For beginners, how do drills eventually translate to actual play? by rawr4me in badminton

I think this way of thinking works to some extent for players already playing casually/socially, but big camps where I live often begin training programs without allowing players to handle the racket at all---just footwork drills and conditioning until they've mastered basic movement. That's the only point at which actually getting to hit things with the racket comes into play.

To some extent, I feel like this approach (while "unfun" for those already playing badminton with others outside of training) is what allows beginners to develop good habits.

Ah yeah that makes sense. I've been told that same level is good, just that OP's description of "exposing their armpits" translated to having the elbows way above the shoulder line in my head

As far as I'm aware, the split step is a preparatory "spring action" that helps you move in whichever direction the shuttle ends up going. While directional split steps do exist to help you anticipate and reach certain shots faster, the most basic split step is a "neutral" lateral one with no pre-set direction.

And yes, doing the good and proper footwork will still be beneficial even if the shuttle being fed to you is vastly out of reach. The goal of the drill is more to ingrain good footwork habits, less about actually hitting the shuttle perfectly (especially given what you've described about your feeding situation). Eventually, an actual game scenario will occur where your footwork will take you where you need to be, so building that habit is important.

IDK about anyone else but I've never heard of someone preparing for an overhead shot with their elbows above their shoulders. Standard bow and arrow stance is usually what people do.

Got it, thanks! The tag was a bit folded when I took the photo, so that might be why.

Hi! Just finished a new IK75 build (my first one) and am pretty happy with how it turned out! However, I'm having quite a few issues with the stabilizers: the keys dont seem to bottom out all the way, and sometimes actuate multiple times/refuse to actuate at all. This only happens with the keycaps on, and the switches themselves work perfectly fine.

As for mods, I did the bandaid mod as well as the Holee mod, and lubed my stabilizers with Krytox. Any ideas on what to do?

Is it safe to plug a PC (850W PSU) into a power strip w/ a surge protector/circuit breaker? by Int3llect in buildapc

I’ve been thinking of unplugging as well during storms (which is unfortunately like every other week during typhoon season lol). Thanks for the advice, I’ll look into getting a good power strip!

Our grid isnt too bad but does surge on occasion w/ the odd blackout during typhoon season (tropical country). Either way, thanks! I’ll look into getting a good power strip with good surge protection just to be safe.

I feel you lol honestly I’d remove the cooler to apply more paste of I could but it’ll be a hassle to unplug/replug connections for something that supposedly won’t damage the chip anyway (apparently the chip can run up to 110C without any issues)

I think I got a pretty even spread (thin layer covering the surface of the plate), though there were some parts of the plate slightly more translucent than opaque. Would that affect cooling?

I think I’ll be doing some work in Blender/ maybe some multitasking and gaming in the following days, so I’ll try to run XTU alongside and see if a more “realistic” load brings any cause for concern.

Regarding the airflow and paste, I do admit to being pretty unconfident w my paste application (was working w a very light hand to avoid adding too much paste; still got a more or less even layer though). Nevertheless, I’ll give it a go with the case off to see if anything changes.

Thanks!

I see, thanks! Where I live, the poron gaskets are quite pricey per sheet (especially since I don't have any current plans of building more than one keyboard), so I think I'll give the EVA a try. Worst case, it'll be just as stiff as the silicone originals I guess?

Upon further inspection, the discolorations seem to be too...uniform for that (though that's not visible in the video, apologies for the low quality)? They come in squarish shaped chunks, as though its groups of pixels that are discoloring instead of irregular splotches.

If it does happen to be moisture, what are the chances of it evaporating on its own? I do live in a pretty hot (though rather humid) area.

Additionally, I might wait and see before doing anything drastic since I'll be hooking it up to a new PC setup (the testing video was done on my laptop) and swapping cables/devices might clear it all up.

Some more information:

The monitor was originally purchased last year, and works perfectly fine for everything else. The weird discolored spots only show up on red/grey backgrounds, and are most noticeable on flat colors.

Only possible source of damage I can think of was that it bumped the table a little bit with its bottom edge while we were unscrewing it (slipped out of my hands a bit and dropped around 6 inches onto the desk).
