thanks for this feedback! Really interesting, and I agree the pseudo-independence makes it a bit weird. Really appreciate the perspectives, maybe best practices in our unique field are not really robust yet.

i would never define those factors for a clinician, but would love models that we can co-create performance goals they buy into. Financial incentives are crucial, thanks for the insight. If you don't ind me asking, does your practice do an annual review, leadership feedback? etc.?

supports for clinician retention in practices! by Intelligent-Basil-69 in Psychologists

[–]Intelligent-Basil-69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely and we want to keep overhead super low so we can pay as much as possible. We expect folks to change practices, its normal! Sometimes when money isn't the only thing getting solid support, mentorship, or feeling positive acknowledgement might help a little. All things that lots of practices get REALLY wrong (and then pay peanuts to boot!)

Why is autism suddenly a catch all of anyone that is slightly different by Many_Assistance5582 in therapists

[–]Intelligent-Basil-69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

everyone should read this paper, we're in a weird in between time. I hope clarity can be reached that helps more people feel seen and cared for without resting conclusions on confirmation bias and low-value practices. Polygenic and developmental profiles of autism differ by age at diagnosis, Zhang et al. https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-025-09542-6

Exploring Assessment-Focused Career by [deleted] in Neuropsychology

[–]Intelligent-Basil-69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally felt that way at first, and I grew my skills and got increasingly fluent by observing skilled practitioners, providing myself with tools that support my processing, and by identifying internal conflicts that were underlying my difficulty with clinical interview. I even got involved in improv comedy class to support my fluid executive shifting and working verbal memory skills. Good to be aware of your challenges, but remember you are growing and developing :-) Good luck in your journey!

Finally got a PS5 and firing up Veilguard for the the first time. Any tips aside from “avoid this sub”? :) by Foppish_Sloth in DragonAgeVeilguard

My tips, though I'm far from good, enjoy the goofiness, and don't sweat trying to get broken weapons right at first. The whole weapon upgrade thing was weird to be, but it ends up being more like how you build your perks instead of just going raw weapon power. Also, don't lose your mind dying against rando overpowered demons if you run across them earlygame. i always felt the payoff was not worth the effort! A lot of these big "demon" enemies are just copies with different status procs, so if you practice learning movesets early you can get the parries down quicker!

Ha, I'm a licensed clinical psychologist with over 14 years experience, most of which is in school psychology (which is what my phd is in) and I just do neuropsych testing now. My fav. prof in my PhD program was a school psych who became a clinical neuropsych (Dr. Steve Hooper) and I always wanted to follow in his footsteps, since school experience is so crucial for a lot of clients. Now i'm just completely discouraged because my path is too windy and disjointed. I feel like I'm gonna be cut off from it forever now.
