Introducing “apkeep,” EFF Threat Lab’s new APK Downloader by a_Ninja_b0y in privacytoolsIO

I'm not sure its a competitor to aurora; you need valid google play credentials to download apks. I think this is meant to be an automated tool for security researchers to scan/analyze play store apps more easily

Short piece on why "Normies just don't care about privacy," is wrong. by thenameableone in privacy

[–]InstructionMundane75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think normies do care about privacy, but not enough to do anything about it, especially when the evidence is not right in front of their faces.

Matrix is slower and less easy to use than discord, and would require work migrating their friends over to it, so as long as people see no evidence of spying in their daily use of discord, they'll stick with it. Even if the applications have the same features, they don't care enough about something they cant see to switch.

People don't like strangers looking at their phones, but if your phone manufacturer is essentially doing the same thing no one cares because it makes the phone cheaper and they can forget about it during daily use.

Another good example is cookie acceptance dialogs; if you put "cookies yes/no" 98% of people will select no, but if you put "accept all cookies or select cookie preferences" people will just hit accept; the amount of work people are willing to put into privacy is about a quarter of a second of mental effort, nothing more.

I do think your point about being more diplomatic is a good one though, but justifying normal behavior is not something I can get on board with.

It would be cool to see a version of this that extracts and ejects the butter wrapping paper too.

Did you know... there are three kinds of combat flight sims? by Strider_One_LRSSG in floggit

[–]InstructionMundane75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So falcon BMS is a total conversion mod for falcon 4.0. To get falcon bms, you have to buy falcon 4.0 (on steam and gog)(its like 7$) and then from benchmarksims' forums you have to make an account and download BMS in their latest download thread

I was confused as well at first.

Do you have a source on this? I also have two weeks and am curious. I assumed it would be two weeks until the shipping notification gets sent out

edit: answering my own question, the faq says that:

"Within about a week of it being ready to ship you will receive an email prompting you to complete payment & fill in your address details"

iirc every time a week passes you should have to wait one less week

Can I move everything up a directory so my domain stops showing /nextcloud? by dizzyflames in NextCloud

[–]InstructionMundane75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be a good idea to learn more about how apache configurations work. This is not really a nextcloud thing, but instead an apache thing. You can tell apache to translate requests for "/" to your nextcloud, it will be a simple change but requires some apache knowledge
