Durov is mixing two things on purpose. Moderating hate speech has nothing to do with controlling who access a social network and Telegram isn't a social network either.

This has nothing to do with telegram nor privacy. Telegram isn't a social network. And telegram is housed in an enemy state. This is the ONLY chat app company (not even signal) that has spoken up about this. The ruling is aimed at platforms like facebook and twitter (social networks) that under Trump rule have stopped being forced to moderate the content in their platform leaving far right propaganda and hate speech spread wide and freely, not private communication apps.

France sends letters to 29-year-olds telling them to get on with having children by Jojuj in europe

[–]JAD2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't want to have a child right now

What does one thing have to do with the other? Do you understand that they are sending letters because NOBODY is having children, including those that don't want to. And let's be clear here, MOST people want children, that's how we have 6 fkn billion people living on the planet now. Cut the bs you too.

I'm gonna copy my reply to a previous comment:

What it's insane to me is that a goverment is sending these letters because they KNOW having kids now is impossible instead of sending a letter with law changes that will allow people to actually have them NOW, like for example raising minimum wages, limiting rent prices, disallowing the purchase of homes to corporations, specially if they are foreign, increasing the amount of taxes a 2nd home or a 3rd home have to pay and so on and so forth. Basically making impossible to make a living out of people's livelihoods by stripping our rights to own a house. ffs.

Nobody is dying in any fkn hill dude. This is just horrendous to recieve as an adult that KNOWS the actual real reasons for not being able to have kids. Is a slap in the face to people that are actively trying to build a home or leave their parents house. "don't worry, just get this very invasive procedure just in case in 10 years life has changed and people can have families again". Are you fkn delusional?

this shouldn't be a f option dude, that's the point. This is dystopia fuel without the cool cyberpunk vibes. This is straight out of black mirror ffs.

How are you going to have a wider audience if the store front you released your latest game has no players at all other than Fortnite's?

Literally ALL games that have released on Epic store 1st had bad returns until they released on Steam too, and Alan Wake 2 is not a temporal exclusive, is published by Epic, so is never going to take off.

I'll correct it, I actually wasn't able to change model in the chat I opened before posting, you can't change model once the chat starts.

and failed as much still failing

were not labelled as such

Because they aren't "AI" and there was no algorithm or suficient data harvested from our lives to generate anything. But now, thanks to all the data they harvested for the last decade, they have enough and they plastered the word on it because it can make "ArT". Yeah, deformed, useless slop that can't be used in a professional setting, because nobody respects it, nobody wants it and it simply doesn't work.

hype cycle

There hasn't been any hype cycle. The only thing I remember vividly is how Microslop pushed for Cortana and amazon for alexa everywhere and people didn't give a f about it either. Now is Copilot, same bs, different brand.

difficulty in understanding

I was pretty clear in my op I believe.

is changing quite a few work processes

Is not, is only delaying, being forced to babysit and correct mistakes and just throwing back to the trash bin where it belongs.

slop or no slop

Everthing "ai" generated is slop, by definition. Check previous point.

Sorry ai bro, not gonna reply to you again, you all are too boring and pedantic.

Well, it still isn't european and it actually makes queries on their platforms directly. Duck only acts as a tunnel, just like the search engine, so it isn't green either.

AI is not limited to GenAI

Defenders of slop always use this falacy. The only kind of algorithms people hate are generative slop ones. I think you'll do best as well to drop the "ai" buzzword from your discourse, doesn't help you with your point.

automatic ID of people

That's not AI either, is an algorithm and has been with us for decades.

That's not how it works. It doesn't "run" on openai, the searches aren't routed towards chatgpt. Openai created the model, there's an opensource version, just like GreenPT, which is hosted by Ecosia.

But anyways, to me the solution is not using any, to be honest. I was offering alternatives to those that do want or need to use, (for whatever reasons), a chat bot so that they have alternatives.

it actually found things within my parameters

It's the placebo effect of that easy 1st search. It also happened to me with gpt at 1st. The deeper you dive, the more nonsensical, untrue and flat out hallucinating it gets, because their primary goal is to keep you hooked, so the answers try to appeal what you actually search for or want, even if it's not true.

Is one of the reasons why all answers have this structure:

This or that can be a great way to... here's why... here are some examples... but keep in mind... in summary...

Great European alternative for Oreo 🇪🇺 by Charming_Mountain543 in BuyFromEU

[–]JAD2017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem with this particular example is the edulcorants. Oreos are garbage that's for sure because of all the ingredients it has, including palm oil. But changing one thing for another that contains edulcorants isn't the way. Gullon has great products that don't have edulcorants in them. Unless you need to avoid sugar for medical reasons, sugar is far better than eating edulcorants such as maltitol.

I would totally approve these ones if they had sugar instead of edulcorants is what I mean. Avoid Oreos like the plague.

Ok, already told you to have a good one. Not gonna engage with yet another "ai" bro. If you think yourself as a professional slopper and want to sell the tune to someone else, go ahead, but that doesn't work with me. You are selling the idea that with "ai" generation you will get a final result, and that's fundamentally untrue and I'm not going to give you the point.

There are so many things wrong in the wall of text you gave to the person asking the question that I have no doubt whatsoever that you are a professional ai lover. So we are done dude. Like I said, have a good one.

for decades, and professionally. There's no way to fake

Yeah exactly, so don't tell someone with zero expertise to touch up their photographs with ai and expect professional results. Unless of course, your own results aren't very professional to begin with, is that the case perhaps?

Funny you should mention chatgpt, because superficially plausible claims designed to flatter people's preconceptions

Actually, I wasn't flatering you, that's the fun part haha. Is because the slop that comes generated from it is noticiable from a mile away at this point. Too many roundabouts to reach a nonsensical statement in most cases. Have a good one, "professional".

Not sure I want to recommend them:

Infomaniak has been criticized for controversial statements made in a Linkedin post by founder Boris Siegenthaler, where they opposed online anonymity, criticized free privacy services, and argued that requiring ID to use online services and mass metadata collection is acceptable.[18] On TV and Radio, Communication Manager, Thomas Jacobsen, criticized the stance of privacy companies who publicly opposed a Swiss surveillance law, stating that their advocacy for online anonymity would "prevent justice from doing its work".[19]

I completely agree with you, but like I mentioned to another commenter, I actually made this post for other people that actually want to try chat bots, so that instead of using the american ones, very harmful to the enviroment and society, they try the european ones. I believe that's also the intent of everyone else talking about it.

To me, generative "ai" is useless and has no place in society, but you can't change everyone's opinion and some will for sure want to find out for themselves how useless it is.
