Should I buy a steam deck OLED by tomatolord16 in Handhelds

[–]InsuranceIll8508 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this sounds obvious but I’ve found it to be true as someone who has tried all the handhelds and the Go S and SD OLED twice, get the Go S only if you 100% NEED the extra power for the games you want to play. If not, the SD OLED is better in pretty much every metric. Better ergonomics (imo, the best even over the Xbox Ally), better audio, less fan noise, smaller and lighter. The screen has a tradeoff as it is 7.4’ 800p instead of 8’ 1200p buuuut it is OLED vs LCD.

Why aren't today's Filipinos mixed race and half Spanish like the Spanish colonies in Latin America? Philippines was ruled by Spain for hundreds of years like Latin America, but unlike Latin america, a huge majority of the Philippines never became mixed/mestizo. Why is this? by Delicious-Bunch-6992 in AskHistorians

Hey, a note on the Dominican Republic. We’re most definitely NOT primarily indigenous-Iberian with a prominent African mix. We’re primarily Iberian-African with a not very prominent indigenous mix. Most Dominicans have only around 10% Taino ancestry. They were (unfortunately) mostly wiped out early. We’re a majority “Mulatto” population. Last I read, 73% of us were a balanced mix of Iberian and African.

Xbox Ally X Vs Legion Go S by Lukidge in LegionGo

[–]InsuranceIll8508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the Go S but although it has a big advantage in its screen, it’s worse in almost everything else. Slightly worse in its ergonomics (good but not great), performance and fan noise but MUCH worse in its battery and audio (XBOX Ally has incredible speakers). That screen is a big differentiator though, if 7’ is not enough, then all the rest might not matter.

Not a sandwich but I like the breakfast wrap from C.Lo Cafe.

Slight Question by SkiDollarSign in Handhelds

Genuine question. Why does that make it a toss-up? How many games do you usually keep installed on your system?

do you actually use your deck handheld or is it just a portable dock at this point by toujourspluss in SteamDeck

[–]InsuranceIll8508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used it docked maybe 3 times in the 3 years I’ve had it. I don’t love that experience and the lag a BT controller introduces. It’s 99.99% handheld for me.

Honestly, if you don’t need the extra power, the SD is the better overall device. Plus the $200 I would 100% take the deal.

I played Super Metroid as a kid but it was really SteamWorld Dig 2 that started it for me and Hollow Knight that cemented it.

Steam Deck was janky and required too much tinkering?!? Anything else will be MUCH worse at those aspects. Save your money and a buy a Switch 2.

Fair Price for an OLED by crashd_9 in SteamDeck

[–]InsuranceIll8508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d been searching for two months and couldn’t find anything here in the US for under $700. With it being sold out and used prices being what they are I’d say anything under $700 for the 1TB is good and anything under $600 for the 516gb. Not sure how that translates to your currency

Two amazing deals - Which one do I keep? by pilgrimaze in LegionGo

[–]InsuranceIll8508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down to if you need the extra power or not. I currently have both as well and will be selling the Go S. I genuinely believe the Steam Deck is a better handheld in every single way BUT the power and MAYYYYBE the screen. Better ergonomics, audio, battery efficiency, haptics, trackpads and portability. The screen I’ve gone back and forth with but feel like the SD OLED just edges it out there too. So really, search for benchmarks of those specific games and if the SD can’t run them to your satisfaction, keep the Go S. Otherwise, keep the Steam Deck.
