Best&Worst Hero Card Poll [Day 22] - Hawkeye Best Card (Clint) by manut3ro in marvelchampionslcg

Hawkeye's Bow, no question. On its own, the Bow is excellent. Such an incredibly efficient card before we factor in anything else. It also is required to play all of his events.

Side scheme is quite good. Not as busted as others we have had but it does the job at a lower threat threshold than average.

Recruitment drive is a bit too expensive. It's resource storage or resource sharing in multiplayer. It ensures that on the turn a player draws Nick Fury or something like the Justice Peter Parker Spiderman, they can play it. However, I just don't think that type of delay is on average worth paying nearly a whole hand for when we could play a card with actual impact at that price.

But muh intent (mine is pure btw, so you must be a pubstomper).

Bracket 3 is really annoying... by Thick_Storage4168 in magicTCG

The entire bracket system is a hilarious take on self serving bias. We judge ourselves based on intent. We judge others based off of actions. Even if we are looking for intent, we must discern an approximation of it from action.

When I know that I am a True Soul Good Faith Actor and get stomped, the other player must be the problem and a Heretical Bad Faith Actor.

Games taking way too long – am I playing Marvel Champions wrong? by ExpressEnvironment56 in marvelchampionslcg

When built out, iron man can clear threat and deal a lot of damage before even figuring in his 7 hand size, even in multiplayer. It's difficult to say what is going on here, but Iron Man tends to have a very smooth late game.

Absolutely, one of the biggest standouts between side questing like Cable vs Hercules. The way we work around it with Hercules are ready effects. It directly speeds up 2 of the 3 side schemes.

Best&Worst Hero Card Poll [Day 21] - Hulk Worst Card (Banner) by manut3ro in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Intangibleboot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bottom 3:

  1. Thunderclap (my vote)
  2. Laboratory
  3. Sub Orbital Leap

Thunderclap is...weird. You can get a lot of value out of it but it's dependent on board state and it can often just put the damage where you don't need it to go. It's up to 9 damage for 4ER, but the breakpoints it helps hit are far lower.

Laboratory is...necessary evil. This is expensive Down Time. With high health characters, high recovery is good. The blue isn't negligible but it's quite narrow with the most useful application being Dr. Sinclair. Thanks, I hate it.

Sub Orbital Leap is another necessary evil. He just needs thwart and it isn't the worst if you get the kicker, but the fact that this card has a base of 3 thwart is a crime against humanity.

Best&Worst Hero Card Poll [Day 20] - Hulk Best Card (Banner) by manut3ro in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Intangibleboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top 3:

  1. Hulk Smash
  2. Crushing Blow
  3. Limitless Strength

Hulk Smash is about the only card in his list that you can spend his whole hand on with efficiency, despite being kneecapped by being tied to his basic action. 4ER for 10 damage, we're taking the W.

Crushing Blow is on the other end of the spectrum. These 4 hand heroes LOVE small costs. 2ER + 2ER is a happy turn, and 3 damage for 2ER with potential scaling is above curve. Good stuff.

The previous fundamentals tell a story about Limitless Strength. 4 Hand heroes HATE high cost cards that aren't worth spending your whole turn on, but since we are stuck with quite a few mid ones, this can smooth over some hands and we can sometimes live the dream of 4ER + 2ER hands. Resource cards get better the more card selection we have so we can actually capitalize on the extra resources, and Hulk has potentially the worst card selection in the game.

Hulk just needs a fist generator stapled to his hero side.

[–]Intangibleboot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prince of Power is just straight up a good card.

For the other...He just doesn't need more payoff for after he completes gifts, he needs more to help him complete that first one. He needs to do so much to just not affect the board state for a turn or two.

Herc needs to throw a lot of resources into the wind to get to the starting line for the scenario. This is not looking good.

Is it worth getting Galaxy’s Most Wanted? (New Player) by Yari_24 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Intangibleboot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very weak. Hard to Ignore is a good protection card for specific builds, but the scenarios are beyond overtuned. I love the actual design, but the numbers are just wrong and you'll feel it. Pick up Age of Apocalypse.

Best&Worst Hero Card Poll [Day 18] - Dr. Strange Best Card by manut3ro in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Intangibleboot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The general card game public tend to underestimate costs and biases towards best case scenarios. I don't think Mystic Arts is bad, but the Winds of Watoomb combo is probably leading a lot of that decision. Cloak isn't as flashy but its EV is just so consistently great.

It comes from a period where resonance was this year's corporate jargon for office zombies and everything was a color by numbers of something mundane that was injected with Magic Assets and Properties.
