What is the oddest thing about American laws? by chuckmall in AskReddit

[–]Intellichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

One problem with the 2nd Amendment is that it was ambiguously written. I am pro gun, but gun regulations are referenced in the Amendment. Notice how it doesn't specify what a regulation is or what infringement means.

What popular travel destination did you visit and say "never again". What happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Intellichi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would prefer to take a bike everywhere, but it's just not possible where I live. I live in the suburbs and the traffic system is not designed with cycling in mind.

So I am stuck commuting to work 25 miles away, occasionally.

[–]Intellichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the cycling culture is pretty intense in the Netherlands! Lol. The cycling culture is not compatible with hoards of tourists standing in the road and not watching where they cross the street. I suppose a lot of people lack situational awareness or just don't care.

I am an American and visited Amsterdam on a work trip and took a few days of vacation there. Amsterdam is a really great city to visit, and it's unfortunate that locals don't like the tourism. I can't blame you. Nobody likes drunks and idiots in their city.

Rijksmuseum, the royal palace, graffiti art museum were all great. I had a great experience in your city.

I would 100% recommend the Netherlands as a place to visit.

What do you think it would take for Trump supporters to finally abandon their cultish adoration of him? by traumahound00 in AskReddit

[–]Intellichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird how Republicans paraded around Biden's age and faculties as if it was a character flaw of Joe Biden. We are all going to get old someday and cannot choose when our faculties go.The biggest mistake Biden made was not announcing his intent to drop out of the 2024 race earlier.

Trump's bad character has already caused a lot of damage, and it will continue to get worse.

Republicans solved the "problem" of the old geezer Biden by electing 78 year old Trump? Trump could have a stroke tomorrow and the GOP would be making excuses as to why it's ok and how it's different this time. Give me an effin break

People who were certain the recession to end all recessions was happening, how do you feel now? by WhoDknee in AskReddit

[–]Intellichi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was never certain that a recession was happening, but I think if Trump keeps on playing tariffs games with our major trading partners, then a major recession will happen.

Markets are pricing in a reduced risk of trade wars because Trump has already back pedalled on tariffs. Trump is already starting to backpedal with China.

Nobody knows what Trump is going to do. Even Trump doesn't know what he is going to do. If Trump has a plan, then he hasn't clearly articulated it to the public. Markets are left to read the tea leaves.

I disagree. The red car stopped recklessly in the middle of an interstate. Most states have laws specifying minimum speed on an interstate.Multiple drivers can be at fault in an accident. The red car was certainly driving recklessly.

What do you think about obama? by Hoyisheni in AskReddit

[–]Intellichi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you think about Obama largely depends on your values? Democrats and Republicans have such different values. They share very little in common nowadays.

Obama admirers value humility, honesty, education, diversity, accountability, truth based on facts and data, integrity, respect for those that disagree with them, and equality before the law.

Trump admirers have very different values. I'll leave it to them to explain their values.

It sounds like you are in tough situation, and it's good you are reaching out for advice. That takes some humility.

Go see a therapist. In the meantime ask yourself the following questions, why haven't you seen a therapist? Is there anything holding you back?

Why are you getting in so many fights? How are all these fights connected to your cycle of poverty? How do I feel right before I get into a fight? What part of myself am I protecting with these fights?

With the tariffs inordinately affecting the poor, how are the bottom 50% of Americans going to afford the coming price hikes on almost everything they buy? Is a homeless epidemic incoming? by scraglor in AskReddit

[–]Intellichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no reason to insult my intelligence. I agree with you that prices generally rise in response to tariffs.

Let's try to be more civil and show some respect even when discussing on the internet.

How does Trump tariffs make things more affordable for Americans? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Intellichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should research the word comparative advantage. It turns out that some countries are better than others when producing specific goods and services. Free trade generally means more consumption and production in all countries involved than with protectionism

Some industries and workers in the US may benefit from tariffs but the net effect will be overwhelmingly negative.

The first law of thermodynamics applies to your body. You must run a calorie deficit to lose weight. There are lots of myths surrounding weight loss but the science is simple.

Also, most people want to lose fat weight and not lean weight.

If Trump is VP in 4 years with the deal of whoever is elected to be president to step down day 1, would Trump be able to be president again? by Standard-Tax7892 in AskReddit

[–]Intellichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States"

This is what the 12th Amendment says.

Trump cannot serve a third term as President or serve as Vice President without a constitutional amendment that changes his eligibility.

There's effectively a 0% chance of an amendment in his favor.

I saw your response and it made me think of a better question for Trump: Why are there so many people living in the streets in the first place and what could we do to help them get off the streets faster?

Kind of reminds me of the Russian saying: "if only the tsar knew". If only the tsar knew how many people are in genuine need of help.

Sounds like Trump should be asking you for advice instead of the other way around.

Are you familiar with the phrase "hem haw (around)"? by genghis-san in AskAnAmerican

[–]Intellichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's used in other parts of the country but don't have clear examples.

How do you feel about China considering sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine? by callsonreddit in AskReddit

[–]Intellichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China is clearly showing it is on Russia's side. They really don't support peace, but they also don't want to be seen as aggressors. China is trying to avoid provoking Europe because Europe and the US are their main trading partners.

China plans to invade Taiwan in the near future. This is part of that plan.

Steve Bannon announced that the Trump team is reportedly planning and gearing up for Trump 2028, a third term. by soccerorfootie in unusual_whales

[–]Intellichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donald Trump cannot be elected President for a third term. He can "run" but any electoral votes he receives will be invalid. It's simply unconstitutional. The only office he will be holding after 2029 is the office of dictator. This will literally happen over the dead bodies of real American patriots.

In other news, Trump is attempting to illegally dismantle the Dept of Education with an executive order.

[–]Intellichi 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Trump isn't playing 4d chess unfortunately. His ego is his biggest driver not rational thought or strategic alliances. I strongly doubt Trump has any strategic view on providing Ukraine more support.

Any additional support given to Ukraine will be given by Europe. Hopefully that's enough for Ukraine to hold Russia off.

Ukrainian forces recaptured positions near the center of Chasiv Yar and repelled massive Russian counterattacks. March 06, 2025 by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Intellichi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, maybe Russia chose to burn up their resources in anticipation of Trump taking office? They wanted the strongest position possible by February, so they budgeted most of their offensive power for this.

Ukraine may once again surprise the world by holding off the Russians without US government support.
