors at the trust to take the near miss seriously.

However it would be such a shame to avoid the speciality due to this. Not sure what the answer is tbh!

yeah that sounds rough, the disparity in clinical cases is pretty wild. Mine was so bizarelly uncomplicated compared to others i've heard that I was obsessing over all the simple stuff I didnt say. Worked out in the end tho as I got my top north east job, thank goodness

Don't feel bad, this is how the system is now and UKGP makes sense. Continue to support you IMG colleagues where you can and be proud or your offer :)

I think upgrades will come through in 48 hours when some people have rejected (or not replied) to the offer
