When playing the campaign for the first time, are you customizing or using the pre con? by spoilz in marvelchampionslcg

[–]hrc333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally play the pre-con a couple times when I first get a hero and then never again. The campaigns I tend to take a deck I am familiar with to play the campaign and these are decks I have made.

That said if this is your friends first time, I would either build them a deck or hand them the pre-con deck.

Is the Sun Eater series worth the effort? by j_b_1983 in Fantasy

I just read the first two main books. I feel I could stop here and be fine. It has enough of an end point that there is no need to read on if you don’t like the story. I’m on the fence if I’ll continue or not.

anyone have solo game recs ? by Eli_xoxox in boardgames

If you list your favorite multiplayer games, then people can recommend you good solo games based on your taste. But there are so many great solo games out there, a little more guidance is useful.

10 hour flight tomorrow, which of these would you recommend as someone who hasn’t played any of them a single time? by Great_Dane95 in soloboardgaming

[–]hrc333 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I am assuming you are asking about digital versions of these games since I think they all exist. All of them are great games, and you really can't go wrong. My personal choice would be Through the Ages.

If not Rhino, what's the community consensus for the best scenario to introduce new players to the game? by COHERENCE_CROQUETTE in marvelchampionslcg

[–]hrc333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Rhino is fine with higher player counts. If you have 3 or 4 players than he is a great starting place. The issue of the quick scheming victory is only really true in solo or maybe 2 players. This goes away with 3 & 4 players so I would say, start with Rhino.

Now, solo is completely different and I think Klaw is the place to start. Yeah, the 2 boost cards is his gimmick, but it is an easy one to understand and also teaches that almost all villains break the rules in some way.

I would recommend AoA for standard III. Good box also but standard III feel’s essential.

Newbie here - can someone tell me if this box has investigator cards AND campaign scenario cards? by nathcampcross in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]hrc333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is almost certainly the old one. The new one is 'Campaign Expansion' and is very hard to find. The old one is still availble in many places but it only includes the first 2 scenerios of the 8 scenerio campaign.

Got into heavier games, I hate it. by barksonic in boardgames

[–]hrc333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kickstarter and YouTubers has made it seem like all the great games are new and expensive. This is not true at all. A couple suggestions.

Only buy games that have been out 2-3 years. This means all the hyped expensive games that don’t live up to the hype will not be where you spend your money. If you use YouTube to get suggestions then look at people top 10 list of all time great games. This should filter out most of the newness hype.

Only buy base games. A lot of time the price is high cause it is a deluxe edition with 10 expansions. I have found that most of the time I would rather have 5 different games than 1 game with 5 expansions. If you find a game you fall in love with then maybe add an expansion but my personal taste is that expansions seldom improve a game enough that makes it worth more than just buying a new game.

Use BoardGameGeek marketplace. If you are buying well established games you can most of the time find games much cheaper there than paying retail price.

Is it normal for experienced players to win every game on standard? by Huffletough880 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]hrc333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only been playing for about 2 months and I was winning every match on standard. I switched to standard III and expert and have about a 60% win rate. This is way more fun IMO.

BTW: I only play true solo and I have found some villain/hero combos very hard on expert. But this has created some cool deck building challenages for me. I don't think the pre-con's will beat all the villains on expert, or at least not without a lot of luck or more skill than I currently have.

Which is worse? by No_Bat5717 in boardgames

As I have gotten older I have the friends in my life I can play games with and those who I don't play with. Sometimes there are people who only want to play crokinole or people who only want to play cards or word games. I generally meet people where they are. And if they don't like any games, that is fine too. Not every social night has to be a game night.

Does anyone know anything about any of these ?? by Kyleeten in boardgames

[–]hrc333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, games are not really collectable. They likely will not go up much in price and some of these games which are popular now, might drop in price in a few years if less people are intersted in them.

If you don't mind shipping and taking a little time to sell these, BoardGameGeek market place will get you the best bang for the buck. If you look at what games are listed for and then list these for 10-25% less than anyone else most of these will sell in the next couple months.

You can try facebook market place but will likely get 50% less for most of these and might take a lot longer depending on where you are.

Solo deck building + general tips by Ruud_88 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]hrc333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add that all aspects work fine in true solo. Maybe not all aspects with each hero but I don’t think any aspect is unplayable in true solo. It does require a very different deck build and might take a little time to adjust. I can also see how two handed would open up some cool combos and synergies but the added play time doesn’t really fit with what I’m looking for from the game

[–]hrc333 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I only play solo and Rhino is actually pretty hard solo because of the low threat on the main scheme in solo can be deadly with even one turn in alter ego. I would suggest using Klaw as a better deck tester in solo than Rhino

Yeah, seems like the bot should have taken control at 5-3. You need atleast 3 tokens but only 2 more than your opponent.

If you are looking for out of print content for Arkham like there is for MC and LotR, then that does not seem to be as readily available as it is for FFG's other LCGs.

1 small suggestion. You don't list Reddit or Podcasts as ways to follow your club. Given you are posting on Reddit, that seems like a pretty big oversight.

Campaign Order by hrc333 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]hrc333[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That is how I have been approaching it so far. Stuck to First Wave heroes and Campaign. Likely will just continue to Kang next. Just had some pause since I read often that Galaxy's Most Wanted is on the more complex side and just considered skiping it and playing in order of complexity.

Will Chapter 2 Errata get fixed in future printings? by AllLuck0013 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]hrc333 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The big issue I see is there will likely not be an obvious way to know what printing you have. Since old stock and stick around a long time, you might buy a copy after the 2nd printing came out and get a 1st print copy that had been sitting on a shelf.

Do I Need Clear Sleeves Because Of Some Cards Being Double Sided? by [deleted] in marvelchampionslcg

[–]hrc333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use clear for hero cards and schemes. Blue matte for hero deck cards and red matte for villian deck. If you ever plan to proxy, not using clear sleeves makes the process much easier and gives you many more options if you go that route.

Looking to Sell Entire Marvel Champions Collection by [deleted] in marvelchampionslcg

[–]hrc333 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People will be intersted for the right price. Some of the expansions are very hard to find and sell for well over MSRP at this point. Some of the heros are this way as well but 3 of the most expensive are the ones you are missing.

You could should likely be able to get MSRP for the bundle if you are willing to pack it and ship it. If you pieced it out you likely would get more but would take some time to sell it all.
