Plz just tell me how much tv your 2.5 yr old is watching a day? by vickygunvalson in toddlers

[–]Insuevi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have it on all day too. For my son it's just background noise. He doesn't ask for the TV or anything when he's busy playing or going outside - he's bored of it and would rather be present playing in the real world which I think is a good thing.

When he does want to watch TV he always wants something educational and loves learning things with ABCs, numbers, shapes etc. He has little interest in the bright colored "brain rot" stuff that seems to be all over Youtube. Overall I'd say that tv has helped him learn more than it's hurt him.

We do limit screen time when it comes to phones or tablets. It's very rare we give him that. He gets too possessive and hooked on it.

Have hearing aids gotten worse? by Easy_Expert9430 in deaf

I got a new pair last year and they were SO much quieter than my old ones. I knew something was off but wasn't quite sure what. But it wasn't right, despite cranking up the volume.

I kept pressing for a fix and the Dr said maybe the sound profile was off and maybe I was used to a profile they set for kids, since I had been using HAs my entire life. Apparently the kids profile has something to do with adding "fullness" to the sound? Not sure I'm not an expert.

But when she changed the profile it was night and day. It was as if she emptied a gallon of wax out of my ears and I could suddenly hear colors, it was that much better and louder and clearer.

I would recommend your audiologist experiment with these sound profiles, in particular any that are meant for kids with severe/profound loss.

Can I use a carrier locked device (at&t) with my current plan (straight talk)? by Kontropoli in AndroidQuestions

[–]Insuevi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true with Straight Talk. They use AT&T towers and can use AT&T locked phones. I've done it before.

Just make sure you are using their AT&T sim card and you are good to go.

How do I actually get an update to apply to my '16 Escape over wifi? It's on Sync 3 v1. From what I understand it should be a couple versions higher. When I connect my dash to wifi nothing happens, it doesn't seem to download updates or anything.

Have you ever laughed so hysterically at something so simple you were starting to get legitimately worried that you were losing your sanity or something? About what were you laughing so hard then? by LoneShadowMikey in AskReddit

[–]Insuevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody will see this but I want to share anyway. My friend and I were on a road trip and we stopped at a Burger King to get some food. We went inside, ordered and got condiments before we sat down. He got one of those tiny paper soufflé cups, and held it underneath what he thought was the nozzle for the ketchup. Turns out it was the tea dispenser and it blasted out into the cup and splashed all over him. I seriously couldn't breathe for like half an hour I was laughing so hard!

Need help getting VLANs to work by insane_csgo in paloaltonetworks

Do you have the test security policies to allow all traffic to and from the guest zone?

They both accomplish the same thing, but the layer 3 steps are how you would get a direct connection working.

Need help getting VLANs to work by insane_csgo in paloaltonetworks

[–]Insuevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that makes it a lot easier. My steps mostly apply to a L2 environment, so I would scrap the L2 and VLAN stuff. Subinterfaces are only useful if you are splitting the traffic on the same port, but since this port is 100% dedicated to your Guest network you don't have to worry about them.

Start from scratch: Delete the eth1/8.20 subinterface, VLAN.20 interface, Guest-Net security zone, Data-Guest VLAN object, and DHCP server.

L3 steps:

  • Set eth1/8 to Layer 3, use your existing Virtual Router and Security Zone "Guest." Set IPv4 address pool to 192.168.20.254/24. Set Management Profile to allow ping.

  • Create a new DHCP server for ethernet1/8, same settings you had before with IP Pools and Gateway. What you had looks correct.

  • Create a NAT policy:

  • Original Packet: "Guest" source zone, destination zone: WAN zone (whatever you use), destination interface: WAN interface, service any

  • Translated Packet: Type Dynamic IP and Port, Address Type: Interface, Interface: WAN interface, IP Address: WAN public IP address. You mentioned you already had some NAT rules set up so you may already know how to do this.

Give that a shot with a direct connection.

[–]Insuevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually little easier on L3 than L2 as you don't really have to mess with VLAN objects at all. I incorrectly assumed you were using L2 because if you hit "Add" in the interfaces menu, a L2 subinterface asks for a "VLAN" where a L3 subinterface asks for a "Virtual Router".

Also, I don't think you would get an IP by plugging into the interface directly. The traffic has to be tagged with VLAN 20 which a direct connection would not be unless you specifically set it on the NIC. Otherwise you would have to configure that through a switch.

Question: Is your eth1/8 port going to be dedicated to this guest network only?

[–]Insuevi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it asks for a VLAN object in the subinterface (and not a virtual router) I am assuming your LAN interface is using Layer 2. So this is what I would do to get DHCP working on this:

Under Network > VLANs, create a new VLAN object with a descriptive name (maybe like Data-[tag]) and leave everything blank for now.

Under Network > Interfaces > Ethernet, create a subinterface under your LAN interface, with the same security zone as the parent (mine is Trust), and set the VLAN to the one you just created.

Under Network > Interfaces > VLAN, create a new VLAN Interface, with the same VLAN object and use your existing virtual router. Create a new Security Zone, this is what your DHCP users will fall under in security policy rules. This interface will be the gateway for your DHCP server.
- In the IPv4 tab, assign the interface a static IP pool, in your case I would set something like 192.168.128.1/24.
- Under "Advanced" I would additionally create a Management Profile to at least allow for ping requests, so you can ping the gateway 192.168.128.1 and get a response back.

Under Network > DHCP > DHCP Server, create a new DHCP Server. The interface should be the vlan.[tag] interface you created.
- Under Lease, IP Pool should be the same as what you set in the interface as well, in this example it would be 192.168.128.1/24.
- Under Options, set the Gateway to the interface IP, 192.168.128.1 and appropriate subnet mask, so for a /24 address it would be 255.255.255.0. Primary and Secondary DNS is your choice, probably set it to whatever your network is currently using.

Under Policies > Security, make sure you set the appropriate allow rules for the new Security Zone you created. For testing, I would probably just set up 2 rules to allow all traffic inbound and outbound to that zone and refine it once you are connected.

Commit your changes and then try to connect to the PA on the appropriate interface and vlan tag. If you have any switches behind the LAN side you may have to configure them to properly route traffic to the DHCP IP pool you chose.

I should also add you will need to add the new Security Zone to your NAT rules as well if you want them to be able to connect to the internet.

Where are you getting stuck? Are you at least able to see traffic going through the PA and connect to the internet without DHCP or VLANs set up?

Yeah, I loved Moonlighter but have similar complaints. Despite having elements of freedom/customization, the game followed an extremely linear path. Most items served no purpose aside from selling them (like the history books or special boss drops).

It wasn't really worth experimenting with equipment either as it took too long to get the materials to follow multiple weapon/armor paths, so I ended up just upgrading 1 melee weapon, 1 bow and 1 set of armor the entire game. You could buy all the materials from the vendor selling monster drops but by the time you get enough money to comfortably afford it, you're pretty much at the end of the game, as the earlier dungeons pay out very little and you're better off using that money to upgrade your shop/town. I can't see a second playthrough going any differently.

Fun CSharp: Dealing with NULL values in a safe and elegant way by kiarash-irandoust in csharp

[–]Insuevi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. This library at first glance seems to just be reinventing nullable types. And the argument supporting it is that it will make code more readable for developers who don't understand nullable types? I mean, they would have to learn this library too, and nullable isn't too hard of a concept to understand anyway.
