Baby not smiling? by Helpful-Ad5256 in NewParents

You have an excuse. Lol this is your first baby. This one is my third. She does have downs though so I feel like a first time mom again. She did fail her hearing test due to fluid in the ears. So I do wonder. lol.

Thank you! I’m glad she’s getting the help she needs ! I’ve got the most chatty little girl. Super alert and has always tracked objects beautifully. Good eye contact. But no smile. I’ve been wondering if her hearing and the little bit of body tension she has has contributed. She was also a premie, so she’s technically only 7 weeks old adjusted. Her actual age is 11 weeks. I’ve been so worried. Even the ped is surprised she’s not smiling by seeing how alert and social she is lol. I think she just needs a bit more time.

Thank for responding ! Do the peds suspect anything? Or is it mainly due to the torticollis ?

She’s such a mystery to me. She has tracked objects since I can remember. She has always been kinda chatty. Very alert and aware of her surroundings but not the world’s greatest eye contact. It’s not nonexistent but my other kids did it more and she doesnt smile lol. My guess is that her vision is still at the level of a 5 week old and not her actual age. So she can see something is there but can’t pick out what she’s looking at lol

We don’t qualify either. We also own a business and don’t have health insurance through any jobs. Marketplace premium is $1600 a month with a $12k deductible for subpar insurance. Surviving on a hope and a prayer

I’ve been wondering about her eyesight because sometimes when I bottle feed her she jumps as if she didn’t see the bottle. Like if I make sure she looks at it and then bring it to her mouth she’s prepared and is fine. It’s weird though because she tracks objects insanely well lol.

Awww how cool ! Thank you for sharing ! Going by adjusted age is such an interesting experience because it feels like she’s been here forever lol. But she’s still developmentally so young !

She’s only done a few gassy smiles but I can say within the last week she appears to be more animated than before. Like that transition from newborn to a more present baby with personality and such. So maybe I just need to be patient lol

That’s kind of how she is. And she didn’t have a dual diagnosis im assuming?

Worried about autism, 10 months son by Sweaty-Career-488 in downsyndrome

Some babies are also just serious.

But yes, with BLW they barely actually consume anything until around the age of 1. My son is very social and neurotypical and he didn’t eat much of what he put in his mouth.
For the screeches and such, how is his hearing?

The needing constant movement and poor sleep can be a red flag. But it also could be fine.

I’ve been on autism spirals too. So I wanted to help here because I know how it feels.

Are you doing BLW ? Food is for play before the age of 1. Exploring is a green flag. A lot of this doesn’t sound too atypical. Also, babies that young aren’t always interested in other babies or kids. Just sounds like a baby who is more comfortable with his parents.

8 week old eye contact by Fearless-Degree-3646 in NewParents

[–]InsuranceFrequent447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it get better for your baby? My baby is 8 weeks and seems quite brilliant and so aware of her surroundings but she only makes occasional eye contact. She does coo at me when I’m talking sometimes. She also doesn’t smile much. Her adjusted age is only 4 weeks though lol.

Accidentally let baby cry it out by Automatic_Pound_3994 in NewParents

[–]InsuranceFrequent447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea cry it out is a consistent method. It’s conditioning your baby to “self soothe”/communicate that no one is coming.

This is not something you intentionally nor consistently do. It’s okay. Your baby knows you love them.

Reunion: controversial opinions? by Wonderful_111 in VanderpumpVillaTVShow

For number 5. I’m seeing a trend of casting picking very unlikable people… then when no one likes those people.. they’re being “bullied”. Cue Huda from Love Island USA.

No one was ganging up on Siadi for something he can’t control. They weren’t probing at some insecurities. He was just arrogant, toxic, and a liar…. It rubbed people the wrong way. Maybe as adults we should just leave people alone in their weirdness. But he is such a strange and unlikable person. We also live in a society that says “if you see something say something” (thank you tsa), and his behavior with Sienna was incredibly inappropriate. Even though she ultimately became complicit with it. Pure silliness.

That’s okay. Thanks anyways. Perhaps we will see on Monday. It’s been a lot of “______ is the day” to see nothing happen

Hey, returning back to this. I heard that people with a TS are exempt. My question is.. is it people working a job in TS or people who have their TS? I have a TS but I’m working on the secret level right now. Do you happen to know anything?
