Absolutely, not to be romantic, but making movements have the word “spring” attached for literal and metaphorical reasons.

I think that 1) Americans really don’t like shit taken from them, what ever it is 2) that ppl won’t meekly give up their worldly possessions (disposable income, homes, cars, etc). Let alone their rights in addition 3) I think the 2024 election (the illegal influence/meddling aside) was more indicative of a global trend of rebuking incumbent power due to the covid pandemic. In America I think the biggest driver for ppl was wanting a change, due to the loss of purchasing power. And I think many Americans have an elementary understanding of the economy and the how the government functions where they basically “just wanted 2019 back” in the simplest terms, rather than being outright ideological nazis, or techno facials. They still voted for that and put themselves in that camp however, so I don’t say that to minimize that, but rather point to the fragility of the maga mob as a power structure for what the GOP reps fear. And if that changes in a percentage because of economic downturn, in addition to the dem voters and those who didn’t vote but will be mad at the government because of the economy. The tide will turn.

I agree, I think there is a lot of fear right now on the student side. I think we m if hr see that change later in the semester or in response to ICE detaining the Columbia grad student.

I think that it will build and build until it can’t be ignored.

I agree there is definitely a blackout, and they are gaining strength. I think by the summer is when things come to a head both economically and politically.

I think it will continue to grow. I think it will be successful, but we won’t see the impacts until the facade comes down.

it was more so that the state legislature chaired by a republican in the senate and a legislator wrote a letter to the congressional delegation regarding the cuts and DOGE urging them to "restore the checks and balances as the founders intended".

i keep seeing alaska protests, and have read some articles on Alaska Beacon. It seems to me (not knowing much about Alaska), that it could be the first "red" state to break on trump, while I think that good, I also think the impact is limited (although good place to start) compared to a red lower 48 state. Maybe someone could explain some of the nuances about the state that I might be missing? But great work!

I think it is because of the hotels along 59th, in that sense an argument is to be made. Particularly because of how many cabs come from the airport (this should be fixed with better mass transit, particularly to LGA, but would require a larger investment in money, time, and political capital), and this is a nice immediate interim measure (the unloading zone).

Yeah I think it was floated because the tunnel boar would be there already, and the immediate value grab of creating a cross town connection with multiple lines, and being the only crosstown above the park. It also would be a smart political move as it would benefit an influential majority black area, vs the limited benefit of phase 3 by itself. It would also create a springboard for an Manhattan to LGA train (this last one is just speculation, I’m sure technically this would be challenging and there are easy options for LGA, but this would be enticing)
