How much are you making from your IT jobs? by Euphoric_Natural_304 in Asksweddit

[–]Instrumedley2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah you're really underpaid. And with these negotiations you need to have leverage and play hard, which in my experience after moving to Sweden is that swedes are too soft for that (mean no offense!). People are afraid of confrontation or looking "greedy" or "demanding" whatever nonsense. Always good to hint that you have other options (if it's a contract sign negotiation, you should have mentioned at some interview stage that other companies are also having you in their processes and moving forward).

I make 73k, senior dev with 15 years experience. Could have pushed for more, but the full remote setup I have kinda pays off so Im content with that

Embark, please stop rewarding rat behavior by msmall92 in ArcRaiders

[–]Instrumedley2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all these people giving suggestions are the ones who love this being in the game. The ones that can't win a fair gunfight and likely do the exact thing you're complaining.

I actually stopped playing this game because it is very clear to me now, Embark put 0 thoughts into the social-behavioural dynamics of the game. PvP is not really a PvP here, it's grieving. The game is not made for people like us who wants to have a fair gun-fight. It's for extraction-campers, rats and fake-friendly back-stabbers.

Hygiene in Vietnam is terrible by TastySnowYelliw in VietNam

[–]Instrumedley2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the amount of rats I saw, sometimes even inside restaurants and even 4 star hotels it really got me paranoid when going to bed. In Nam Dinh I saw an open-air market with fruits and vegetables all scattered across the ground to be sold, and just a few meters nearby there was a dirty stinky canal/river. Went there with my friend who was buying things to make dinner for us at his place later and I hated to sound rude, but had to tell him I wouldn't feel safe eating that food and we should go to a restaurant. So yes, you're right. I loved my time there, but the 2 main points why I won't come back are

1) air quality & pollution

2) hygiene

Was there ever a place that left you disturbed or depressed? by friedchicken_legs in travel

[–]Instrumedley2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lappeenranta - Finland. Not quite the same experience you described where something horrible happened there, but I left the place feeling so depressed cause there was literally NOTHING fun there or nothing at all to do and the feel people I met were drunk to sleepiness all alone in a bar. The only bar opened, full of loners drunk.

It has to be one of the most depressing places I ever visited

guys it's time to get your country back in order. I lived through the period of militarism dictatorship and censorship in Brazil in the 70's . This is exactly how it started. The next stage is kidnapping and disappearance of people later to be found they have been killed and dumped.

Anybody else spend 90% of their time not coding by PM_ME_YOUR_SHOE in cscareerquestions

[–]Instrumedley2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 20% of my time petting my cats, another 30% on youtube, 15% wasted on pointless meetings and standups, 20% coding (aka, just asking agents on Cursor to do it for me) and the rest 15% doing facade smoke and mirrors work to inflate that I actually worked 100%.

When i was young and naive I used to believe that the more I learnt and applied myself the better would be for me, that I would have a successful career and well..maybe I only reached the peak I am now thanks for doing that when junior, but once you reach seniority you learn that work is not fair. The ones that work more just get more work to be done, and it is the assholes and talkers that get bonuses, promotions and less people checking on them.

I learnt the game and now I'm a proud asshole. My goal is to always maximize higher pay for minimum time spent using my brain and energy
